I just exploded in my pants. I expect someone to hook a brother up with an "internet" version when this thing drops. I have a 2 week wait to get stuff from the states. Finally this album is coming.

James I'm glad to see you've finally come around to McCain. A few months ago you rock solid for Obama, so I'm glad that some people are willing to objectively evaluate the candidates and get beyond the meaningless hope and change garbage Obama vomits on TV every night. McCain is far from perfect and I have some slight issues with Palin, but at least they're living in the real world and not fantasia or never never land.

The affect Palin will have on the election remains to be seen. The buzz around her is far greater than Biden's selection and certainly rivals the media stardom given to Obama when he was against Clinton. Unfortuately I'm not able to watch the convention or listen to commentators, so the internet is the only insight I have into it. Give it 2 weeks and you'll have an idea of any gains or losses. By the firts debate, the election will be essentially gridlocked with very small gains here and there. If I had to bet, I'd say McCain pulls it off just because people generally like to go with familiarity and Obama's resume leaves much to desire. Like him or love him, voting for Obama is just as much as taking a "chance" as McCain made by picking Palin. McCain is still up in the states that matter (again, quit using national polls as some sort of gauge; they mean shit - electoral counts is where it's at) but Obama can certainly make osme moves, though the monetary advantage he had against Clinton doesn't exist against McCain. Time will tell, but no one can claim McCain's ticket doesn't appeal to bi-partisanship and accomplishments when compared to Obama's highly partisan campaign. When the running mate of the modern Democratic party's golden boy is backing a republican, you know it's not business as usual. Either way, the country will go on, Obama will just fuck it up more with entitlement programs, but people get what they deserve and ask for. If you want a full out nanny state, vote Obama. If you want a partial nanny state with a slight chance of redemption, vote McCain.

Hello all, just wanted to say I made it safely to Kuwait. I'll be going to Iraq in a few days. It's unbelievably hot here; got up tp 120 today. But to say this has put things in perspective is a huge understatement. Take care and thanks for all the support.

As I've said for a while now, I'm going to Iraq. Well today is that day and I'm couting the hours before I leave. I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy CD when it drops. Hopefully I'll still be able to post from Iraq, but I won't know the situation until I'm there. For those interested, I've created a website where I and my friends across the services will record our ideas and thoughts of the day. Although only the forum exists now, my buddy is gonna design a mainpage to link the blogs. The address is www.fromthesandbox.com Take care and I'll try to be back in this mess soon.

Pawlenty is an interesting choice if he can bring in Minnesotta. Alot of people get caught up in national polls, but what matters is what is happening in a few states. If McCain can grab Minnesotta and keep everything he is already poised to take (Ohio and Virginia) then he wins the election. I read alot of websites and alot of people get bent out of shape over who leads on what issue or what the latest USA Today poll says who is more popular, but it comes down to electoral votes and the opinion of a few key states. If Obama can't win over Ohio and he loses Colorado and/or Nevada (states that should be his) then it's over for him.

I was reading today that Powell is on the short list for McCain's VP slot. Now whether or not Powell would accept is a seperate issue, but I assume that he wouldn't be on there if he hadn't talked with McCain. Personally a McCain-Powell ticket would be my fucking dream come true. Two real Republicans that would take the country in the right direction and have the experince and record to do so. If Powell does become McCain's VP (and I'm not saying he will) the Democrats can kiss goodbye another election (and it's looking like it's gonna happen that way regardless). Democrats need to learn that feel good speeches and pointing the finger at everyone else doesn't payout big in the end.

Biden has been a Senator since he was 29. He is now 65. He has no clue what the common man has gone through, and when you account the first 22-23 years of his life while he was in college, you can safely say that Biden only have about 5 years of "real world" experience.

I don't even consider Silkworms a legit song. Personally I think it's garbage and would be totally shocked if something that low of caliber made it on to CD - it's void of any artistic value (pussy full of maggots?). I'm sure in the creation of this album, alot of material has been presented, some amazing and some horrible. IMO, silkworms falls in the latter.

The funny part about your post is that UYI II is known as the Axl album. I'd venture to say that Slash and Duff contributed next to nothing lyrically on those songs with Izzy probably having minor contributions. Personally I think TWAT and The Blues are lyrically some of the strongest tracks Axl has written, but I certainaly agree that Locomotive, Breakdown and Estranged are right up there as well. UYI II has always been my favorite GNR album and I see CD as a direct evolution off that album.
