Where did you all get this performance?

I'd rather have a "touched up" live show where Axl kicks ass - sings with rasp and power and does justice to the songs - than a 100% honest warts and all version where it makes me sad that the songs don't sound "right" to me anymore

Hear hear.

Should he do overdubs, like he certainly did with Live Era, the question remains, what's the big deal? Would any of you prefer a DVD of Guns as the Mickey Mouse Club?

The next question will be whether we want a proper Axl performance by playback, or an erratic Mickey Mouse.

Sorry, but this is getting hilarious. They're not doing anything creative, just travelling through the world again and again with their tribute shows. Yet the frontman and owner of the name can't perform well enough to just let it go as it is? 17
Also, it's the biggest joke that Axl can't enter the studio - only when he corrects his live vocals. roll

I'm not saying he did, cause I haven't heard the performance (but would like to wink ). But if he did, then... whatever. Just another ridiculous episode of the saga.

Just got a chance to read the entire thing and I have a question. Why make these claims:

W. Axl Rose wrote:

a sold out US arena tour, a sold out US club tour...and a sold out month residency at the Hard Rock Hotel

None of that is even remotely true, so why make the claims?

I think he meant the weddings and being a sell-out.

Interesting what you say BLS about the angry Axl aspect....I remember he gave that interview where he said how he's still learning when to vent and when it doesn't work in a song or something like that.

I think it's only a matter of taking his pills.

Just take this quote from Axl (2001):

Nothing about happiness and love made sense to him (Slash). That was the reason why he hated "Sweet Child O' Mine". He only wanted to write songs about drugs and sadness.

Well, I don't think the lyrics of Slash's post-GN'R catalogue would have been so negative (the first VR is an obvious exception). On the other hand, CD mostly has dark lyrical moments, a bitter man's album.

You just can't take Axl's word of yesterday to mean anything today. His opinion is changing with the wind... He's only consistent in hating Slash.

I do agree that hate and bitterness are his driving factors. Without these, Axl can't write. (On the other hand, these negative feelings also can kill his creativity.)

Vicious, raw and full of energy. Just how it supposed to be. Amazing. I wish they'd play the Lies version, too, cause Slash always shines on that. 3

I guess "soon" is no longer the word.

Exactly.

I know that some fans here are hoping for a late 2013 release of old, CD-era songs, but hey it won't happen. If there was any plan, Ron wouldn't have been talking negatively about it. It'll be years till those Finck/BH/Tobias leftovers will be released, if ever. I don't think that Axl wanna make a new album in his life.

(maybe could do w/a lead guitarist tho..)

Agree.

This guy, Jeff Angel is a pretty good singer. He has voice, style, stage presence. I'd welcome him to front VR. He'd be a good fit. More than good. 11

Cause Axl got a massive contract large in part to what he did with the old band..... Back in a time where bands sold tens of millions of records

labels can't honor those contracts anymore cause they go bankrupt.

I remember Motley saying how they'd get 8 million everytime they decided to do an album.......... U can imagine how much Axl would command.... So if its in the contract, label must honor that..... So they just decide to not "want" an album.

Do we know the exact figures? I think we can only guess. However if it's really that situation, then Axl should ease on it, demand less and get the chance of materializing "his vision" in exhange. Although knowing Axl's history, it's very likely that he thinks he deserves all the money on Earth (and a little bit more) for his art and he wouldn't settle for less that's written in the contract. In this case he has nobody else to blame, but himself for being struck. He would find others, though.

Anyway, since Metallica and AC/DC can still sell shitload of albums, I think the GN'R brand could do the same, with whatever line-up, if the music is great. Of course, UYI leftovers without Slash's touch and Shacklers will not convince the label to release it.

Record label

I think its clear cut easy to understand

Unless axl takes a massive cut in his contract or reunites, label isn't gonna touch it

I still do think that if he wasn't such a pain in the ass and the material would be good enough, then it'd be released. Why would the label wait forever for a reunion (that may never happen and the chance for a new album by them is even worse) if they had gold in their hands?

Is there the full show available somewhere in quality format, but not in 21 GBytes or such?
