#41 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N Roses OFFICIALLY inducted into Rock n Roll Hall of Fame » 708 weeks ago
-D- wrote:faldor wrote:That's not really what he's saying. He's just pointing out how ridiculous it is for the Hall to keep out MANY legendary rock bands. He agrees GNR should get in, just questions why others aren't in. It does make you wonder how they pick who gets in. I mean, what exactly is the criteria? In sports you can compare stats and it makes it easier to debate who should or shouldn't get in. GNR would probably have no chance at getting in if they were an athlete, because of their short-lived 6 year career. The music world is different obviously, but there's not an exact science to choosing inductees.
My dream scenario, being a fan of anything and everything Guns N' Roses. Let me preface this by saying, I have no idea how many songs the inductees usually play, but this is MY DREAM, so deal with it.
1) The current lineup kicks it off with "Chinese Democracy"
2) The 2002 lineup with Brain, Robin and Bucket (Paul if he's up for it) enter, play another CD song, possibly "Madagascar".
3) The UYI lineup with Matt, Gilby, Duff, and Slash play, well take your pick. I'll go with "November Rain".
4) The AFD lineup gets up to close it out with Steven and Izzy. Play WTTJ and PC to end it.I know, people will say the 2002 and current lineup have no right even looking at the Hall, but this is MY DREAM! So BACK OFF!
That is what he is saying
He basically thinks GNR aren't first ballot worthy then points to a bunch of other bands that can't hold GNR's dick
GNR are a first ballot
Fuck those other bands, GNR getting in doesn't prevent one of them from getting in and even if it does, who gives a shit??? GNR are better than those bands.
Besides, there are much less deserving artists than GN'R already IN the Hall of Fame. The KISS, Heart, Rush, Maiden, and Purple fanboys should go bark up those trees before trying to shit on GN'R. Guns deserves to be in, and yes it should be on the first ballot.
Yeah well Kiss should already be in

I think people are making a big deal out of nothing, it's all bullshit anyway.

Tree Riddle of the Flint, Michigan radio station Banana 101.5 Rocks recently conducted an interview with GUNS N' ROSES guitarist DJ Ashba. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Banana 101.5 Rocks: GUNS N' ROSES is nominated for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this year and there is a lot of talk about an original lineup reunion. Usually Axl [Rose] doesn't address that topic out of respect for you guys because he is happy with the band he has now — but if a reunion did happen, would you be offended?
Ashba: No, not at all. I get asked that a lot and my honest opinion is that I don't ever foresee that happening, to be honest, just from what I know. But I would be the first person in line to buy a ticket, that's for sure. So I have no problem with it whatsoever.
Banana 101.5 Rocks: There was a long period of downtime between "Use Your Illusion" and "Chinese Democracy" where Axl did a lot of recording and working with a ton of other musicians. Have you heard a lot of stuff from the lost period of GUNS N' ROSES or does Axl keep it under lock and key?
Ashba: After every show we usually end up throwing a party here or there and it always ends up being moved to somebody's room — usually Axl's room. He'll sit down and play me stuff then, and it's good, man. He has a lot of really solid, solid songs that nobody has ever heard. I produce and write for a lot of artists and I can't wait for people to hear some of the stuff he has up his sleeve.
Banana 101.5 Rocks: Speaking of new material, when do you think the band will record or at least start getting something together? Is that a conversation the band has or is that a topic that never really comes up?
Ashba: No, it definitely does — that's our main focus. I'm obviously a writer — I write and demo around the clock. So I have quite a few songs already written and Axl has a bunch of stuff obviously recorded, so it's just kind of getting together as a band and putting together what we feel would be the ultimate GUNS N' ROSES record for the next release.
Banana 101.5 Rocks: Why do you think people are making such a big deal about late set times, because GN'R has been doing that for years now…
Ashba: They've done that since day one [laughs].
Banana 101.5 Rocks: I saw them in 2006, we came in at 6:30 p.m. and I went right down, front row and stood there until 2:30 in the morning and I didn't have a complaint because it was a great show. But a lot of people are bitching about the set times. What do you think is behind that?
Ashba: This is no disrespect to anybody — I think in '91 it wasn't as big of a deal. Now everybody is 10, 15, 20 years older now, too. Of course, we have a lot of newer fans because they grew their kids up on them and it's really cool to see how many young people are in the crowd. But I think it's that — people work and people have jobs but it's been like that since day one. So it is kind of what it is, and I don't know — I'm the new guy [laughs].
Banana 101.5 Rocks: You're going to see GN'R, you can take a night off or go to work hungover or whatever you gotta do the next day.
Ashba: Yeah, it's like a once-a-year-type thing, if that. It's kinda been like that since day one, so I just tell people, "Hey, if you come out, you're gonna get two and a half to three and a half hours of high-energy rock and roll that's gonna blow people's minds." I mean, the shows are just incredible, so if we go on when we go on… when we do go on. Just buckle up. It's just a great fun night of rock and roll.
Banana 101.5 Rocks: There's not many other bands you can go see and get three hours of rock and know everything.
Ashba: And that's one thing, just me as a fan /outsider, I give a lot of props to Axl. 'Cause he takes a lot of heat for going on an hour late here or there or whatever, but what people don't really point out is the guy goes on and sings his balls off for three hours solid… and not one GUNS song is easy to sing. So I just think the world of the guy, I think he's the real deal.

