By equal time Im talking about bringing back shows like Crossfire to replace the insanity that news is today.
Did you watch Crossfire back then? It had two hosts...one liberal, one conservative. They discussed one topic each day. They had two guests....one liberal, one conservative.
We need to make these news outlets go back to what they were in the 20th century. .
Just the facts....and a couple Crossfire type shows on each network. It's time to go back to news being neutral. I should not know who the person giving me the news is voting for....and he/she should not be telling me what I'm supposed to think...or attempting to shame me for what I believe.
They also need to ditch the abrasive characters who intentionally stir the pot instead of giving us the news....
Rachel Maddow
Don Lemon
Chris Cuomo
Sean Hannity
Tucker CarlsonThrow these types on the ash heap of history.
Yeah, I loved Crossfire on CNN. For some reason, I liked Novak more than Carlson though. The problem is that these bomb throwers (on both sides) draw ratings and the networks don't really want to dump them. So these people gain power through their pulpit. This is what happens when entertainment and news get blurred. The public loses. I mean other countries have no issues devoting time to straight unbiased news. Why can't this country do it.

Both sides use this strategy....and they are in cahoots with each other.
The red team: The liberals will take all your guns so they can create a commie hellhole!
*Red team gets in power, including a supermajority, yet does nothing to fix this*
The blue team: Republicans are going to ban abortion and you'll all be dying from back alley abortions if you don't vote for us!
*Blue team gets in power, including a supermajority, yet does nothing to fix this*
This is by design. It's how they keep their base, especially single issue voters, continually riled up.
Now we're in the era of identity politics...a virtual cancer on our country.
No....the culture war is not over. Not only is it not over, it's being placed on front Street.
The Dems....who used to be the champion of women's rights....have literally gutted Title IX. Thanks to identity politics and the dystopic Idiocracy we're sleepwalking into, a lot of women are applauding the erosion of their own rights.
This issue is going to become the new guns and abortion.... keep everyone riled up while inflicting God knows how much damage before someone sane takes the wheel.
I agree with most of this. I think it's funny how when both parties gain a majority they fail to accomplish things for different damn reasons. For the Democrats it's mostly due to intra-party squabbles/fighting. The Red team is just kind of lazy. I mean they pass the shit they want, which is to the upper/moneyed class/corportations. After that they don't give a shit or just don't pass anything for the working middle class.
On Abortion, I think it's just settled law and if a woman wants to get an abortion it's her choice.
Regarding identity politics, if we are talking transgernder stuff, I think they could get hurt if they take it too far. Someone posted some tweet about complaints about a person's gender at birth. To me, it's only male or female. I mean science tells me this. It's a FACT. I don't think it's wise to make such an issue on that type of matter. It's a common sense thing to me. If it were something like, they deserve common rights that everyone has etc, I agree with that. But that type of stuff, no.

when I began posting on HTGTH, so James Lofton was a more recent retiree. Anyway I just assumed it was a corny handle James chose at some point, maybe even tracing back into the 90s, kinda like Jerry Rice or Dan Marino. Anyway it was a few years later when I learned that was actually his real name. Always thought it was a peculiar username handle to a nondescript WR for some reason.
Uh, he made the HOF in 2003.
Anyway, got the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Arm stiffness and achiness and some slight fatigue. I did get a good chuckle on of the main ingredients in the vaccine was something used in a laxative/colonscopy prep.

Tucker never claims to be a journalist, the others do. It was Tucker who warned about covid whenever all the other cable networks called it the flu. He called out Fauci for lying when he said "don't wear a mask, it doesn't work" (remember that?). I don't agree with Tucker on everything, but without him, the Left would have a full media monopoly on disseminating information, and would never be called out for deliberate disinformation. I'm sure that's what really angers progressives, though.
I totally disagree with this part. The left would never have a "full media monopoly" as you put it. If anything the networks try to be "fair" and lean center. Yeah, maybe there are some shows that lean left but not to the point where you make it sound like "leftist or liberal" info or idealogy is at the heart of American politcs.

