I'm with the group that thinks Slash's sobriety has improved his playing ability live. When I saw VR back in 2005, his playing was really sloppy. He fretted out on alot of songs and his bends weren't always on key. He admits in his book about being off the wagon during that time. When I saw VR in 2008, it was a completely different story. He nailed every song and his solo/blues jam thing was amazing.

I just finished Fatal Vision (Joe McGinniss) for school. Now on to Stuff White People Like (Christian Lander)...

Honestly, the album is sounding like Snakepit III. And that is coming from a huge Slash fan. I was actually excited when I heard "By The Sword" because I thought that the rest of the songs on the album would be just as good if not better. It's turning out to be the exact opposite.

On his old site, Robin had pics of his rig for the 06-07 tours. I remember the heads he used were JCM 2000s and I saw a couple Boss Blues Driver pedals on his rack. IIRC, bbf used a Line 6 Vetta II amp on that tour also.
edit: heres some more info on his setup

This is probably the best season yet. John Lithgow is great!

I saw him a few years ago. Awesome show. It was actually the show they recorded for the live album.

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not going out to see them when they came through Detroit.
