While I won't say that Bucket is better than Slash, I will say that since he left GNR Slash hasn't written anything that good.  I don't know if it's because he got lazy or lack of inspiration but he hasn't written anything that would come close to his GNR days since he left.

Ummm...yeah, but that goes both ways.  GnR hasn't written anything that was as good as their previous work as a whole either.  2 potentially decent songs (if they could be stripped down some) does not make an album.  Even with all the filler of UYI, there is far more than "2 potentially decent songs" on each album.

It's really a moot point.  BH is awesome at what he does with his solo work and that seems to be what he enjoys.  Slash is awesome at what he does and that seems to be what he enjoys.  Does it matter if one is "better" than the other?  If we can anjoy what each does best, isn't that more important?

Unless the album is far more BH dominated than the leaks have been, BH will not mean more to GnR than Slash did...unless by important you mean taking mediocre songs and making them releaseable (if that's a word).

Interesting that the only 2 songs I think are worth a damn are the last 2 left...

I've always been man enough to admit when I'm wrong...this is one of those times.

I found BH on Rhapsody and I'm through 3 songs.  I don't dislike any of them, but I can't say I love any of them.  The 3 I've heard so far (Whitewash, All in the Waiting, and Sketches of Spain) sound like good music to fall asleep to (which isn't a bad thing...they are relaxing).

Edit: Just listened to Star Wars.  I am now a fan.  I still don't think he's right for guns, but the guy's solo work is pretty impressive and there's a lot of variety to it.

This entire thread is just amazing.  That's all.  Carry on.

I do find it funny that they have "live" tracks available as DLC on GH3 for the PS3 instead of studio versions.  Is there really a difference for them?

While I appreciate Megadeth and Mustaine more than I do Metallica, the question revolves around the career.  When I compare their careers, I tend to take commercial success into consideration.  In that case, Metallica wins hands down.  Metallica was THE metal band since they started out.  They've had worldwide critical and commercial success.  Yes, Megadeth is great and I like them better, but there's really no comparison.

That's what I was thinking.  I couldn't believe anybody was voting for Megadeth to be honest.  I honestly am not a big fan of either band, so maybe I can look at it more objectively, but there's no question that Metallica has had a more successful career.  It's not even close.  Maybe Metallica has been in a downward spiral for years, but they're still above Megadeth, so that really says it all.

They played on one of those stupid reality shows my wife watches and they were definately lip-syncing.  It was brutally obvious...we were very disappointed.

Just because we've been talking about and waiting for CD doesn't mean the rest of the record buying public has been.  I think a lot of people are over-estimating the power of a few people on the internet.  CD selling well is far from a sure thing...that may not have been the case a few years ago, but it is now.

I hear that, but how come every time something happens in the world of GNR, it is all over music sites, newspapers, magazines, etc.? They surely aren't publishing those stories to please a few people on the Internet.

I work at a newspaper and have been in the media industry all my life. Believe me, stories don't get published to appeal to a niche group of people.

If you ask me, it's only because it's an interesting piece of news...something that people will go "oh" to when they hear about it, so it makes the news.  That doesn't mean they'll all be in line at midnight the day the album is released.  The name Guns N' Roses holds weight.  If Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were recoring an album together, it would certainly make the news, but it doesn't mean everyone would rush out to buy it.  It's just an interesting note that will catch people's attention briefly.  The product will have to keep their interest.