Haley is more of a war hawk than DeSantis. Haley probably is a bigger fan of the military industrial complex.
What exactly is the GOP stand on this? Less on defense spending and intervening in wars and shit or more military hawkishness?
The problem with media sort of candidates like Tucker Carlson is that I have no idea what his real thoughts are on things. I mean he might be just saying shit for ratings or entertainment purposes. I think he's smarter than the stuff he peddles.
It's literally for entertainment purposes only.
While I hadn't watched Fox News heavily since the early 2000s, that info turned me off to it completely.
When Fox was being sued for various shit said by Hannity, Tucker, etc. Fox admitted it wasn't meant to be real news(which is a tad ironic), for entertainment purposes only, and no one in their right mind would believe what is being said on the shows.
How this info didn't destroy their careers and kill off Fox News shows in a nutshell how fucked up this country is.
Before SG responds with "But CNN lies too!....
Yes they do. So does MSNBC. However, nothing those two outlets have done comes close to the insanity of admitting your show isn't news but propaganda disguised as entertainment.
Last week's admission by CNN that they played up Covid for ratings and to make Trump look bad is getting awfully damn close though.
I want all these media outlets regulated again.
No lies...only news. The panels of talking heads needs to be limited to a set amount of hours a week. You also have to give equal time to both sides.
I think he's smarter than the stuff he peddles.
He's an elitist...heir to the Swanson foods fortune....who plays a character on TV that relates to the common man. Millions of people fall for it. Apparently like Trump, he's mocked the idiocy of his own followers in private.
These people are despicable and insidious.
The problem on a larger scale is that these people just need to report the news and deliver facts. I don't mind if you have one or two of these opinion shows but fuck when almost every news show is skewed with the anchor's opinions, I mean what happened to these people being neutral or objective. Try watching the BBC or whatever. There's very little opinion and just the simple matter of fact delivery of news stories. And to be honest, if I wanted slanted opinon types I'd go online.
I disagree on giving both sides equal time. If one side is peddling false shit, then NO you don't need to give them airtime. No real time was needed to give the Dems their defund the police thing or the Republicans lie about election fraud. That's one of the big problems really. It just helps one side spin and obfuscate.
As far as Carlson is concerned, I'm shocked he's still relevant given how Jon Stewart fucking nuked him on live tv in 2003.

Republican men and/or Trump supporters will not vote for a woman. Period.
That and at points she sounds reasonable and sane. If the Trump electorate is still a huge block of the Repbulican primary voters then she aint crazy enough for them. Plus the woman thing. I mean she needs to get out of the primary but she needs to appeal to this block and she already has several things going against her.

A lot of republicans are wanting him to run, and he's smart and more moderate than most conservatives, but I'm not sure he has "it." I still think Haley will be a force to be reckoned with. I'd only get behind a populist if I ever voted Republican. The Vance/Carlson (whatever you think about him) wing are a burgeoning movement with Republicans with their anti corporatist views. Traditional/W. Bush conservatives hate them, so that's a good sign. Tucker is more in line with Elizabeth Warren than most Democrats are.
The problem with media sort of candidates like Tucker Carlson is that I have no idea what his real thoughts are on things. I mean he might be just saying shit for ratings or entertainment purposes. I think he's smarter than the stuff he peddles.
The problem Haley has is she is a woman AND a minority running in the Republican Party.
It appears Marjorie Taylor Green is creating an openly white supremacist caucus in the House of Representatives.
The media is trying to turn her into the next Trump.
She had zero power and influence until the media gave it to her. In a normal world, she would've been mocked week one and then ignored completely on the national level. She would've lost reelection.
Thanks to the media...she's a rising star. That's exactly what they want.
I can't stand her or that imbecile from Colorado. CNN really wants her to be another Trump.
I'm calling it now....one of those two becomes Senator in the next election.
Those two are just freaking clowns. I have zero respect for them at all. Just fucking embarrassments. Some of these congresspersons don't even want to understand or know the legislative process or how to help their constituents in the district they represent. That's the awful part. I don't really care if you make a fool of yourself as long as you bring home the bacon and pork to your district that's fine. Those things provide jobs or address issues in the community/whatever.

