#5581 Re: The Garden » Obama Blasts McCain on the Economy » 921 weeks ago
1999-The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, authored by McCain's principle economic advisor, Phil Gramm is the law that deregulated banking and allowed the explosion of financial derivatives that led to the current credit crisis. John McCain voted for the bill.
2004-The SEC voted to require Hedge Funds to simply register with the agency. Gramm and McCain both argued that since hedge fund investors were high net worth individuals, there was no need for such regulation. The SEC order was overturned on a technicality.

Wow sorry to hear about that, esp at that age. Hopefully (and I use that term loosely) it's an anxiety attack. My Grandfather had a stroke when I was about 10 & that disease does people no favors. He was paralyzed on his whole left side & brain. He couldn't talk & was wheelchair bound for the last 10 years of his life. I fear that. Heart attacks are no good either, esp at that age. But I worked with a guy years ago who did have one at about 27. He pulled thru, still would suck to have one so young.

^ I see, yeah, you probably should have been more vague & not mentioned "in this thread"
#5585 Re: The Garden » Obama figures it out » 921 weeks ago
I love how you have to find one poll that shows McCain's lead is 1%.
Fine, let's use ALL the polls on realclearpolitics.com ending 9/15:
Gallup - McCain +1
Hotline/FD Tracking - Obama +4
Rasmussen - McCain +1

Doesn't fare much better for McCain does it (oh & btw I didn't post the Obama leading poll results yet either. Because I know the lead is immenent. The wheels are falling off McCains train fast.
If you would have listened to me earlier in this thread, you guys would know your answer.
In this thread BigBri, or another?? I don't see any posts by you in this one.

Really? Then why is Obama now starting to tank in democratic stronghold states? I'd call blue states on the verge of going red "gaining ground", but I guess liberals have a different definition of the term.
It's time to cut the bullshit & go with what you got.
If we're cutting the bullshit now, McCain wins.
I do find it funny though that dems still aren't willing to admit there's an iceberg ahead when democratic advisers, polls across the board, electoral maps, and advisers close to Obama indicate there is trouble.
The longer you deny a sinkhole is right in front of you, it gets deeper.
What planet are you on James?? McCain's lead is down to only 1% in the 9/12-9/15 polls. Just wait until the 9/16-9/18 polls come out after McCain has failed in his stance on economic policy yesterday & today. By Friday Obama's leading, no doubt.
#5587 Re: The Garden » White House says No More Bailouts » 921 weeks ago
Credit card?? He left a surplus unlike Reagan & the Bush's.
As for Bailouts, I'm not saying that to support Obama, I'm just informing and correcting Axlin08 that Bush taking a hard line now doesn't mean he's always stood a hard line. He bailed out Bear Sterns & Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac. So Axlin08 shouldn't go saying "Fuck them they shouldn't be bailed out" when he bailed out 2 of those corporations in the last 6 months. Bush is only saying no more now because he knows it's time for him to just ride it out the rest of his term & let the shit fall where it may, he's a lame duck.
#5588 Re: The Garden » White House says No More Bailouts » 921 weeks ago
GOOD. GREAT CALL BY BUSH.
Finally. You jackass corporations made bad fuckin' decisions, you were handing out loans to people who couldn't pay for them because "you had to meet your quota", and now you expect, Bush, the government and the U.S. taxpayer to bail out your ass.
No Dice.
Great show as always Mr. Bush!
"As always"??... Did you forget about Bear Sterns?? They did exactly what you just said & Bush bailed them out. Sheeez

The Dow Jones (an indicator of the average of stocks in general) was 3,310 when Clinton took office. It was 10,887 when he left. It's now only 10,900.
