#41 The Garden » Self-defence/martial arts for women - tips or links? » 819 weeks ago

Got a lady friend I just met who's 5'9, pretty slim, not a gym bunny, looking into learning self-defence stuff. Can't go into too much detail but her work (a new job) is going to bring her into contact with some messed up types, so she's looking into learning self-defence that's going to work for her in the real world if she needs it.
We're both in London UK where you're allowed to use force to repel an attacker (though we're not as enlightened on this one issue as the US - but that's OT!)
Since I figure any forum has a range of people with differing experiences, wondered if anyone has an opinion on good styles she can learn, she's looking into studying krav maga and stuff like that, as opposed to any one formal school of MA.
I'm useless because because no-one but a hardcore molester of grizzly bears is gonna try to rape ME...
But, I'll score brownie points if I can point her in the right direction!
Help me out here dudes!

I'm going to wait and see - at first I was dismayed anyone was replacing Slash, time and trials will tell the tale!
Thx for the vids!

Just occurred to me that by now the only way for this punter to be a in a band was to train as a drummer and then y'know they'd fire me the minute a deal got signed...
Just wondering, if a band broke now aged say 42 max (not QUITE my age ) would you buy it?
Would they get signed?
My questions is based off the fact Aerosmith, and... oh just so many others are - not young!
Your thoughts?
(Should add I played a bit of bass once, but now have NO further territorial ambitions in the music industry. )

I do, but only if they're genuinely funny and not just hateful, I think it's natural to blow off steam and laugh at the absurdity of some of the really horrible stuff that exists in this world, after all humour never came about from people being mutually kind, respectful and supportive...
Well, that's my feeling, and have voted accordingly.
Curious where you folks stand on this - comments/opinions welcome, and if you don't like 'em, be really appreciative to hear your PoV because I'll never stop learning?!

Billy's cool, loved his autobiography, good to see someone rise to success and a great marriage despite a shitty childhood.
#47 Re: The Garden » Ozzy regrets Osbournes TV series » 819 weeks ago
Oh yeah I remember that, didn't see them on there but I always wondered what kinda bozos would want to do it. Though it was pre-Big brother and I suppose people didn't understand how lame reality shows can be.
I liked Johnny Vaughn and I like him now on Capital breakfast show, he's a tit sometimes like all Dj's but he makes me laugh.
(And Denise van O, well there were worse sights to see first thing in the morning!)
Also wasn't there a studio-based news show that was replaced by the Big Breakfast back in the late 80's/early 90's that used to be quite good for Gnr news, I seem to remember concert's being mentioned, and footage from Axl's st Louis-related arrest on there, which context aside was pretty cool coverage of the news I wanted pre-internet!

Ozzy regrets Osbournes TV series
Ozzy Osbourne says his family's MTV reality show was an "experiment that went wildly out of control".
The Osbournes, which ran from 2002 to 2005, showed the often chaotic domestic life of the star, his wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly.
It introduced the Black Sabbath singer to a new crop of fans, who were hooked by his bumbling ineptitude at everyday tasks like working a TV remote.
But the star told BBC Radio 4's Front Row the attention was "really creepy".
"It was as if I went to bed in one world and woke up in a completely different world," the 60-year-old said.
"We went down to this market in Beverley Hills where you can just walk around artwork and statues and dolls and all this stuff and I got this really creepy feeling.
"I look around. People aren't looking, but I could feel eyes on me.
"I thought I was getting paranoid or something."
The star, who is promoting his autobiography I Am Ozzy, said he was not keen to repeat the experience - even though his wife has forged a career as a TV personality on shows like the X Factor and America's Got Talent.
"I don't really want to do TV. I don't like doing TV much. Sharon loves it."

^^ Is true. Though to be fair it must be hard to love someone who's embroiled ina feud like this and NOT get into the mix a little, I guess it's an understandable temptation.
I'd like to see Slash paired with a really good female vocalist, is there any Perla H vocal stuff online, or is this a new thing she's doing?

Hehe yeah maybe she meant they're all playing Gunner hide n'seek, and she's just finished counting to 100!
Stranger things have happened...
