#491 Re: The Garden » Did you receive a flu shot in 2019? » 320 weeks ago

I used to never get a flu shot, but when I married a diabetic it became part of my annual routine.  I used to get either a cold or the flu every year, now (here comes the jinx) it's very rare that I get one.  Small sample size...

Are u referring to me for not going to Miami?  I'd have to be insane to go right now.

No...just the overall theme that this is going to go on for months if not years...I don't see that happening.  It's not that it can't happen, but there's nothing to indicate it will...not at the same level that it is now. I was supposed to go to Reno today and obviously cancelled that.  I have a cruise in Sept planned and have almost zero concerns about that.

It's okay to pay attention and be aware of what's going on; I'm not sure it's healthy to believe this is going to change life as we know it forever.

Dang, you guys are the most pessimistic people I've met.  The world isn't ending.  Half of the population isn't going to be wiped out.  We'll almost all be fine.  DO everything you can to take care of yourself and there's a good chance you'll emerge from this fine...unless people keep the panic going forever (which is what you seem to be trying to do).

I've never thought of myself as an optimist, so I have to thank you...feels much better on this side of the fence.  As a bonus, suddenly there are a lot more people in favor of closed borders, which is interesting.

In 3 weeks, nearly every other state will be saying the same thing.  Heck Mississipi & Missouri's Govs are deniers, keeping their states open. Shit'll hit the fan real quick.

Yes, they would say the same thing in 3 weeks, but NY would still be using it all and would not be giving it up even if they weren't using it just in case they needed it back...thus he would fall flat on his face anywhere but NY.  You don't get everything just because you're first and everyone else be damned.

"Give us everything now...we'll share later, we promise!!!" - Cuomo

I don't think this pandemic 'helps' Joe Biden in the least, but it's a good ad. I'd prefer he step down and if this resolves Cuomo take the nod.

That aside, this ad needs to be seen. We were not prepared for this & we should have been. We've known about this since New Years Day.

Cuomo said give NY everything you have for this and we'll share it when we're done.  Zero chance that is positively received anywhere outside of NY.  Zero.

Yahoo sent me a push notification the Bernie was going to somehow try to block the stimulus...that ought to be interesting.

#497 Re: The Garden » US Politics Thread » 320 weeks ago

I see some are hailing Cuomo as some heroic figure.  Apparently they didn't watch the same news conference from him that I did yesterday.  He was begging for the gov't to give him everything they have because he needs it and whenever he decides they don't need it anymore, they will share it.  Good idea bro...nobody will have a need after you decide you don't need it anymore...NYC will be safe and the rest of the country will have suffered so you could be the hero.  I swear people don't even try to think, they just say whatever they think is going to make them look good.

The people have all the bargaining chips right now and it’s time to use them.

You can’t tell someone they’re vital employees and pay them minimum wage and risk their health.

The people?  Who the fuck are these magical people?  Do you have any idea how many people DON'T want $15/hr because they actually understand there will still be poor people, there will just be more of them and they'll be making $15/hr instead of $7.50?  There is absolutely nothing that can be done about it...there are always going to be poor people.  The democrats just want to pass laws that make more of them so they have a bigger voting block.  Some people are finally starting to see that and moves like this are just making it clearer.  They are going to cost themselves any shot at the middle-class.

What's unemployment? $400 buck per week about? Maybe $500?

Why is business getting a $1 trillion plus bail out and unemployed people are getting crumbs?

Seriously...tell me why.

For starters, you have no idea what people are getting or how they are getting it, so let's stop pretending you have any merit to your outrage.

Think just for one second mitch...that's all this should take.  If the big businesses fold, what do you think is happening to the "regular person" you pretend to care so much about?  Discussion over.

The list ID posted a couple pages before is asinine.  That whole list is a pile of crap on s stimulus bill meant to handle a crisis situation.  If you're not willing to admit that, there's no reason for anyone to engage you on this subject because you're clueless.

I do know what people are getting in Illinois because I looked it up. It's $471 per week. I am informing myself so I can help my employees decide if they want to file. So...I do know how much people get in unemployment benefits right now.

Stop acting like I'm an uninformed idiot.

I honestly didn't see that list on any of the articles I looked at...it was mostly about student loans and raising the amount each person gets substantially.

I disagree with you about big business....big business will take that money and do whatever the hell they please with it. And that doesn't necessarily mean Once they have it, they're not obligated to help anyone but themselves. This hope and pray things trickle down is bullshit. I have no faith in that plan.

You are an uninformed idiot. The law hasn't passed bro...you have no fucking idea.

Ok you can argue that if you want...but that’s not a certainty.

I’m not in favor of another bail out for rich people and big business...we all pay into the federal treasury...most of us get ignored in times like these.

There were provisions in the 2008 bail out to...but bad faith actors will always find the loop holes and i have no faith in big business to do the right thing for everybody.

It is a certainty mitch.  Math is math.  If they are going to lose their jobs at their current salary, they're most definitely losing it at $15/hr.

You're not in favor of anything except exactly what you want.  You have no concept of compromise; you have no concept of acting swiftly even if it's not the ideal situation because there's enough good to help people.  The Republicans did that with the house bill.  The Democrats again screw their own by refusing to accept anything other than exactly what they want.  It's no wonder you think they are so good...you think the same idiotic way that they do.

"It's my way or the highway" - Democratic battle cry!!!
