Tommy's got some solo shows starting up in February, so probably not GNR related. Maybe that's what DJ meant about GNR touring the states in February. Various members will start touring outside of GNR.
Yeah I know. Friggin' sucks. I think the lack of a States tour manifesting is also a sign that there's virtually no chance, as of now, that any new music will see the light of day in 2011, whether an EP or LP.
I think it's a bit early to say anything on how 2011 will play itself out. A US tour will likely not start in Feb. But things could happen in spring/summer. Isn't that the best time to tour anyway?
In autumn '09, few of us would have guessed that GNR would be touring through all of 2010, hitting basicly every continent (minus Africa and Antarctica!)

Actually if anything using the drummer analogy proves my point. Since the beginning of GN'R, Axl has used drummers like kleenex. The irony is other than Brain, Josh Freese is the only other GN'R drummer to have co-written a GN'R song, yet never performed live with them.
They have always been treated like they are "replaceable". I thought at least Brain would be spared, but even he was forced out when he had other obligations in life. Axl has shown NO loyalty to ANY drummer he's ever worked with. It amazes me that any drummer still would sign up to work for the guy.
Damn! Being a GNR-fan sure isn't easy!
To me it doesn't seem like the drummers that have been in GNR post 97 have had it that bad.
Sure it seemed like Josh Freese wanted to be in a band that was more productive. I think I read somewhere that Axl got a "thank you" on A perfect Circle's debut "Mer de Noms" because Howerdel/Freese was given the OK to bring material they created for GNR over to APC.
And the Brain/Ferrer situation seems to have been handled without any serious hard feelings on anyone's parts. Brain has given interviews lately where he talks about working on GNR stuff to this day. And Axl has confirmed that he constantly works on GNR stuff from his house/studio.
These past comments from Axlin08 and Monkeychow would make a casual rock fan shake his head in utter comic amusement! Not saying either of you are "wrong". The comments are legit, as far as both your preferences go. And if GNR release a follow up to CD with a mixture of "old" songs with new "finnishing touches", the situation becomes even more comic (if that's the way you wanna spin it to make it fit your preference!)
But just as Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke, without little or no writing-credits have been a member of GNR. So is everyone in the current lineup.
Like Axl said (surrounded by the current lineup) in that short Abu Dhabi video-interview: "We are Guns N' Roses!"
To me it's THAT simple! But hey! I'm an uncool "nutswinger", so what do I know!

If we're breaking out with the "what if" dreams...I'd love to see the new band belt out some of the chinese tracks in an intimate private setting like the 'rehersal dvd' trent released a few years back.
I'd love to see Shackler's or TWAT or like some of the CD songs with this type of up close proshot live-ish feel.

I also liked it a lot when Metallica did something similar on their St.Anger special edidtion. That rehersal was even more intimate. Hell, it was better than the actual album!!!

I clicked on that link and just saw Muse playing a song live? What were you referring to?
Juist on that point, was he really singing that song his vocals sounded perfect (not live)!
Weren't you able to control the cameras? Click, hold and drag in any direction you will! It's like you're standing on the stage! On the smaller pic below you can even change to multiple cameras around the stage, all without the main video stopping!
Muse is one of my favourite bands besides GNR. They're huge in Europe!
I'll bet the vocals are 100% live. They hate playback! They were forced to do playback on an Italian tv-show, so they switched instruments on that performance. The singer/guitarist "played" drums, the drummer "sang" etc etc. Funny stuff!
