#251 Re: Guns N' Roses » Song #2 (Unknown Title) » 899 weeks ago
I think it's Prostitute.
I think so too - a bit of a let down if it is. Its a good song but nothing earth shattering. IMO the outro is the best bit - nice stuff. I think most people were expecting a good old-school GNR rocking song about a hooker
Its funny how all the songs that have popped up on setlists are the ones that have leaked (with the exception of Catcher).
I think the band leak them so they have another excuse to delay the album. 'Blame the fans, its all their fault - they keep wanting to listen to our music. Put the release back a year!'.

thats been the rumor for 3 nights now
Yeah. That has nothing to do with the Firecloud guy. The "Sorry" story is coming from ChineseDemocracy.com and he claims to be another hoarder. Apparently he's promised it tonight. They're all waiting for him to come online and "leak" it.
Just a nerd looking for attention probably. Heres hoping though!
#253 Re: Guns N' Roses » If the World leak » 899 weeks ago
The song was on Youtube since 4 months ago???
And its so bad no-one even noticed.
I think he means the live jam thingy - and that someone commented saying that it was If the World.

gnfnraxl wrote:So who do you think was behind those new leaks? And do you think the Axl and management will respond to those leaks via GNR's website? And finally. Will this hinder the release of CD?
A guy called Johnny Firecloud was behind the leaks. Apparently he leaked them as soon as he got them. He claims to have got them from a direct source. (Not Robin) He has no more at the minute but is working on aquiring "many, many more." He also states that there was never a final Chinese Democracy handed in to the record label. According to him it was about 4 or 5 discs worth of material that Axl handed in and these recent leaks are from those discs.
Good luck to Johnny Firecloud then. Hope we hear a lot more stuff and sharpish.
But please no more versions of the same 6 songs over and over..... and certainly no more versions of If The World please. Some rock songs would be nice too, getting all a bit overkill on the ballads.

I thought I was crazy to think that but it appears more people think so too.
Well maybe we are optimistic but only yesterday I was thinking there needs to be more leaks to bring the interest back up in the fanbase.
I honestly think theres more to come, and very soon. Fingers crossed!

I hope that I'm wrong, but it's probably not too far from the truth if it keeps going down this road.
This is something new and obviously it can't please everyone - but I'm just glad for my own sake since this is exactly what I wanted and expected from Guns N' Roses in this day and age.
I love this and I love the direction that it's going. I'm probably sounding biased, but that's how I truly feel.
You wanted and expected lounge music from GNR in this day and age?...
I wanted any music from GNR I could get.
I expected some of it to sound way different then "traditional GNR".
So I guess my answer to the question is yes.
Its always good get 'new' music from GNR - its not often we actually get any so anything is appreciated. Its also good that they try different things, god knows that they've had enough time to experiment. I'm all for bands branching out, as long as it sounds good then it doesnt matter.
Maybe calling If The World 'lounge music' is a little harsh, but its not far off. Maybe its a grower but its not doing much for me at the moment. The othr 2 certainly have their merits as do the other songs that we have had for years.
I'm still looking forward to the album, hopefull we'll see it soon enough. Hopefully by the end of the week - its obvious theres more to come.

You wanted and expected lounge music from GNR in this day and age? Maybe I'm just fussy and want more rock and less ballads. Each to their own. Its gotta only be a short matter of time til this all leaks, then we can all be a bit more objective when listening to the whole album. Or maybe we are still 3 more versions of IRS away from the actual album. Who knows.

war wrote:"catchy" does not equal great song unless you are talking pop music
True, but "incoherent" almost certainly equals not so great song.
That's my general opinion on these songs (all of them), they're incoherent and overproduced.Oh, and someone should ritually slaughter Chris Pittman!
Pretty much agree with you there. It all just sounds like they threw the Pro-Tools up in the air and hoped for the best on some of these songs i.e If the World, Better especially.
Theres very little on display from these guys that can truly stand up to the name Guns N Roses and after such a long time thats a little bizarre. The truth of it to me is a case of 'too many cooks' - a bunch of talent with barely a shred of chemistry all chucking stuff into a pot and seeing what comes out.
Its great to have the new leaks and the songs arent bad but there certainly nothing special, although I'm surprisingly liking Rhiad after the disaster of the live version. The other two dont do a whole lot for me, especially If The World which is pretty much terrible.
Its hard to have a lot of hope and excitement for the album when we have heard half of in different forms a million times before. Its a shame that I (and I'd imagine others) are bored of it before its even released.
#259 Re: Guns N' Roses » If the World leak » 899 weeks ago
I'm sure this one is a real grower, but after a few listens its not doing a whole lot for me. Axl doing lounge music is not a direction that I would want to see embraced further.
Worst of the new leaks for me.

Love the title and the music actually sounds half decent for a change! Nice to see they remembered Kirk Hammett is in the band - that solo sounds killer. Just hope it doesnt come out featuring a dvd of Rob Trujillo's absurd crab walk. This may actually turn out to be pretty good.
Good work on the promo as well, its great to actually be kept informed of stuff.
When does it actually come out though?! Cant wait for this. But then again I was straight to the shops to get St Anger on release day - To buy it, and to take it back.
