You summed it up well Monkey. I'm pretty sure these guys have probably kept Axl from pulling that trigger on the shotgun in his mouth at some point. They have no doubt been through a lot with him emotionally and helped him through a heap of shit. For that I tip my hat.
But from my outside perspective it seems that they are more than an overly protective parent now. Stuff seems to be manipulated or miscommunicated not just to protect him anymore, but I would speculate it's done for other potentially more selfish reasons sometimes.

Since this thread is about filming costs etc, I noticed this posted at HTGTH yesterday but was subsequently deleted. Some dude posted a thread saying a producer is suing Axl for $70,000. The poster write:
Axl is already saying he's not going to appear at trial since he's scheduled to tour India at that time. This case won't go to trial. Not a jury trial at least for only $70,000 top end damages.
Just thought I would share.
He then got flamed for not being willing to provide a source etc etc then Beta jumped on and posted this:
Axl is not saying anything. Stop assuming shit. Our dates in India has been arranged months before this court date. This person wished he was a producer. He is owed nothing. He wrote some shitty videos for 09 tour and it was not approved by anyone in this camp. Another one that wants his name in the news. He already received around $70k to start the job, got declined and now he wants the remaining $70.

It just looks like a bit of light hearted fun to me.
That said that family is still annoying. My preference would be that they let the band be the band and keep their fucken tweets and ugly mugs to themelves. Just go about their business discretely.
I feel a similar way with Perla, I don't care you what she has to say. Slash is the star not her, she can go take a long walk off a short pier.

I've always been of the opinion he is not as flushed with money as people think. Sure he's not exactly one step from living on the street but Im guessing he's not in the position where financial considerations aren't a big factor in his decision making.
Interesting posts from Marc Canter recently on mygnr hinting at this also:
The life style that they lead takes a lot on money to keep up
Those lists are Bullshit. Steven lives month to month. It cost a lot every month to pay the mortgage for their house. They have many people working for them that they have to pay. Hotels can cost 3 to 5 thousand a day. You have no idea what it could cost them each month to function the way they do. What ever you think it is times it by 5 and you might to almost there.
Wasn't there also stuff on the memory stick about band members not getting paid. Think also about the Robert John incident and trying to get his money that was apparently owed. Was it an oversight or was it whoever was managing the purse strings trying to juggle their cashflow by delaying payment.

Has he said he regrets leaving? I didn't notice anything in there saying he regretted it.

I don't necessarily see him as dumb. Seems like the guy made a fortune as it is and finally had enough of the shit from Hetfield and Lars so he left.
Was Izzy a dumbass for leaving Guns and going back to basically playing small clubs?

I'm surprised a kid like that knows anything about Guns let alone songs from Chinese Democracy. Good parenting.
And CITR too, that really surprised me.

I think it's pretty cool of them, besides if the main man ain't gonna show up to rehursals....
That said the first couple of minutes I watched she, just like Axl, sounded too low in the mix. Do they have Jarmo running the sound board these days? Maybe the experts in "management" think running a message board and a sound board are similar jobs.

I look at it this way, am I obligated to be a nice person, to be friendly to people, to go out of my way and do things purely for someone else's benefit for no gain to myself. Do I have to go attend my kids sports event and support them when I would rather be home in bed. Do I have to attend that bloody family function etc etc.
No of course not, but if it's something that others feel is a big deal then I fully expect they will think I'm a dick for not going and cop some shit for putting my own selfish needs above the collective of others.
Absolutely im not obligated to do anything for anyone I'm entitled to be a miserable cunt all my life if i want. But if everyone had that narcissistic attitude and never put someone else ahead of themselves or never did something purely for the benefit of others with no gain for themselves, the world would be a pretty bleak place.
I respect people that put other people ahead of themselves and lose respect for people who are selfish. In this case I lost a little respect for Izzy because of his actions.

I was out of the loop when the HOF happened but I'm guessing the backlash began when he didn't show, so couldn't his appearance with GNR have been a poorly judged attempt at making the fanbase happy? He maybe knew the fans would be unhappy with his no-show at the HOF so makes the effort to get out there and play a gig or two with GNR, one of which was due to be streamed online?
That's a really interesting perspective, I never thought of it that way.
