Huge letdown. Haven't listened to it in a coon's age.

We're lucky they bothered to release it. It's obviously unfinished.

Even if the rest are in a similar state of completion, hopefully we get some of those too.

20 years was long enough.

Ides of March is Circus Maximus

'Ides of March' was a working title of one of the songs that came from a loop name that Dizzy came up with: I think they kept the name, but it's been years so I'm sure everything has changed by now." (Dave Dominguez, Sp1at, 02/07/05)

To quote Wasted regarding circus maximus"Would you say this has a Dizzy Loop on it?"

Yeah .. I doubt Ides of March is Nothing. Seems like a huge stretch.

On the other hand, they seemed to have a fetish for constantly changing working titles...and if there was a brief attempt at sticking to a particular theme, it's possible Ides and Circus were two different songs.

How the hell does Oklahoma morph into Berlin? What's the connection?

Look at Seven.... God only knows what that really is. Devious Bastards has a clip of the Mercury 7 astronauts.

Coincidence?  Did they scrap this song.... obviously a Bucket song ...but reuse that clip for Seven?

There's very little rhyme or reason to any of it unfortunately.

I know one thing.....the CD leftovers and the Village leaks show us that just because a song title appears to be epic doesn't make it so...even if described as such eons ago. A song that might have been epic couldn't be because it was simply abandoned/relegated to the "B list".

I don't have the songs....just listened a few times on YouTube.

I don't even have Atlas or Nothing!

New video for the 50th anniversary.

Amazing.

The box set is killer. I was worried after that terrible 50th anniversary Dark Side box set that had less material than the Immersion set.

While it's cool and definitely improved over the old bootleg, a bit concerning that they used an ancient fan bootleg for the live discs/LPs. I really hate how these major acts approaching death are still hoarding material.

Was also hoping for a remix but on the other hand....like Dark Side, it really can't be improved.

Did a remix for Animals because it needed it.

Highlights of this set....

Was there ever a time when American sports were not a cartel? Parity in sport sucks. Seeing the same thing over in Europe with all the money flowing in. Everything sanitized, everybody allowed to compete. Keep the money flowing. Sport is fun when it is brutal. It's supposed to be a substitute for war, not this nerdy shit. Players are worse too. Bunch of dandies.

Our generation got to experience the final chapter of the golden age (90s-mid 00s).

It's been in a tail spin ever since. Mitch brought up some of the main issues....

Neutering/sanitizing the game to the point it will be flag football within 10-15 years.

The Pro Bowl is already flag football!!!

College football players back in the day were penalized/banned if they got a single nickel from the college.

They now earn millions a year and everyone is ok with this.

I wish I could find the article from around 20 years ago that was eerily accurate regarding how parity would destroy the league. Not only predicted the continued massive success of Belichick-Brady but also predicted another team would instantly take over when their run was over.

That's exactly what happened!

We're about to witness it again now that the Chiefs run is ending. The only question is which team. It's probably time for Belichick to come back.

Another thing destroying the league is the constant promotion and obsession with betting. Back in the day, they couldn't even mention this shit.

Now the league sponsors it!

This is all leading to a massive scandal of rigged games. It's inevitable.

I just wish the Bears or Ravens could win one more Superbowl before the whole thing comes crashing down.

Anyone watch the Steelers-Dolphins game?

What an abomination.

The Dolphins literally gave up in the 3rd quarter.

Total yards for the Dolphins in that quarter?

-20 yards

My grandma could've at least gained a yard or two.

Fourth quarter even worse just in a different way....no hurry up offense whatsoever. They were playing like they were winning 42-0.

Only highlight of the game was Aikman and Buck ranting about how unacceptable it is.

Tua earns 53 million a year to laugh/smile while he loses.

The NFL has massive problems.

Frankly the idiots at Interscope are to blame for that fiasco. Roy Thomas Baker among them. The only way a rewamped GNR could work is if it was totally different from the old band. At least Axl seems to have understood this at first. You can't have Finck and BH on stage playing Nightrain. Predictably people would just ask where the fuck is Slash.

The 2000 album would have sold more than 2008 CD if it was released. And once the shock was over they could have built on that with interesting, alternative rock n roll for years to come.

When the record company rejected it, Axl should have just gone for the reunion then and there, but understandable why he didn't considering how much he had invested.

Could he have just forced them? Say, ok you wanted an album, here is the album. Either release it or fuck off. I suppose they would have just sat on it. No wonder he felt between a rock and a hard place.

There was an easy way for Axl to get the label to release CD within a couple months.....

They would've been forced to fast track a release. Looking back it's amazing it didn't happen anyways. The songs were already in circulation. The fan base was unlucky that they circulated in the wrong hands.

It should've leaked openly on The Velvet Rope in 2003-4.

#38 Re: The Sunset Strip » Most Recent Movie You've Seen » 8 weeks ago

Around 99% of actors can't even properly act anymore. They're basically just playing themselves...and they're all so unlikeable.

Films don't have any personality whatsoever. Back in the day, the cities/location would pretty much be their own character in the film.

Not anymore.

Comedies are pure garbage and have been for years. They're not funny.

I really wish we had some of the old comedians alive right now to see what we've become. Imagine the likes of Don Rickles, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, etc being brought back from the dead and thrust into this dystopic Idiocracy.

We have one of the greats still alive...

Mel Brooks. Unfortunately he's probably too scared of being cancelled or simply too old to give a shit.

I said it years ago....a much younger Mel Brooks would mock all this insanity.

A Harriet Tubman movie starring Margot Robbie

Supergirl starring a male actor

On the subject of Netflix -Warner Bros...

If the world can ever go back to normal, I want a president to break up all these massive corporations.

If someone wants to watch ESPN, they're not really watching ESPN. They're watching Disney.

The slop Americans eat was made by one of three companies.

It's obscene and this shit has gone on long enough.

absolutely fascinating how bad this tour is selling so far. most stadiums are still completely empty.

They've run the reunion completely into the ground. All they care about is money....fast money.

They aren't willing to do what other major acts do....go away.

Anyone who wants to see them has already went to a show. They offer nothing new to entice crowds to come back for another fix. This 1-2 song shit which only promotes the tour for a couple days just doesn't cut it.

When they do these nostalgia tours, they can't even do it right. They released the UYI anniversary box set a year late, never mentioned it, and just kept the same boring show going non stop.

That should've been a tour revolving around performing UYI with the main hits thrown in.

They don't bother because they don't care.

The Stones know how to do all this shit properly. Maybe they could hire Mick Jagger's great grandkids nanny as manager.

What I don’t get is why they don’t hire a social media person to hype/market this new stuff (songs) to casuals.

This is how you reach people today .  It’s almost like they are stuck in the 20th century.

Not unbelievable that Axl still lives in a 90s bubble. Nobody to challenge him, nobody to teach him new things. Everybody just tip toeing while he continues to do the same things he did 30 years ago.

Absolutely.

The reunion along with the bubble allows him to pretend it's 1991 every night on stage and any time a "new" song is discussed....he gets to pretend it's the early chapter of the CD saga when millions were interested in the project.

Just a complete insulation from reality.

But Team Brazil and Axl had brilliant marketing plan !

Delay the songs while they're touring and release them 5 months before their next tour date !

Also make sure you use the shit mix job from a guy (Caram) whose been gone from the band's employment for 2 years !

Before we're all dead I wish they would allow someone like Guthrie to remix all the tracks and put them on one disc.

It would be great to hear all this music worked on by an actual professional.

Unfortunately they don't want fans hearing any of their material remixed. They even killed the UYI remix which fans have wanted for eons.
