I don't care for the songs, but very little of that has to do with BH.  I also don't think the bring back BH cries are quite as loud as you want to think they are, but that's just my opinion.  I think it's more like there's a very vocal minority that are dominating threads making it appear as though there is a huge outcry when in reality it's just a few high profile people.

EDIT:  Do we really KNOW it's a BH tune?  Maybe it started that way, but none of us know what the final song sounds like.  If it's anything like the other leaks, and there's every reason to believe it is, then there's no way you can say BH dominates the song...there's a large chunk of those songs where he isn't even playing.  He may be the highlight, but he doesn't play enough to dominate.

Not likely, but there's always a chance.

Well, something's obviously starting now, or soon. Even if it is just a single, you gotta take baby steps with GNR. Everything remotely signaling forward movement on Axl's part must be considered a big deal. That is, unless this all blows up.

Oh, I agree...but history says things like this have blown up before.  I don't think I'll actually believe it's out until I see it on a shelf myself.  I still don't think I'll ever see it on a shelf.  This reeks of the harley mess all over again...they can't release an album anytime soon.  Who knows who is in the band and who isn't at this point.  They have to be able to tour to support it and they can't tour without a band.  Right now they have BBF as the only guitarist that doesn't have plans (that I know of) for the rest of the year and he doesn't play a major role on the album (last we heard).  I don't see how this can work even if they want it to.

I'm only obsessed with hot female celebrities.  I don't care about the rest of them.

I think the only goal of this is to get the contract completed.  We'll never hear from VR after that.

Back to the original question, I don't think Azoff was brought in to get Bucket back. He was brought in to resurrect and reignite the Gnr brand by whatever means necessary. I still think he has a dual purpose of releasing CD and putting together a reunion.

Once again, we agree on something!  It happens now and then.

I've made my point and I'm done with you.  You just will never see him for what he really is and I accept that about you.

I can name quite a few shitty bands that have been on mtv and letterman.  That's not qualifications for a rock star, that's called promotion.

A full length interview in Billboard or RS or whatever magazine you want to pick doesn't qualify someone as a rock star.  Magazine covers, multiple interviews in multiple magazines, multiple appearances on multiple tv shows, fame, fortune, paparzzi, etc...that makes a rock star - not somebody that was lucky enough to get there once or twice and the general public has no idea who he is.  He is a rock musician, he's not a rock star.

My point remains the same, if you did not know who Tommy Stinson was before 1998, then your overall knowledge of rock and roll is fairly limited. Simple as that. I don't care if someone in the jungles of Brazil knows who he is.....but he is a household name among musicians, critics, and music historians.

And my point remains the same.  HE wasn't even on the radar.  His band was to some extent, but not him.  I'm not making that up...go look at album sales, interviews, hit singles, etc.  They barely registered as a band and good luck finding him plastered all over magazines from the 80s.  That's cool that "industry" people knew who he was and I know they influenced other bands that made it bigger than they did - that's not being a rock star.  Were talking about 2 completely different things.

No, I'd say my recollection of the music scene is dead on accurate...no need for you to question my knowledge of rock and roll, especially when it comes to the 80s.  If you want to say my knowledge of fringe bands from the 80s is limited - I might give you that...there were so many one hit wonders and these guys didn't even make that level, so they were pretty forgettable.

Don't take it so personally.  Every time I post anything about Tommy or his band, you choose to insult my knowledge of music.  I didn't write history, I'm just reporting it.

#6160 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Azoff factor re-examined: could he be targeting Bucket, not Slash? » 931 weeks ago

Thats a bit harsh. He is a huge Stinson/Mats fan, and to say he is "always wrong"is ludicrous.

Oh, I'm the first in line to admit mad knows way more than I do about Tommy, but it clouds his judgement.  He is only "always wrong" when he brings up the Stinson is some music legend or rock star or whatever term he wants to use.  That's quite simply not the case no matter how many times he wants to say it is.  I've been a musician and been around musicians all my life and NEVER heard his name mentioned until he joined GnR, and those mentions only came at GnR sites.  I don't see his name being brought up much even now that I'm aware of it.

He's not a rock star.  I didn't make it that way...don't blame the messenger.  I'm glad he has his fans, but he's simply not a household name.
