The guys in the band referred to insults against Axl by the old band, not against them. Steve is guilty for sure, but did anyone take him even remotely seriously?
I figured they were throwing out the standard stab at Slash, Duff and Matt for gutting Axl in the press which I am challenging by looking for that material.

What about an EP like AIC's "SAP" just to test the appetite of the fans for new GNR material?

LEAST LIKELY SCENARIO
Beta mediates between Axl & Slash to end the feud.
Beta master minds the reunion.
Slash spends 8 months with Axl, Izzy & Duff going through each others vaults.
They find a quiet country mansion and set up a studio.
They complete an album in two weeks.
Its a global smash.
They go out on tour for two years.
Everybody is happy.
The End.

For sure, something like this happened to a workmate of my fathers years ago. He had a car crash and crushed some nerves in his pelvic area, resulting in an almost never ending boner.
All his buddies though this was hilarous until it got dangerous.
The hospital had to drain his dick every two days so he wouldn't get trombosis from the veins in his dick starting to break down under the strain. He was so miserable. They eventually managed to deaden the nerves with injections of anaesthetic and eventually the nerves recovered and so did he.
Most men here will know what's its like to strike a diamond cutter in work and then get called out of your seat to a meeting. Its uncomfortable and embarrassing. Imagine that being constant....it would be as bad as needing a massive dump all the time!

Man oh man Axlin, you sound beaten down brother.
Watching a parent go through an evil illness when they have done nothing to deserve such pain is a bastard, I've been there with my own mother but she got through.
My father had an accident two years ago and his short term memory is now gone. He can't drive without my mother to guide him as he gets lost in the town he grew up in (he's 73).
This is a man that can tell you where he was on 5th December 1951 but couldn't remember being at his brothers funeral the week before.
He's frightened, and to hide that fear he's grumpy, putting people down and getting very edgy. The man I worshipped is gone forever and I just have to accept that.
If we were to be brutally honest, nature wants us making babies at 12 and get off the stage at about 40. That was good enough for thousands of years.
We live so well compared to our ancestors we are literally defying nature. If this was 1813, my Dad would be dead about 20 years at this stage and I'd have about 8 years of natural life left.
I am seriously thinking of just reading some of the Dali Lama's books as apparently they help you come to peaceful terms with this kind of shit.
Any body up to speed on his work?

I just don't see a co-headline deal working out with GN'R ever. .
Wait until the money starts running low Russ..."Momma" will find a way to get his red ass on stage!!!

I think people forget that Slash is just a guitar player. He's not Jimi Hendrix who explored the lead vocalist role. His voice is limited to his instrument and his abilities around that.
Every guitar player I can think of has a sound and a style that, no matter how hard they try, they actually become more like themselves as the years go by, right form the blues guys..Joe Perry & Slash to the metal guys..Dimebag & the boys in Slayer, Kirk & James..to the avand guard..Vai & Satriani....and even guys like the Edge.
No matter how much experimentation they did, it came back to their style.
Slash is a global icon in 2012, despite having left his band that defined him in 1995..that is an incredible achievement.
I also have issues with aspects of his work to date but if I'm to be honest, I'm just heaping too much expectation upon him because Axl isn't there to enjoy also.
Steak is great but Surf & Turf is even better and that's what the two boys were.

With Team Brazil at the helm, the mantra will be "TOUR TOUR TOUR!"
They won't have the patience to let Axl mull over songs for months knowing he (i.e. they) probably won't make much money from his efforts anyway.
They will keep drawing off this teet until it looks like one you'd see in a Live Aid report.
My prediction is more touring in Russia, Brazil, India etc...all the rising economies, except China of course..
Arena tour of the US possibly or else maybe a co-headline event like Big Four did..

These guys have twice the balls that the likes of Izzy ever had in interviews.
DJ admits he once hated parts of Axl's opus to Steph.
Bumble admits he hates the late starts and the solos.
Fair deuce to them, it also goes to show that a level of comfort has settled into this band and that these guys don't come across as measured gagged and controlled as they used to.
My only gripe is the comment about the old members bagging on Axl in the press...I ask it all of the time....WHERE?...PLEASE SHOW ME...
Where the FUCK was this interview 4 years ago?
I am a shameless GNR reunionist but these guys have earned their right to be called GNR band members and I hope they get to do at least an album with the band before they die of old age.

Intercourse wrote:AL deserves repeated listening.
I found the record oddly sterile despite the stellar guitar work but I've come to appreciate it more and more.Yes Sterile! I totally understand that and feel much the same about it to be honest!
So sterile in fact that the idea of repeated listening grates with me. I love slash's post gnr work but this is just not on par for me.
Its weird how both of us have the exact same feeling about what is supposed to be a live record. To be honest, I've not been happy with how Slash has been recorded for the longest time now. It does affect my enjoyment of his music quite alot.
This was the last time I think the essesence of Slash was captured properly...

I just wish his latest record sounded like that.
For example, if you listen to the solo in "Far and Away", its one of Slash's best, the musicality in the note selection for his runs etc is stellar yet, the song sound like the air has been sucked out it.
Slash needs to put the a"size" back into his band mixes...
