Yikes to that Axl rant. I don't get the context.

I assume if he shitted on someone here there would be a bunch of group think and everyone taking Axl's side. I like Mr. Rose but that rant on whomever was wacked.

No one should be name calling Ms. Melissa Reese. Obviously she is qualified for the gig. So what if she is hot or she's not hot in your books? That shouldn't have any bearing on anything. Judge a person on what they bring to the round table.

This review licked back side anal hair.

I mean really?

Doesn't legend state that Axl canceled Philly to watch a basketball game? And that he was in the air when Vancouver was canceled? Dude showed up and performed.

Should be applauded, for performing hurt and you know not having that usual stage performance he has.

I assume the worst that could happen is they coat check it like what happened with the Killers ha.

I get what some people are saying here.

But, really it shouldn't matter if some fuck wants to take photos at your show. As long as they have a ticket and aren't annoying everyone around them.

Look. Don't be a douchebag.
You need written permission to take a camera into a random show. They have an official photographer already Katarina Benzova.
I doubt they want another one.

The worst that could happen is that they take your camera and send you away.
It's written there on the ticket when you buy it.
No recording equipment.

You won't legally own the pictures if they're taken illegally either.
Putting them in your portfolio will only show the world that you've done something illegal and don't know enough about your craft to have worked that out beforehand.

I'm pretty sure you do own the pictures. As you're required to sign a waiver. Anyone shooting with their cellphone owns a picture.

Thanks for the name calling asshole.

Please spare me the whole illegal moral high ground bullshit.

Also, at what point did I say I wanted to be an official photographer at the event? You're now putting words in my mouth.

Anyhow, that's all I got to say about this, as you're a dipshit in my book, kid. You want to troll and name call well, what kind of response did you expect? THANKS DAD.

Realistically you'd need a pretty decent zoom lens in addition to the camera body.  Security nowadays is pretty tight ( i believe some venues have metal detectors).  Mostly, they'll be searching for people sneaking in beers, but I wouldn't want them to catch me bringing a camera in. I don't know what they do but my guess is you'll just walk back to your car & come back & wait in (long) line all over again.

In the summer heat, it'll be hard to sneak a DSLR & Lens in.  IMHO at least.

What's the point?

If you're trying to build a portfolio, get media credentials. Go photograph bands who are young and don't care. Go to clubs or theaters.

The point is capturing the moment from my perspective and not on my cellphone.

I've done media credentials before and got some. Like I said though, an artist of that caliber would likely not respond to someone like me. Plus I wouldn't be asking to be in the photo pit, but, just taking a few at my seat. Also, some media credentials take away the photographers copyright. For example look at: The Foo Fighters / Taylor Swift.

So again if anyone has tidbits that would be appreciated. I can handle being shit on, but, yeah.

That's the only way to be.

I like the stubs.

I once saw New Order first row, but it was online print off and not a stub.

Mine are coming in the mail as well baby!

Yeah but that's warped at best. Like Izzy, Slash and Duff quit after being turned into employees in something they helped create. Sure Axl was around in the band before the AFD line up - but that line up was going no where ala Rapid Fire.

Adler is the drunken embarrassing friend you have. I don't think he can go the places Axl Rose and rest of the band would want to go if they release something creative. The weakest link in the AFD 5.

I'm not advocating having him back as the full time drummer. But I don't see why he can't be wheeled out and allowed to play Nighttrain every night as part of the encore or something that would give him something to live for in life yet cost the band nothing.

Going to disagree with your Matt assessment. I think he's an asshole.

Based on what though?

Based on the attitude he has had in interviews with Velvet Revolver, how he has been described in the past, and the attitude he projects.

The dude is no Josh Freese. That guy is legit, nice, and unbelievably fucking talented.

That's what I'm getting at - like online I keep reading about how Matt is a dick - but the truth of it is GNR is a band of people that look out for number one.

Axl taking control of the band and turning partners into employees was kinda fucked.

Not letting Adler have even a cameo insignificant role is kinda fucked.

You all know how much I love these guys but I don't think Matt is any worse than anyone else in the band.

His logic would be he was in the band from day one before the Appetite line up and the people that were in the band with him from day 1 quit.

I don't think it is that fucked.

Adler is a mess. Huge liability. I don't think they've buried the hatchet or he wants Adler involved.

Adler is the drunken embarrassing friend you have. I don't think he can go the places Axl Rose and rest of the band would want to go if they release something creative. The weakest link in the AFD 5.

He wasn't involved in Velvet Revolver for a reason. Not involved with Guns N' Roses for a reason.

Like honestly as a business person I would not want Adler involved and as a bandmate as well. Yes everyone was doing drugs and shit, but obviously they handled it better than Adler and they were more important in the band.

Going to disagree with your Matt assessment. I think he's an asshole.

I think Axl treats people that work for him great. He has never come across as a money grabbing fuck. That licenses his brand to everything. He is more than generous with his songwriting credits and he gives due where due is due.

If Adler is ever involved with the band it will be as a guest, if they let that ever happen. It wouldn't ever be a full time gig. It would be take a bow for one song and please fuck off stage left after the song.

even if you set aside any sort of grudge over comments made publicly, axl has always been very loyal to his bandmates as long as they've been loyal to him and he just wasn't going to cast frank aside when frank has done everything asked and been a good soldier.

That's why the Pitman development was so puzzling.

I miss Mother Goose.

Especially when we know Pitman was involved in making the movie theater trailer.

Could make a few educated guesses on possible reasons he's out, but don't know for sure.

Didn't he make some comments that weren't that good?

Likely that punched him a ticket to unemploymentville.

I had no idea where to put this. I was thinking maybe in the Vegas, but it isn't for that show.

So I am wondering how many out there use a DSLR?

I know that when I go to any concerts I try and get my camera in. The Killers was one show I got mine in. They hate cameras as Brandon Flowers brother in law does the photography. Also, Brian Wilson I had to coat check mine, but got it at the encore. After, two failed attempts to get it in. One was I pretended to be at the ATM and just proceeded to go to my seat ha.  I am not selling the photographs for profit, but building a portfolio for myself and just trying to get more experience. Also, with cellphones it is not like their picture isn't going to be taken or their souls taken ha.

Has anyone here gotten their DSLR in to a show?

I know with those asshole terrorists we get metal detected now up here in Canada (SkyDome). I assume with guns and what not you guys get  the wand or the walkthrough detection in the states.

I'm going to the Detroit show at Ford Field, so I assume the band doesn't like having people take in their cameras.

Anyway around that?

I don't assume their management would respond to some fucking Canuck that just wants to take pictures from his seat.

An in with the band might help, but, I have no media reputation so yeah.

Just wondering if anyone had any idea or thoughts.

Thanks.

P.S. Yes I don't want Axl Rose jumping in the crowd and breaking my camera / causing a Panic in Detriot ha.
