Sorry to bump this thread every other month. But there's some news on the project.
Seems like it's DONE! (more or less...)

anyway im more than happy to announce that ITS DONE! the live DVD is finally done
will take 2/3 weeks more, to send all the messages to the youtube accounts for the "thank you" list, talk to some admins from other forums that PMed me to help to spread the project, and build a blog or something like that
to post the project and upload to your favourite torrents
anyway, this couple of weeks ahead, are needed to have all the "thank you's" in order, and to try to make a big deal of this, so whoever wants to help the credit list at the end of the DVD will be open for the next 2 weeks
probably gonna upload some final trailer to announce the definitive date in a week or two, (didnt make it the last time, cause i was working at full, and dedicating time to that would be a loss of time to finish the whole DVD)
for those who are still interested on this live DVD, this is the set list (probably not the final order) !!

Maybe a new album to go along with the US-tour? Fingers crossed!
Anyone remember when in '08 we started to see clear signs of the album-release-machinery kicking into gear?

Some will say he doesn't care because of the late starts, lack of communication, etc. I could say that, as Axl himself said, if he didn't care, why would he give as much on stage as he does. Why would he want the best of himself from a creative standpoint.
I think the question isn't so much does Axl care about the fans as it is does Axl express his caring and concern for the fans in the ways the fans would like him to?
Ultimately, I don't care if Axl cares about me as a fan or not. He doesn't know me and will never know me, so nothing he does or doesn't do, can ever be a construed as a personal attack or grievance. The only thing that really matters to me is whether or not he cares about himself enough as an artist to demand and give the best of himself on stage and in the studio.
As a fan, that will net the best end result for me in terms of performances and released music.

Does he care about his fans? I voted YES.
GNR has performed for MILLIONS of people over the last decade.
Whenever he personally handed out roses to fans in the 90's, he cared!
Whenever he personally handed out tequila-shots to fans in 2010, he cared!
When he ran across the front row at Rock Am Ring slappin' hands in 2006, he cared!
When he got a hissyfit over the machinary that neglected his art in 2008, he cared!
Whenever he stopped to sign autographs and pose for pictures, he cared!
When he, in one of his rare tweets thanked the fans (for whatever), he cared!
When he, on the recent tour, performed more songs from the last record (than what is normal), he cared!
And when he spent hours and hours answering questions to the die-hards on three different fan-forums (that a magazine/newspaper would prolly pay top-dollar for), he cared!
But does he care to the level of what a fan who created a poll on a messageboard would want him to? Prolly not!
And that's fine by me!
I guess we're all at different stages of our pipedream of what it is GNR should and could do.
I'm personally at the point of whatever does or doesn't float my way, is cool!
Doesn't matter to me if the next songs from GNR are written recently by Axl/Ashba/Ron/Fortus or if it's songs written by Axl/Pitman at Axl's studio in '99.
Whatever the case, it will be new to ME!
And as a fan, I'll prolly enjoy the fuck out of 'em!!!

Thought they got on well, what did he say about Axl?
Don't have the book with me at the moment, but....
About when Piazza called in to apologize about the IRS leak, he said something like Axl acted cool with it but he (Trunk) believes Axl still holds a grudge.
And it didn't seem like he concidered new era GNR a real band.
In the section where he listed GNR members, there were no members post '93 (kinda wierd since he listed several CD-tracks as his favourites).
I'm not saying anything is "wrong" or objectively incorrect about any of it, just that some of it could possibly rub Axl the wrong way.
With that said, so far the book is great!

I'm also really looking forward to Duff's book.
Sure, people might not "get their ass handed to them", but Duff seems like a tell-it like-it-really-was kinda guy. That in itself might be cause for a juicy n' interesting read!
Don't think you need to have scores to settle in order to raise eyebrows in writing about GNR!
Off topic:
Don't know how many of you have read Eddie Trunk's book. I just got it. There's a guy who's not afraid to speak his mind. I think some of the stuff he wrote might cause Axl to avoid him from now on...
His memories of the Axl interview and the following night on the town was a fun read!

By the way, reading Keith Richard's book and its excellent too. You can hear him talking to you in his raspy old english accent when you read it!
Or if you get the audio version from audible.com, like I did, you get Johnny Depp reading it. Next best thing to the man himself!
