Here we go again...

I follow Metallica very closely and I'd really to see where exactly the band stated that they were "going back to their roots" on St Anger. The only people who said that were the ones actually hoping for it. The band always stated that St Anger would be a fucked up, ugly metal album with some of the speed of their earlier material, which is pretty dead on.

The fact that the band are actually saying their new stuff is like their 80's material gives me hope that it might actually be true.

Yeah, I love the first Unforgiven, it's one of Metallica's best songs. Killer melody, riff, lyrics and solo that all just fit so perfectly together. The second was ok, but seemed thrown together with little thought. I'm curious where they'll go with part 3.

The closest thing I've seen or heard about to a tour diary was the Kerrang GN'R tour special magazine that came out late 1993 or 1994. A reporter was on the road with them (I think) for most of the gigs from 1992-93 and wrote short blurbs about each gig right up until the very last show in 1993. Some very cool tidbits and photos in there.

Which songs do you mean??

His solos in the Blues and Better are up there with some of my fav Slash GN'R solos.

Why would Jim Bob go, he hates Slash, or $la$h, as he refers to him...

My point wasn't a diss at NIN at all, I love NIN, but as a guitar player, I think GN'R's music is much more interesting (not to mention much more fun) to play. And I think Robin is quite a good lead guitarist too, especially on his own songs.

No one else is seriously cringing at this?  Fergie killed that song.

I thought she sang it quite well actually. I don't hear her hitting any dud notes or anything.

And Slash nailed it too.

The guitar stuff in NIN is mainly bar chords, there's not really any lead guitar work like that which we get to hear in Robin's new GN'R tracks like Better, The Blues etc.

And last we saw Robin on tour with GN'R he was a long-haired, bearded hippie, I don't know if that suits NIN. But hey, as long as Robin is happy playing, that's the main thing. Maybe he gets a bit like Slash, and just likes to keep himself busy playing instead of waiting around?

The last time he played SCOM is back when he was in GN'R isn't it?

I don't like Fergie at all, but it's really fucking cool to hear Slash playing this again.
