Yeah, I did too.
Although if I understand right, Family Man was mostly more mellow sentimental stuff because The Other Life is going to be mostly (for lack of a better word)rowdier tracks. Id rather have two albums more mixed up than than two trying to convey the same thing through the whole album. That said, if the original plan was for it to be a double album, that's probably why it's that way.
If I like this whole album anywhere near as much as I like this track I'm gonna dig the hell out of it. But, if Scott H. Biram popped up on a Justin Beiber song I'd probably love that too, the man can do no wrong in my mind.

I know there's at least one, if not more, Shooter threads, but I can't find them at the moment.
He has a new album coming out in February and released a song from it a couple days ago.
Scott H. Biram is on it too, so that's a win/win for me.

He also put this link up. I'm not exactly sure what it's all about.

I didn't think Sonic Boom was very good, some people really liked it though. It does come with a disc of re-recorded old songs and a short dvd, so there's at least a lot of bang for the buck.
Their first (self titled) album actually has a lot of what I consider their classics on it and was one of the ones I saw for $5.

I don't know what specifically to tell you to pick up, but I will tell you shop around a bit before using Itunes. I don't know what country you're in, but I was in a Best Buy doing some Christmas shopping last week and browsing through the cds while I was there. I saw a bunch of the older Kiss albums are only $5, so if it means enough to you, you can get the physical copy and save a few bucks.

Oh I completely agree.
But come on dude, if you're heading out the door, and you're gonna be on the road for an hour and you want some Cash, are you really gonna grab albums or are you gonna grab a hits set?
We all make our own mix tapes, we get that, but at the same time sometimes the band's themselves do it so friggin' good (CCR) that you just grab the hits set, rather than the rest.
Pearl Jam for example...
If I want an album experience -- I almost always grab Ten.
But if I want a Pearl Jam experience -- I grab Rearviewmirror. I don't cherry pick like Vitalogy one day and No Code the next.
You know what, that's probably where my disconnect comes from on this. The only reason I initially got an ipod was because it gave me the ability to travel with my entire music collection. So if I'm in the mood for something, but not a specific album I'll just put that artists discography (what I have of it anyway) on shuffle.

I'd say Motley Crue even got it right the first time with Decade Of Decadence without even taking it to double disc. That had enough hits for the people that wanted the hits, and enough rare/unreleased stuff for the people who wanted more after the success of Feelgood.
I was with you on most of that until you got to the end with Johnny Cash. I get what you're saying for most of his career, but all of those American Recordings albums can stand on their own start to finish. Completely worth having the full albums.

All that I don't like about them is tossed aside if they have cool bonus content with them. I got the Faith No More one because it came with a disc of bonus tracks plus a couple b-sides I hadn't gottten my hands on before. The dvd that comes with the Stone Temple Pilots greatest hits is more comprehensive than most dvds band release just to stand on their own.
That said, plenty of the illegal downloading I've done in my time was to get a few tracks that I couldn't get without buying an entire album of songs I already had or didn't want.
edit:
Which is the exact reason I don't own GNR's greatest hits, though I do love their version of "Sympathy for the Devil".
Haha. Sympathy For The Devil is one of those songs that I aquired outside the law, but to be fair, I did pay for the cassette single back in the day.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Only thing I can think of is that it's because it's out so far before the album is officially released. The full album isn't out until March.

To me if you're a die hard of a band, and there isn't much or any new material on it, you shouldn't bother.
Knowing how much you like the new Soundgarden album I'm going to guess that even if Telephantasm is great all it's going to do is whet your appetite more and you'll want to pick up the actual albums to get more tracks, then you'll just end up with multiple copies of the same songs.
Most of the greatest hits albums I have are from bands I don't plan on ever picking up many (or any) more albums from. I'm glad they exist because of that, but to me they're not for a band you love, they're for bands you kind of like, or want to check out.

No, Dave labeled everything by the full artists. So it's labeled as "Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear.
However, there's a catch...
When the song is uploaded and the tagged info plays during the song...
The composer is listed as -- N
Nirvana ?
So they definitely toyed with it. I assume Dave, Krist & Pat were the ones that put it together after Paul recorded his part, and that's pretty much a Nirvana collab in post production.
I bought it as soon as I saw you put up it was available, so first off, Thanks for the heads up.
Mine doesn't just say "N" under composer though, it says "N/A"
