I'd love to hear the guitar track.

Is your name Paul Cashmere?

No, but it sounds like he has been reading my posts over the years and stole the material.  It may not be an unbiased article, but it's fair and likely pretty accurate...kinda like my posts.  Well, most of them at least.

We all know how it's fared on the national charts, but does anyone know how well it compares to how many units of other CDs that Best Buy sold this week? I mean, has ChiDem outsold Kanye at Best Buy at least?

It better have.  If they couldn't outsell an album that was available everywhere at the only location their album was available, this was a huge failure.

Lets be honest

The only reason we like CD better than VR is because Axl's vocals, lyrics and melodies are better than Scott's.

Exactly.

Maybe your record player has the hiccups.  Or it's allergic to whatever is going on in the song at that point.

No less than 75? To a man they love it?  sounds real legit.  100% approval rating. Sure roll

Admit then, you are simply speculating (and perhaps hoping) of failure.

My mind is open and I am willing to accept failure for multiple reasons, but just not based on 7 days of data.

Wow, I am a liar too, then? Great. Real nice talking with ya.

If you're accusing him of seeing what he wants to see, you need to look in the mirror.  The album should have sold on the name itself.  It didn't.  Now it has to sell on it's own merits, which even the supporters admit isn't commercially appealing.  If you don't see how that has failure written all over it, then you're just not willing to look at the obvious.  That isn't Bono's fault.

I don't think people are over GnR.  I think people are over fake GnR.  They want the real thing.  CD could have been the greatest album ever and that would still be the case.  CD being average just makes it more obvious.

#5609 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Re-Visiting Contraband » 911 weeks ago

I think both albums are more listenable than CD.  Libertad has some great guitar work that you can barely hear between Scott's voice and the "tone" of Dave's guitar.  As much as it pains me to say this, Bach would have made for a better choice as singer.  I'm not a fan of Scott's voice or lyrics, so how much worse could Bach have been?  I know they were afraid of being pigeon-holed, but at some point, you have to accept and embrace what you are.

Buckethead coming back is the ony thing that can save Axl's vision of GNR....

But anyway you look at it, even if CD is disappointing sells wise, its still going to sell a lot. That means there will be other releases, they will make money, but they will steadily decline in interest and in sells. As i said, only Buckethead can save this sinking ship.

BH coming back isn't going to save it.  He's on the album and it isn't helping.  I get that some people love him, but the truth is Axl + Slash = GnR to the general public and no other guitar player is going to be able to fill that role.  It may not be fair, but it is what it is.
