Really, everything people are saying they want in regards to gun control wouldn't prevent any of these shootings. The black market has exploded. Now, they sell all kinds of illegal shit at gun shows, like the equipment to modify weapons into machine guns, so that does need to be regulated.

I have no issue with denying rapists, psychos, wife beaters, pedophiles, criminals and terrorists from having a gyun. That's not too much to ask. Once you demand any kind of ban, people begin stock piling weapons which eventually leads to the black market sells.

You’re right, but it’s illegal to own the conversion parts and a firearm. And even more illegal to assemble them. I think the gun show idea is incredibly exaggerated, just like the online sales.

I used to buy weed off the dark web and looked at the weapons section to see what was there. It’s virtually empty and what was on there was just hand guns. Nothing gets fed attention faster than weapons or kiddie porn. All the markets I’m aware of ban the sale of weapons to delay the FBI making them the target.

I went to a gun show for the first time in a decade last year, and 80% of the tables were dealers meaning you had to pass the same background check you do in the store. PA also requires a transfer check for all hand guns. Of course people can violate the law, but that’s what the black market is. Each state is different, but the notion people are buying hand guns or assault rifles through gun shows to circumvent background checks in any significant number is just not supported by the numbers.

While this is tragic, let’s not forget that the majority of firearm deaths in this country are gang related.

Even repealing the 2nd amendment won’t end this, as the gang violence that accounts for most deaths already consists of illegally owned firearms. And they’re certainly not going to be handing their guns over. Not to mention while gun deaths declined in the UK and Australia, their violent crime rates and property crime rates increased. Guns are a deterrent no matter how you look at it.

He’s a millionaire, so he could certainly afford to buy a fully automatic weapon made before 1986 (I read he had a belt fed weapon shooting .308, which would be an M-60 and goes for around 50k). With no criminal history or mental illness, there’s no reason the ATF would decline the sale.

But it’s not exactly hard to illegally convert civilian assault weapons to full auto. Anyone with some machining knowledge could do it in a day. But the amount of rounds fired would warp any AK or M-16 variant from heat, so a belt fed weapon seems likely. Won’t be hard to find out as those are heavily monitored and tracked.

Damn shame this shit happens.

I hadn’t heard he had explosives too.

Definitely a machine gun and based on the firepower, has to be belt fed.

It's not the governments job or anyone else's to make that distinction, IMO. If you choose to pass your wealth to your kids I don't want the government deciding if they're worthy of it or not. I don't like the idea of taxes being used as punishment.

I'd much rather protect the widowed spouse, instead of seeing an estate get butchered after a death. It's really an ugly process.

I don't like the idea of somewhat who has done nothing, earned nothing, achieved nothing simply inheriting $10s of millions simply by existing. I'm not saying the government should get a piece...but that kind of generational wealth is a problem.

the poster above is right....this money usually sits in a cave somewhere and doesn't stimulate the market in any way.

It doesn't matter if you or me or anyone likes someone getting anything by just existing, but my money is going to my family. I worked for it and it will go where I want it to go. If someone wants their children and their children's children set for life, that's THEIR money and their say-so. It's not a problem.

I never understood the opposition to your idea.  Sure, the Hilton's getting billions comes across as excessive, but if you earn 2 million in your 401k and die before you can use it, why shouldn't your wife or children get that money?  That being said, I am in favor a significant alteration of the tax code.  Yes, billionaires and millionaires should have their taxes increased, but so should the lower 50%.  That 50% of the country doesn't pay any federal income tax is a problem.  They're literally free loaders.  I don't care if it's capped at $100 a year for anyone earning less than $30k.  Everyone should have to give up something.  All these deductions and loopholes should be plugged.  If your tax bracket is 35%, you should kick in 35% and not be able to wiggle out of it through bogus charitable deductions or other exemptions.

I also never understood why having children was rewarded with tax breaks.  If you can't afford to have a child, you shouldn't be having them.  All this concern about global warming, and no one wants to tell people to quit having kids the world doesn't need.  Having a child raises your carbon footbprint by 40x (https://green.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08 … t/?mcubz=0) If both sides would quit their bickering, maybe we could simplify the tax code and cut the middle class a break while making the rich contribute more and making the poor at least have some skin in the game.

It’s a lose lose situation. The irony is the Hollywood elites who support the Kaepernick’s, don’t watch football. Meryl Streep openly mocked football to applause at the oscars.

70% of the NFL is black, and too many buy into the BLM nonsense. People cheered when a google engineer was fired for articulating an opinion in the work place, but taking a knee during the game is somehow different.

I support their right to do what they want. But if Antonio Brown takes a knee, Pittsburgh isn’t going to cut him. He’s too important. Brady could pull a Bruce Jenner and kill someone, and the Patriots wouldn’t blink an eye. Fans in the stadium is an issue, but ticket sales are a minuscule portion of revenue. Pittsburgh has a 10 year waiting list to get season tickets. And even in the stadiums that aren’t full, that doesn’t mean the tickets weren’t sold. It just means the owner of the stadium is losing out on $12 bud light sales.

Turning off the TV is the only thing that will impact the league. But if you discipline the players, no one wants to watch 3rd rate players on the field. There is no right answer.

I’m not turning off my TV. I enjoy football and don’t care what a player does during the anthem anymore than I care if Axl send out a tweet trashing Trump. I came to watch football just like I come to hear good music. If it impacts the thing I came to see, then we have a problem.

This thread just proves some people will never be happy. Your favorite band reunites, goes on a world tour, and people still find reasons to be unhappy. I’ll be seeing them in a few weeks and will enjoy every minute.  But I don’t watch every show on YouTube.

American Assassin. Pretty good film.

But was there classified info on it?  Did he operate entirely on a private email?  Did he control the server? Did he destroy hard drives?  Did he determine which emails should be public knowledge?

I’m not condoning it. But let’s not pretend this is anything of the scale Clinton did.

Everyone does it. When you choose to bitch about it implies something.

I didn't watch the series until I was in Iraq and bought a pirated Haji copy.  I thought they fucked me on the ending.  Great series.  I generally like the ending.
