Bumble solos, huh? I'm out.
yeah, that's a shame. especially because one of the original versions had brian may on it.
"In addition to these leaked tracks, Classic Rock has heard versions of Rhiad And The Bedouins, Prostitute, Atlas Shrugged (another track featuring the signature guitar of Brian May) and Silkworms." (Classic Rock, 07/07)
Q: Will Brian May appear on Atlas Shrugged?
A: Perhaps on an alternate or bits, on that track it has more to do with recording issues and getting the mix to a good level. (Axl Rose, chinesedemocracy.com, Dec. 2008)
even though he's a good songwriter (normal in particular is awesome), i can't really name a bumble solo that i would describe as tasteful. the shackler's revenge solo is badass, but it's just mindless chaos (which was the intent).

If it was real , somebody would have shared.
People murder other people and still tell somebody over a beer. C'mon.
yeah, if it was real, we'd at least have lyrics at this point.
what a shame -- this was the first time i felt excited about gnr in a while.
at least we have the ritz '87 video to watch.
it's crazy a rumored leak causes a frenzy in the forums stronger than a world tour featuring slash & duff. really tells ya what the fans are looking for, eh?

well, i'm an idiot. i should have listened to the hulkster.

word on the internet is atlas shrugged just randomly leaked out of nowhere.
kaneda jumped on mygnr the other day saying he had it. i figured it was bullshit, but now other people are claiming to have heard the song. sounds like it's a decent ballad with a bumblefoot solo.
wtf is going on?

Randomly, I am probably looking more forward to an Axl autobiography rather than any new GN'R material. For me, I would like to hear how the last 15 years panned out from his perspective, I would find that more interesting.
imagine how chaotic an axl biography would be. i'd doubt he'd want any editors. the whole fuckin' thing would read like this n' shit.
according to sebastian bach, axl has over 12,000 pages already written. i can't find it right now, but i swore there was an actual quote from axl about his autobiography. if i remember right, he said it was all about the breakup from his perspective.
if it does ever come out, it'd get us closer to the truth, which would lie somewhere in between slash and axl's take on things.
i'd take a documentary of the cd saga over anything, though. give me footage of the band rehearsing unreleased songs, show us axl cracking jokes in the studio, buckethead playing ungodly solos in a chicken coop surrounded by husky shit, etc. that period of the band was way too entertaining not to be captured on film.
#256 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » MINDBLOWING: Buckethead talks for an hour on podcast » 413 weeks ago
this was the last headline i'd ever thought i'd read. i was just telling someone how buckethead has kept kayfabe over his career better than any wrestler could ever dream of. i always told myself that if a pic of bucket's face ever hit the web, i'd try my hardest never to look at it.
listening to this is very surreal. i almost turned it off right away. this gives me the same type of feelings i saw darth vader's real face for the first time.
i'm only like 20 minutes in at this point. can't wait to get the fuck home and finish this.

hopefully brain gets back in the studio with bucket of these days. those guys are magic together and don't have a lot represented on record.
if brain is the drummer on the supposed bucket/bootsy collaboration in the works, then we're really in store for something special. but i'm dreaming!

I don't know what's more surprising: the drunken Axl v Fernando accidental release debacle or the fact that the record company actually was cool with releasing Appetite For Democracy.
I'll go with the latter. Dreadful.
yeah, the entirety of "appetite for democracy" is a complete joke. i get what they were trying to go for with the name, but it sounds dumb as hell in reality. clearly everyone had just given up at that point. it's such a shame that for all the different incarnations of new guns, the clown show w/ ashba is what they decided to capture and release in 3d blu ray.
anywho... once this tour ends, i'm sure "the label" would support the release of a not in this lifetime dvd. have a few interns chop up a few hours of footage, then release the sucker at rake in the profits. what's to lose?
if that sells well, which it would... that would open up the gate for a single, re-release, etc.

so what's the deal with guns n roses and geffen these days?
i don't recall axl being too happy with the label after chinese democracy came out with zero fanfare. i'd guess things went totally dark after cd 2 was turned in and supposedly rejected.
still, it's baffling how geffen haven't tried to capitalize on this cash grab. i thought for sure we'd see something for afd 30, so perhaps there's still a "cold war" of sorts? you'd think slash and duff being around with be enough to smooth things over.
if the band woke up one day after the tour ended and wanted to release an album, how would that even work?
#260 Re: Guns N' Roses » Knockin' on Heaven's Door » 414 weeks ago
The 2002 version was boring. Completely sucked the life out of the cool anthemic rock track they released in 1991.
i liked the groovy, relaxed take on it.
mostly because bucket played a great solo each night. his rio version is especially nice!
axl's vocals were the weak link back then, go figure.
today, i have no idea what's going on with this song. it's like accidentally listening to a record at the wrong speed.
frank needs a xanax before getting on stage.