Dark Side of the Ring season 3 premiers May 6th. Brian Pillman, Nick Gage, Ultimate Warrior, Grizzly Smith (yikes), the Plane ride from hell, and Dynamite Kid will have episodes. Can't fucking wait, especially especially for the Pillman episode.
Plane Ride from hell for me. Ric Flair WILL NOT come off looking good in that one at all. Jim Ross got interviewed for that one I think.

Breathing problems... asthma of course along with decades of smoking cigs, weed in my teens-late 20s, and also smoked some hash, opium, and oxy
Major back pain
Haven't got an actual diagnosis but pretty sure I have neuropathy in my legs and also have that feeling in my hands occasionally
Arthritis
Acid reflux issues likely made worse by all the drugs going down my throat. In 2013 I had to get a minor procedure done to fix a small tear.
A fatty/enlarged liver along with any damage from all the acetaminophen
High cholesterol due to the drug addicts diet
Urinary tract issues
My hearing is getting worse.
Like Pasnow said, your body generally starts breaking down in your 40s and my lifestyle made it worse than it should've been.
Im probably a perfect candidate to potentially die from either option I choose.
Im not some loony antivaxxer screaming about the vaccine being the mark of the beast.
You wanna get 10 Covid shots and blow the doctor to get to the front of the line? Be my guest.
Im just in no rush to get something that may kill me and I don't give a fuck what media outlets that push big pharma in general are telling me to do.
The fact they intentionally bury stories about vaccine deaths is a red flag. People can potentially die from any vaccine...let the stories out.
I'll more than likely get the shot at some point....but it won't be peer pressure, the media, family, or twittering SJW zombies forcing me to do it.
I'll do it on my own timescale.... probably when the parks open this summer.
Even when you get the shot, it doesn't change anything. You still have to wear masks, gloves, social distance, and drumroll please....
You can still get sick.
In other words, I'll be risking my life to take a shot for something that could still kill me after I take it.
Great choices....
Sympathies and understanding from me as I also have a LOT of those issues as well. And this is kinda related to the covid vaacine, a lot of these remedies have side effects. I'm not anti vax and will get it soon. But as an example, I occassionally use an asthma inhaler, I always get anxiety afterwards. There's this pain reliever that gets rid of my osteoarthritis really well BUT I get ashtma/breathing issues and insomnia afterwards and it's probably habit forming if I had to take it daily. Prostate problems/urinary problems, the urologist prescribed some med I never heard of. I went and looked up the side effects of this drug. It was like a long ass list and I passed on taking that drug. As an aside, I reccomend Pumpkin seed oil for urinary/prostate issues, it works for me with very little side effects.
I got the J&J one-dose today. I’ll let y’all know how it goes.
My brother got it. He said like 4-5 hours later it all crashed on him and he felt a shit ton of symptoms (body aches, flu etc) but it only lasted a day.
Other family members have gotten the Moderna shots. Arm pain +fatigue were the complaints there.

We're dealing with two major foreign policy crises simultaneously. It could potentially spread our military very thin...and what happens if the Middle East flares up, North Korea, or some Black Swan event?
Russia has 85k troops on the border with more on the way and Putin currently won't negotiate.
China and the US are having a standoff in the South China Sea....and China is flying more jets near Taiwan.
This could get hot really quick.
They can't really do anything with either of these issues. They are both on the other guy's "main turf". Plus, I'm pretty sure we depend on China and need them more than they need us (cough...all those MADE IN CHINA goods..that the US citzens seem to buy).
