which is exactly why i dont watch awards shows...its all politics, and not neccesarily who should win
the movie was ok, but not best picture qualitly, compare platoon to that movie, its not even close
True, it's hard to know the exact reasons as to why a movie won. Is it really for the story, acting, quality, overall performances, etc or is it something that is lead by what's going on in the world.

saw hurt locker...i thought it was a bit bland ... pretty disappointing tbh i cant beleive that won best picture
I think it was more a political thing probably. I liked the movie though but I didn't think it'd win an oscar. I was more impressed that a female directed a movie such as this.

I can't seem to get to the Movie madness thread. I was getting to it buy going through the link that Neemo posted in the thread on the GNR page. When I try to get to it from the home page I am getting an error. 
NEVERMIND, I gotta to the actual section then I can get in the thread rather then right off the home page.

2012 It was okay, didn't blow me away at all. I got the message loud and clear. Other then that, all I can say is I hope really don't all die in 2012.

I'm shocked so many are overlooking Deliverance. I figured with this new format of nominations for Movie Madness that basically all the masterpieces of each decade would get in, but obviously that's not the case.
It'll probably sneak in as we're all nominating some of the same films, but when we start nominating 80s films tomorrow, it could get ugly.....
Geez I forgot all about Deliverance. "you got a purty mouth" 
Am I the only one that nominated Saturday Night Fever? Thus we not forget the strut, the "hey watch the haaaair" The famous dancing...that movie had an unbelievable cultural impact, at least in the US when it premiered. Not to mention the soundtrack.

The impression i got was:
That he's feeling he and the band are about the fans, but everyone else around them is about making as much money as possible. eg the business and managment people etc.
In particular he's annoyed about one of the secret shows, as the tour was for fans but this was added in for profit and he wasn't told. It might be ok except that he he wasn't well, it required travel, and was scheduled in a way that caused excessive strain on his voice (too close to other gigs). and thus it was scheduled to get priority over the proper stadium gigs, which he wasn't happy about - but the business types didn't care or think of it.
That situation was then made worse by excessive press covrage of the show he already wasn't happy about, thus taking the focus of the real point of the tour - which was the tour for the fans in brazil. Thus - he's pretty pissed at the business types, but reassuring the normal people the tour was really scheduled for them and not for the corporate interests that are fucking with it/being talked about in the media.
Or that's what I think it means anyway...don't mean to put words in axl's mouth.