Eleventh heaven: Cardinals are Series champs
St. Louis adds to NL-best title total with Game 7 win vs. Texas
By Matthew Leach / MLB.com | 10/28/2011 11:25 PM ET
ST. LOUIS -- It was so improbable, so unthinkable, that it had to happen. Despite massive deficits in August and September, despite playing for their lives in the first round of the playoffs, despite twice being one strike away from elimination the night before, the St. Louis Cardinals are the World Series champions for 2011 after winning Game 7, 6-2, over the Texas Rangers on Friday.
The Cardinals won the first World Series Game 7 in nine years and brought home the 11th World Series championship in franchise history. They triumphed behind six-plus impressive innings from ace Chris Carpenter, more big hits by David Freese and Allen Craig, and a return to form by a bullpen that had sprung some leaks lately.
A journey that started in the spring with an unsuccessful contract negotiation and an ace's blown elbow ended with an enormous Friday night party in downtown St. Louis. The Cardinals won their second World Series title in five years in front of a stadium-record announced crowd of 47,399 and plenty more stationed outside the park -- in Ballpark Village, in hotel rooms across the street, and even atop a nearby parking garage.
Oddly, they won it with a minimum of hold-your-breath moments, but maybe those were just all used up one night earlier. Or maybe the baseball gods just decided that for once, this team and its fans deserved not to have to sit through heart-attack theater. After all, there was enough of that over the previous weeks and months.
The Cardinals lost their top starting pitcher, Adam Wainwright, before the first Spring Training game was played. They dealt without key players like Matt Holliday, Albert Pujols and Freese for significant stretches of the season. They were 10 1/2 games out of the Wild Card in late August.
It was never easy, never predictable. And yet it ended in a title. Sure, it wasn't really comfortable until Yadier Molina's RBI single provided a little breathing room in the seventh. But for one night, the Cardinals and their fans got to enjoy the moment.
That was thanks in large part to Carpenter, who did hero's work. Pitching on three days' rest for the second time in his career -- the first, in the National League Division Series against the Phillies, didn't go so well -- he pitched six-plus excellent innings for his second win of the series.
Carpenter fell behind early on a walk and a pair of doubles, and that was the last time anything went the Rangers' way. St. Louis responded immediately, behind Freese -- of course. Matt Harrison walked a pair of batters with two outs in the bottom of the first, and Freese doubled to center to tie the score.
Two innings later, Craig hit a solo homer that put St. Louis ahead for good with yet another go-ahead hit. By then, Carpenter was settling in. He made it through the third and fourth without a hit, worked around a single in the fifth and finished the sixth thanks to a home-run-stealing catch from Craig in left field.
The Cards bolstered their lead with significant help from the Texas pitching staff. Three walks and two hit batsmen added up to a two-run fifth that was more than enough, and then Molina provided the insurance in the seventh.
Carpenter hit for himself in the seventh before facing one batter in that inning and being lifted. From there, the Cardinals' bullpen looked like the stifling unit it was through the first two rounds of the postseason. Arthur Rhodes and Octavio Dotel tag-teamed the seventh, Lance Lynn pitched a nifty eighth, and Jason Motte closed it out, although the four-run lead meant no save for the Cards' closer.
The Cardinals improved to 8-3 in seven-game World Series, and closed out their second title at the current Busch Stadium. It's the third world championship for manager Tony La Russa.
And perhaps the most unbelievable.

Everything is deleted now. What was the deal? Dexter started a new thread at mygnr saying there's a new album, everyone called it fake and it got deleted?
yeah, that's pretty much what happened.

Aren't these the same guys who drunkenly said in an interview that they'd be playing with Sebastian Bach and GNR, or Axl would be on their album or something to that effect?
I think so, I'm not sure tho

Asking Alexandria and ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler will join forces to perform songs from Guns’ classic ‘Appetite for Destruction’ album on Halloween at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. The set will be filmed for an upcoming DVD.
While Asking Alexandria are best known for their mix of blazing metalcore and searing melodies, the band have a soft spot for ‘80s metal, as they revealed on their 2010 EP ‘Life Gone Wild,’ which featured covers of the Skid Row song ’18 and Life’ and ‘Youth Gone Wild.’ Ex-Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach joined the band onstage at the 2011 Revolver Golden Gods Awards on April 20 in Los Angeles and at this years Rock on the Range Festival in Columbus, Ohio, on May 21.
Adler is working on a new band with Adler’s Appetite guitarist Michael Thomas and Lonnie Johnson and the first single is expected to feature Asking Alexandria vocalist Danny Worsnop. Adler’s group are tracking at NRG Recording in North Hollywood, California. After the first day of recording, Adler tweeted, “What an amazing day. We finished our first song today. I’m soooo thrilled we [are] headed in the right direction.”
Modern metal acts Winds of Plague, We Came as Romans, D.R.U.G.S. and Stick to Your Guns will also play the Halloween show with Adler’s Appetite and Asking Alexandria. Professional wrestler the Ultimate Warrior will join Winds of Plague onstage to perform his spoken word part from the band’s song “The Warrior Code,” marking the first time the Ultimate Warrior will take the stage in full costume with a rock band.
