Fair point…but until the discussion turns more analytical and less about blaming one person for decades of foreign policy failures then I’ll just wait out the histrionics.

I’ll continue to say so long as Trump is the shadow puppet I’ll not consider the GOP in any capacity to be a relevant party.

Syria was destroyed. Now Afghanistan is a mess…

I’d really like to see these conflicts come to an end. Lotsa people made profits off of this conflict continuing.

Can someone succinctly describe to me what the goal was in 2021?

Syria has been ruled by one family since the 70s. It erupted into a civil war in the wake of the Arab Spring that then became even more of a mess when ISIS entered the fray. That conflict is still ongoing, but Syria has not been "destroyed".

It is still internationally recognised as being run by the same government that has been in charge for decades now. It is not a war that is directly the fault of the USA or the West (although a case could be made about indirect fault). The US's primary involvement in this conflict has been in fighting ISIS, and has mostly remained out of the main conflict - although it clearly has a side that it backs.

Why are you conflating these two? They are not the same. You want "more analytical" discussion. How about you read up and follow the news.

Nah…i think I’m just gonna back to not caring.

I feel bad for the refugees but this was a shit storm decades in the making…i neither have the time nor the desire to research the last damn near 50 years. Especially when it will result in nothing.

I’m gonna hold my kids a bit tighter the next few days and move on.

"I don't give a shit to learn about this conflict, I'm just going to stop caring. Time to move on."

The 12 year old Afghan girl who is about to watch her Dad get beheaded for assisting the allied forces before she's raped from daylight to dawn for the rest of her life, she doesn't get to move on.

You vote for the people who make these decisions, you go on and on about how the last guy was bad and how awful and dangerous his foreign policy was. When the consequences of your guy's foreign policy blows up you don't get to check out and then swan back in later for the next event.

This disaster did not have to be decades in the making. And at the least, those who helped the coalition forces deserves some thanks, rescue and respect.

I remember ROV launching during the 05/06 leak period. One of it's big draws was links to them could openly be posted 16

Holy shit. This gave me goosebumps.

Wow.

It is scary that this album...which is a monster already in its original form....could have easily been improved in the mixing phase.

Found this out when watching this documentary....

Album should've got a rerelease in 92-93 with a different mix....they could've milked it for another year.

Love the opening 1991 footage showing fans. Really makes me long for that time. Such an amazing world back then.

In that video you linked they mention the orchestra mix at like the 43 minute mark. I think we're basically getting that alternate album mix with this release. Exciting times.

I hadn't thought of that in a coon's age.

It was awkward as hell.

He gets a semi-decent crowd pop but kills it with his awkwardness once getting up there.

It was short.... that's all it had going for it.

I remember the forums going ape shit at the time.

Another sign some shit was actually on the launchpad in 06. It's only getting arranged for him to do stuff like this if something was in the works.

Sounds like a serious lack of coordination between allied forces and frustration with US top brass and their handling + mission objectives.

I found the video in this thread both a little funny but also tragic in light of recent events. The complete wrong types were sent in to that army and were deployed into the field way too early, before those habits were trained out of them.

Dumb thread, inaccurate quote, putting words in Axl's mouth, and a waste of everyone's time.

Yeah. It is the first time in 30 years "we" i.e. Axl, Slash & Duff have put out a new song together.

Yeah we already heard BBF's version of silkworms from 06 it leaked in like 2013. Very poorly mixed the person put all of ron's guitar just in the left channel so it is pretty much impossible to get it to sound right. It was also played at the after party where The General leak was. I am surprised out of all songs, Silkworms was being worked on for 20 years lol However the silkworms from The General leak had more guitars so it must have gotten worked on some more hmmm. Wonder if we will ever hear the 08 versions of these songs. Would rather hear the 03 versions, but knowing this band if there ever is a boxset it will be the Ashba Versions

Not really fair to call that BBF's version of Silkworms. It was a sketch track with the song panned all the way to one side and him adding ideas or things he could play over it at certain time points in the song. He'll have probably done more than one of those and eventually when in an actual studio tracked a whole bunch more.

We actually have no idea how an end BBF/Ashba era Absurd sounded.
