Because it's what the majority of people want. You may not want it, Axl may not want it, but that's ALL the general public wants.

I don't have a problem with Jeter, but ARod was by far the better SS, so if Jeter was such a class act, he should have moved for the good of the team. I don't blame him for not moving, but he can't be sainted either. He's as guilty as anyone else of having an ego, he just hides his better.

I hope Jeter's name doesn't get dragged in the mud. The dude is a class act.
If Jeter was a class act, he'd have moved to 3B instead of ARod. Jeter has every bit the ego of the other guys, but for some reason he gets a pass.

Frank Thomas and Albert Belle were off to awesome starts in the strike year. Thomas' numbers were absolutely mindblowing that season:
Year G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG *OPS+ TB IBB
1994 113 399 106 141 34 1 38 101 109 61 .353 .487 .729 211 291 12
34 2B AND 38 HRs playing in a neutral park. .487 OBP and .729 SLG were pretty unheard of pre strike in modern era baseball. Despite only playing 113 games, he kept his consecutive seasons of 100 runs, 100 RBI, 100 BB alive (he did it 8 straight seasons, I think Gehrig was the only other player to do it) and only struck out more than 100 times once in that span.
His career rankings:
BA: 19
OBP: 21
SLG: 24
OPS: 15
HR: 18
RBI: 21
BB: 9
Int BB: 28
AB/HR: 23
I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that at the very least, he wasn't on anything until he suffered his injuries, and I'd be amazed to hear he was on anything afterwards. He was always big, but he got fat, not built. I think he was one of the top 10 hitters all time.

I like Izzy's solo stuff. I saw him in 1992 and it was a great show. I have absolutely nothing against Izzy.

And to be fair any contribution between Izzy and Slash would be better than any contribution between Axl and Slash. Izzy was able to bring the best out of them while bringing out the best in him. Seriously, had VR been able to get Izzy. Contraband and Libertad would've been 100 times better.
I agree with this 100%. Izzy and Slash complimented each other as a lead/rhythm combo as well as anybody (imo). That is one of the reasons I love old GnR is the play between the 2 guitars. That's missing from VR. They try, but it just doesn't work as well.

So Slash didn't put solos on any of those songs? If you're not counting that, then you have to throw out Axl singing the chorus on 14 years. TABY, AG are considered by many the filler (if there was filler) on AFD and RNDTH is filler on UYI I. DC is regarded as one of the weaker singles and YCBM is more known for the video than the song itself.
Anyway, I'll take Coma and Estranged over any of those songs. I'm not trying to diminish what Izzy did - I think he was great and the key to getting Axl's ideas to work with a Stones type feel to it. But as far as him and Axl (or Axl alone) creating masterpieces without input from Slash (or others in some cases), I just don't see it.

You should all do like me. I don't care why. The main thing for me is that Axl is willing to work with Izzy. And that will give way better music than any collaboration between Axl and Slash and that is a fact.
Is it a fact? What has Axl done with Izzy that didn't have any contribution from Slash? I love Izzy as much as anybody and see him as the key to the success of GnR's original music, but let's be realistic at least. Slash by default as the lead guitarist impacted every song he was on. Izzy, while an important part of the songwriting for most of AFD and some of UYI, had little to do with the writing side of Axl's songs.
Axl + Slash = Coma, Estranged, NR
Axl + Izzy - Slash = ???

That would certainly attract interest.
