#41 Re: Guns N' Roses » AXL SUED FOR RAPE » 129 weeks ago
As far as i'm aware it's a civil case not a legal one. However Blackstar understands this legal stuff better than me. I think one thing that this could lead to is some expose style netflix thing or some sort of documentary though, you got a situation where a bands manager & now the lead singer are being accused of stuff, that probably leads to media looking back at other things people have largely forgotten. Adler spending time inside for battery, Slash's 1999 arrest that sort of thing.
Yes, it's a civil case (which means that she asks for financial compensation either from the court of through an out of court settlement).
She normally wouldn't have been able to sue because the statute of limitations (the time limit within which the law allows to file a civil suit - it's usually 5-10 years after the alleged incident took place). But the state of New York passed laws with which the statute of limitation has been temporarily abolished for a year so that victims of sexual assault that happened way back in the past could have the opportunity to file civil suits. The laws were supposedly passed with the victims of Prince Andrew and the Catholic Church in mind, however many celebrities have been also sued (including Bob Dylan for something that supposedly happened in 1965 - that case was eventually withdrawn and dismissed).
This same story didn't do much when it first made the rounds in the media in 2016 after Sheila Kennedy gave an interview to the Daily Mail promoting her book:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl … sorry.html
It didn't do much when it was featured in the "Look Away" documentary a couple of years ago either (the Steven Tyler case that was also featured in it got way more public attention). Maybe it's because stories like that about Axl wouldn't catch anyone by surprise.
Now it's a lawsuit and it naturally will get more publicity than an article in the press. But I think what keeps it from being disastrous and leading to exposes etc. is that it's about something that happened almost 35 years ago and not something more recent (like in the case of Marilyn Manson) - and the public perception of Axl for that period has been negative anyway.

I don't say this because I work for him, or because I'm his friend. My friends, for example, whenever they listen to any of the songs, they always say it’s very good. "Catcher in the Rye," "That's Called the Blues," "Chinese Democracy," they are all very beautiful.

I've also seen speculation that the leaks of later demos with Bumblefoot (Silkworms, OMG, Going Down) were sourced from Fernando's friends who he shared the files with, but I don't know about any evidence for that either.
This went went wayyyyy back to the first leaks in that hoarders had them for a while. Some of the big hoarders were from Brazil and when negotiations were being made it was said Fernando was the source. The *rumor* was that he was selling them, which I don’t believe
Were the hoarders Brazilian or Portuguese? Or maybe there was confusion about their nationality because of the common language?

Vanessa seems to have taken Beta's place as Axl's personal manager/assistant in the last few years. Beta is still around as "support", not as official manager.

Interesting looking at that lawsuits, Kat appears to be represented by Zach Rosenblatt. I assume with a surname like that he is a relative of Eddie Rosenblatt - Former President/COO and co-founder of Geffen Records.
I think it's a fairly common surname.

It's fascinating. The first things that jump out at me there.
2 - The band is comprised of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagen. Is that official? So Richard, Frank and Melissa aren't actually in the band, they're just hired as touring muscians on an ad-hoc basis?
Axl, Slash and Duff are the partners/shareholders in the band (it has been affirmed in other litigation documents involving GN'R). The other members are in the band, but they're employees.

One of the Reddit mods is allegedly a member of TB or affiliated with them. I'm not surprised they would shut down convo on this or ban people for mentioning it. Did they ban Rick? I know he asked Fernando on there about it, fair play to him for that
He is someone from the PR company that manages GN'R's social media.

Does anyone have the ability to post a short summary? Is that GNR saying 'no'and moving to dismiss the claims against them?
It's the original lawsuit against Kat by GN'R (the touring entities). GN'R sued her first, because she registered her photos with the US Copyright Office as owned by her. GN'R claims that according to the contracts she signed, she has no ownership rights over the photos. It also says that Kat tried to sue them back in March (and indeed there is a filing in the legal databases), but the lawsuit was dismissed then because of some technicality (it wasn't filed properly).
So now Kat counter-sued saying that there was a period when she wasn't under contract so she owns the pictures she took during that time and that Fernando harassed her sexually on top of that.

The fan who heard the whole thing and recorded the two snippets also said that there were some keyboard-heavy parts.

Those two certainly don’t. Are they from the same soundcheck as the clip Clear posted?
The shorter clip from Meegan's Instagram is from a later date, but the fan who recorded the two longer ones was confident that it was from the same song he heard.
