Metallica is out of ideas so they are throwing shit at the wall to see if it sticks. They should just face the fact they are past it. Lars is making excuses for himself. They didn't have experience, leisure and money when they made Master of Puppets and Black Album?
The only reason the CD material is interesting is because it is 20 years old, recorded when the players were still in their prime. I would be very lukewarm towards a brand new GN'R album because I know 60 year olds rarely set the world on fire. It would be a curiosity, nothing more.
In that sense Axl is keeping it real. He's got nothing to say and he's not pretending otherwise.

I want to redub all his shows with 86 vocals. That would be something.

We did get the two so at least initially it was more than just talk. Whatever that means for the future is up in the air, but the possibility persists. As long as Axl doesn't have to do anything it could happen. It would be almost tragicomic if it is the label that has put a wrench in plans, by complaining about the lack of sales. I can picture Axl not caring himself.

I think that, but I also think "what if Layne Staley was never a heroin addict?". What would he be doing then? Not "Sick Man", for sure.

Ecstasy of Gold intro is just bad for a Metallica show. They could do the Sesame Street theme song and it would sound less out of place. Totally different energies.

GN'R is the type of band where the former heroin dealer gets the fuck out of there because it is too stressful to be around Axl, Slash and Duff on a daily basis. A lot of selfishness and self indulgence. They may have quit the drugs but they haven't changed. And who can blame them? All the money is in the touring. As long as they are selling tickets there is no reason to do anything else.
We're lucky they're even talking about releasing material.

He also bit that Swedish hotel guy in the foot that summer. In the foot!

Did they sell out their Hard Skool stock of physical copies? I have no idea.

I think the fact we already got 2 songs is a major point to consider. In the CD era it was all talk with nothing ever to show for it. This time they said they were going to release some stuff and fairly promptly did so. With songs already completed and ready to go, why should he refuse to release them? He must have known Silk Worms reworked would never become a big hit with the fanbase, but he did it anyway, so I doubt it has anything to do with the reception. But probably they were dissatisfied with the financial returns on the first GN'R songs with "the old lineup" in 30 years hitting the market. There must be something more to gain from that right?
If something happens this summer it will be something more substantial than a pair of songs, and with a significant promotional push. I see all the remaining CD songs being packaged, and to make it a full dish maybe a couple of new ones as well.

Almost every movie is like that. They wanted Will Smith for the Matrix. It shows how it is often pure luck making a movie great.
Seven is among Fincher's best work, but I think the movie could have been even better with somebody other than Brad Pitt. He's just not a very good actor in my book. He has never impressed me in any movie. Paltrow too I guess could be done better, but maybe that's just because I thoroughly dislike her.
