Looks like its Jungle again by popular vote. Whenever someone gets around to it I guess. A lot going on right now though.

I think Pete Townsend voiced a pretty similar objection back in the day. Dave is all about the performance, the embodiment of the late 70s early 80s party train, and just a fun dude to watch and listen to. That's why everyone loves Dave. In some ways, he was VH's "hype man." Dave-a Flav.

Yeah, I was more thinking along the line of who's gonna close my stupid song of the week poll.

Not sure what's gonna happen here, but the whole thing is a shame from end to end. To be perfectly honest, I don't even know who the other mods are here. BLS? Lofton? Anyone else?

Things are a little bit different now though. The rumors about Axl not being happy with DJs writing...
So let me expose my total lack of cross-board knowledge here, but do any of these rumors have even a second or third hand source, other than originating on a message board?
It's like this whole Robin talk- we're just shooting the shit really. There's literally nothing to go on, it doesn't even rise to the level of conjecture- it's just plain old "wouldn't it be cool" (or "NO" depending on your stance.) We're just farting around.
The only reason I ask is, I love shooting the shit and arguing hypotheticals, but it kind of rubs me the wrong way when info we (or another board, shitty article, etc.) talk what-ifs for long enough that we forget none of it has even the tiniest root in reality.
And that's not a challenge to you, by the way. I'm honestly interested if there's ever been a rumor with any basis that Axl doesn't like DJs writing. And not releasing anything doesn't really count to me, since Ax can do that all on his own.

I'm not his hugest fan, but pull your shit together dude. You're gonna die.
Yeah, I'm assuming a relapse is in play here, my apologies in advance if I'm wrong.

There's also the factor for me that I love it when songs get changed up in live performances. Again, not excusing the few wet farts here and there, but changing up what's expected and taking it in new directions can be pretty cool.

For what it's worth, the guitars are very important to me. In fairness, that solo on YCBM is a hot mess (not to mention Brain's botched intro). But you have your hits and misses. I was going to say that I never think of Slash when I listen to Robin, but I realized that's totally untrue. In fact, my brain is expecting Slash's solos, so when he goes off on his own the differences jump out hugely to me.
BUT, for what GNR might have morphed into back in the Robin/Bucket days, I got some major thrills out of those changes. The good ones were really awesome, especially if you bought into a new direction. The bad ones were bad, but that's the price of experimenting. And I think that would have continued to smooth out over time, as they "found" their new parts. Sort of like how DJ totally butchered This I Love at first, til he said fuck it and put his own voice on it.

Much stronger than the first one. Still looking forward to this release!
