#291 Re: Guns N' Roses » MATT SORUM 'Wasn't Asked' To Take Part In GUNS N' ROSES Reunion » 492 weeks ago
Ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum says that he isn't participating in the band's comeback shows because he wasn't asked to take part in the reunion of GN'R's classic lineup.
Only singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan from GN'R's "Appetite For Destruction"-era lineup took part in this past weekend's Las Vegas shows and the April 1 surprise gig at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. They were joined by keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus and drummer Frank Ferrer. Also appearing with them was second keyboardist Melissa Reese.
Asked by a fan on Twitter if he is going to perform with GN'R on the reunion tour, Sorum answered: "No Sir , they didn't ask me"
Sorum, who replaced Steven Adler in GUNS N' ROSES, recorded the highly successful albums "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" (both 1991) and "The Spaghetti Incident" (1994). He also supported the group on the "Use Your Illusion" tour and can be heard on GUNS N' ROSES' "Live Era: '87-'93" (1999) and "Greatest Hits" (2004).
Adler last year spoke about how he would feel about a hypothetical reunion of the classic GN'R lineup which would include Matt Sorum on drums instead of him. "Matt wouldn't do it," Adler said. "I see Matt practically every Monday night, and we talked about it. He wouldn't do it unless I was a part of it. And I said, 'Well, dude, I would do it without you.' And he said, 'But you're the original guy. You're the sound of GN'R. I'm not. So it's different.' And I said, 'If I did it, if Axl wanted to play the '[Use Your] Illusion' songs, I would have you right next to me. You come up and I'll either take the throne or sit where I sit.'… Sort of like [the way we did it] at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame [induction in 2012]. They didn't show that part on TV, I don't think, but [Matt] played 'Brownstone', and then I came up and played 'Sweet Child' and 'Paradise City'."
Adler continued: "But, yeah, I have nothing against Matt. He didn't do nothing. I had resentments with him, but I talked with him and I worked everything out. Everything. I would love to share a tour bus with him."
Sorum told The Pulse of Radio in a 2009 interview that if the classic GUNS N' ROSES band reunited, they should perform with both him and Adler. "If it's me on drums or Steven or whatever, if it happened, it'd be great, you know. I would actually say to them, 'Hey, bring both of us back,' you know. Let me play the other stuff. We'll have two drum kits. I don't care. If 'Appetite' ('For Destruction', the band's debut) sounds better with Steven playing it, have both guys up there. They can afford it."
GUNS N' ROSES was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2012. Adler, Sorum, Slash and Duff McKagan attended the ceremony, while Rose and former guitarist Izzy Stradlin stayed home.
GUNS N' ROSES are still scheduled to play two shows in Mexico City and two gigs at the Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival starting next weekend. A full North American tour is on tap for this summer.

Uh having two drummers on stage is fucking lame. It is like hippie commune Grateful Dead over the hill styles.
I mean I don't hate the Grateful Dead. But that's what I think about with two drummers.
It just isn't necessary and is way bloated.
But, but, but what about two keyboardists? Still not as lame as two drummers. Why not two bassists?
I'm glad he wasn't asked, cause he is an asshole. Also, why would you have both him and Steven? That means less money for the other members of the band. I wouldn't ever have two drummers unless they wanted to split their share, which I would be paying them if they were doing it individual wise.
Props on him not asking. Just a piss poor attitude, and took way too many shots at Axl.
Glad no lines in the sand were drawn.
This tour is going to be phenomenal.

Toronto was so fucking hard to get tickets.
I literally got tickets in section 119 of the Skydome (yeah that's right not the fucking Rogers Centre) and I was like fuck that...
I opened my other browser to try and get G/A pit tickets. Boom, nothing.
This was literally at 10:00 at the latest 10:01. I tried searching for G/A pit tickets in my other browser and boom nothing as well.
So I lost out on the tickets I had that weren't the best. After that at 10:02 it was all basically sold out. I was rather pissed.
However, the SkyDome blows.
But, I got tickets to Detroit at Ford Field. That are actually decent.
I am stoked.
Going to try and get the setlist, which will be hard. But, I manage to get a lot of them when I go to shows. Anyone going to Detroit and want to help with that ha, I'll be in your debt.

Maybe he did one of those flying air kicks in rehearsal, which he did back in the UYI tour days. And bam.
Or when he fell at the Troubadour, he messed up his foot and soldiered on.

A lot of the shit I've read here has been sexiest.
Like who the fuck cares how good or not good looking she is.
OBVIOUSLY... She has the talent to be up on stage.
If you're a Pitstop (positive word for Pitman) or a Pitfucker (negative word for his fans), guess what? Maybe the dude shouldn't have run his mouth and acted like he was a big part of the band. Dude was Axl's bitch plain and simple. Obviously he is out. So let's move on.
#295 Re: Guns N' Roses » AXL In ACDC??? » 493 weeks ago
Yeah I just don't get the Axl hate.
He is an artist, and just doesn't release shit after shit after shit. He takes his time with music and has a vision.
Some dip shit from Disturbed or whatever the band name has no relevancy.
So when people shit talk Mr. Axl Rose, it all comes down to jealously. They're jealous of his talent, stature, integrity, unpredictability, morality, and a tad bit of craziness.
The only person that has come close to Axl Rose live has been Iggy Pop. I've never seen a frontman better than him. And I've seen the Stones and AC / DC at Sars Stock in Canada.
To conclude, fuck the haters.
Also fuck you DJ Ashba, I still hate you.

Whatever happened to that hot british lady that used to be on roses of velvet?
I used to be on HTGTH but that wank Jarmo banned me aka Jimmer Jammer.
I think I made a post about it being bs about Dj Ashba or something I can't remember.
#298 Re: Guns N' Roses » What does a reunion mean for Axl's Vault? » 493 weeks ago
I want to hear the General.
I always imagined it would feature some military marching of the heels and a snare beat with it and lots of distortion included.

Izzy was at the 4th Hammerstein show
Thanks for the refresher. I hope I still have my ticket stub.
I hate the new paper tickets people print off at home. Always I've been a fan of a stub.
Was that the last one? I can't remember much.
But didn't fucking Kid Rock come out as well? That was the only low point of the show ha.
I remember jokingly talking about rioting, with people, and this wiener security guard was like please don't (all sadish) ha ha ha.

I saw Guns in 2002 in Toronto, and the Hammerstein show 2006 with Izzy (I think that was the first one?), man does it feel good to see him back up there with Slash and Duff together.
All they need is Izzy, and I won't piss on the Adler lovers.
But, man does it look good.
In my ideal world Robin would be there instead of Fortus, but alas!
From a liability standpoint it makes sense not to have Izzy (commitment) and Adler (junk and stuff) being there.
However, I'd want the Izzy factor due to the songwriting ability.
Perhaps, the Axl, Slash, and Duff are very wary of those two hence why they might just be guests and what not.
If one of the two are coming back. It seems like Izzy is the easiest to bring back. But, can he handle the full time touring gig. I think he was brought back full time they would do a three person guitar shindig. Having Fortus there as insurance. In case the Iz man goes AWOL.
Either way, thinks looks great, and I am happy for the band.
I haven't been this excited in a long time. Ever since Robin left, I basically was like fuck that band. Now that this is the lineup I am happy.
No more Ashba, no more nightmares.
