It's called getting old. In either case I don't think the majority of fans thinks that deep about these things. Jon is a likeable guy, Axl is not. That would be my guess for why one is slammed and the other isn't.

On the other hand Axl actually has widespread cred as a musician. wink

Dawn of the Dead is another favorite of mine. The pace is exceptional, you're not bored for a second. Chainsaw etc. are good, but a lot more standard fare, relying too much on the originals.

'The Thing' (1982)

Greatest horror movie ever made. The ending is insanely and uniquely brilliant. How modern directors fail to take a page from this book is beyond me.

Since when did biased become lies?

Alan is on speaking terms with both Slash and Izzy, of course he's going to give them a pass. So when Slash says he's willing to bend over for money he doesn't rip him. When the heart and soul of GN'R leaves the band in the middle of a tour that's just understandable. When Slash steals and lies in his late 40's and has jeopardized his professional relationship through excessive drug use, he's still a loving, caring family man.

But when Axl does something he calls him a narcissist who should "get over it". When he takes the band in a different direction with the Illusions "he's ruining GN'R music" (despite every hard core fan loving those albums). When Steven gets fired for being a junkie by the other junkies, the clean guy who is the only one to visit him and give support "is all about his ego". When he fronts the bill for Doug Goldstein the only asshole is Axl, not the rest of the band. When the lead singer of THE band at the time has issues with the manager splitting his time with a lesser, inferior band he's an egomaniac bent on total control.

Is Axl an unstable guy who has done a lot of crazy shit over the years? Yes. Is he the only asshole in the old band? No, so stop acting like he was. Like it or not, he was elemental in making their debut a 50 million smash hit. He was elemental in the follow ups selling almost the same combined. Ie. he was elemental in Alan's severance package being 2 mill instead of 200k (random numbers). How about showing some of the respect you demand of him?

Hope you get it up, that Billy Idol song was so killer in that quality.

I actually have all GN'R albums on vinyl, but I've never had a player. 14

I'd say telling somebody to "get over it" is making light of somebody's experience. And far as I can remember Axl never used any of that as a crutch.

Other than that he's clearly got an Ax to grind, but it's really only that statement that made my eyes jolt. We all know Axl is about as calm as a bomb, but the rest of the guys weren't exactly angels either. I'd have appreciated at least some balance to the story. There really is no difference to how he's treating Axl here and how Axl treats his experience with, say Slash. Extremely one sided.

Found a gem on Manson's latest album.

Assuming that what he said is indeed true.  No reason not to believe him, but unless Izzy says it (which he won't), I'm not sure we can claim it as 100% fact.

The story is kinda weird. Why would Izzy go and play a show with him shortly thereafter being snubbed like that? Izzy doesn't let himself get picked on the nose. Out of all the ex members he's maybe the guy who has been the most blunt with Axl in the press, so I wouldn't put it past him to mention it at one point.

I don't think Alan is making it up either, so maybe it was a case of somebody in the GNR camp telling Izzy they were trying to set something like that up. But even that is a bit strange, shouldn't Izzy be able to call him up or go to his house if he wants to? I think Baz talked about texting with him, so he's not unapproachable.

I tried to empower his communication skills by illuminating his understanding

If he talked to Axl like that there clearly was no future in the relationship.
