Doesn't look so great. On the positive side, they all believe the kid's still alive. But the guy's still got him, and refuses to let him go. No one has details on exactly how deep this bunker of his goes, and the more I read about the guy, the more unhinged a picture is painted. Hope the poor kid gets out ok and they backfill the bunker over the guy.

Maybe but I wasn't coming at it from that angle. I think the baggage of the name /legacy/brand has complicated things more for a guy who was bound to complicate things just fine on his own.

Totally. My negativity comes almost entirely from him NOT dealing with it. When its all said and done though, he's the man who wrote the songs that spoke the most to me. And now I'm angry not just because he hasn't given me more, but also at the mismanagement at every step.
If Ax could read this he'd probably call me a c---. But fact is he's my number one favorite writer/vocalist/performer bar none.
Sometimes I think the internet has brought us too close to our heroes. Everything is too demystified. It was more magical to get interviews through MTV, magazines and police blotters
. Ah well.

...and that's my fear. This whole thing is tenuous enough without throwing an extra couple of ppl for Eddie to get pissed at or any warring lead singers. I'd prefer the "safety" of moving forward with what they started ~2 years ago.
HOWEVER, if they announce it I'm there. And if they explode I hope its either AT or AFTER my show :d

Hindsight being 20/20, I sometimes wonder if Axl would have chosen to abandon the name and go solo if given a do-over.

So let me just throw this out there for thought... something as potentially big as this sure would be a good chance to make even bigger with the right co-headliner. I know we've got nothing to go on, but how cool would that be?

What the fuck is in the water these days?

I'm kind of mixed on the whole thing. After ADKoT and the awesome tour they put on then had to put on hiatus, I was kind of hoping it was a return to there being one VH who'd put out another album or two.
Bringing Sammy back in raises a couple questions for me- are they falling back on their "Best of..." haunches? Also, talk about fucked up, but the LEAST contentious dude in the band, Michael, is now potentially the only one cut out of a reunion? And for what? Not liking being mistreated and daring to be friends with Sammy after he fell with the brothers? Seems super wack to me- I'd kind of hope Sammy wouldn't jump on a deal without Mike.
I wish them the best, and I'd go see it in a heartbeat, but it seems like a step back to me after the positive forward progress of the last 18 months.

The payoff of the commercial should be that the VW is clouded with pot smoke.

I don't know how well this will sit with you lot, but I came across this band on Sirius over the weekend and bought the album for $5 on a whim. The music reminds me at varying times of Brian Jonestown Massacre meets surf rock meets Donkey Kong.
