Fuck the bad rep the friend zone gets mate, nothing's easier than getting to a girl from within the friend zone. The thing is, now that she trusts you, you can bust out the sexual innuendo's without any risk and embed the thought of you and her into her mind. Don't wanna sound like a total player (a real player would never agree with me 'bout the friend zone to begin with), and my terminology might come across as slightly disrespectful but I actually think it's the most natural way of progressing and really lays (no pun intended) a good base for a decent relationship.
Her guard is down, you've earned that by becoming her friend. Now show her that there's even more to you than that. Show her you can be exciting.

I think what Axlin means is Izzy, Slash, Duff and Adler could all get together and start a band but no matter what it would never sound like Guns because it lacks Axl. Wheras even with a completely new lineup the songs still sound pretty much the same live and that's because they've got the guy who makes it all happen: Axl. Without his vocals they would just sound like a tribute band. A Damn good one but still a tribute band. Axl's vocals are the most defining feature of the Guns sound.
True, but this goes for most recognizable vocalists. I mean, the Offspring wouldn't sound like the Offspring at all without Dexter Holland, but that's not really saying anything about the guy's talent, is it?
What made Appetite happen was the unique combination of people working on those songs, recording them at that time with that attitude and they were all pretty important to the end product. Take out any single one of them and this wouldn't have happened. I think that's more important than deciding which one would be needed most to build an almost identical sounding cover-band around. You can teach anyone to play the songs on guitar, bass & drums, but you can't teach someone to sound like Axl. That's not important, the song writing is what it's all about.
The difference back then was that there was some form of mutual respect and understanding that vanished with the years. Axl can hire whoever he wants, he's never going to get that type of chemistry going again if he wants be seen as the king of the hill all the time. That's why I think a reunion stand the most chance of ever giving us something special again, some form of mutual respect would almost seem imperative for that to even be contemplated.

The quote in the post is somewhat out of context. The entire quote I think reflects most people's opinions with any knowledge of the band and how it worked, not just an insider's view. I think it also summarizes some of the failure of the new band.
Yup, the title is a little provocative while in context it almost seems as if Canter's struggling to say anything really meaningful about good ol' Axl. Not minimizing his input though, he wrote a lot of the melodies which really give these songs that little extra and he was the motivating and driving force behind the band. He used to run around with a little book on "how to become a famous band", quoting stuff out if it to everyone to keep 'm motivated. I can only image the amazing atmosphere these guys must have had the pleasure of enjoying back then.

Absolutely magnificent production on that one. Great, great, great guitar tones and tons of attitude that the UYI's (and CD again) seemed to be missing. Shame it was a cover album

Mike Patton is god with Faith No More, what a frontman.
But be sure to watch closely around the 2:40 mark, keep a close look on the lower right corner of the vid at that point!

A Private Eye wrote:I was going to ask at my local game store but as a few people on here will probably know the answer I thought I'd ask...If you've got a 40GB PS3 that won't play PS2 games is there any hardware that can be installed (legally preferably) that will make a 40GB PS3 compatible with PS2 games?
No. But there's a firmware update coming hopefully by the end of the year that will allow backward compatibility on any PS3
Do you gave a source for that? I would friggin' love that! I bought some PS2 games off of ebay a year or so back and never got to play them 'cause the DVD drive in my PS2 went fubar.
#630 Re: The Garden » The ins and outs of relationships...what does it all mean>? » 874 weeks ago
In my personal opinion, I think alot of these issues have always existed in relationships, but prior generations, marriage was enforced as 'perminate' and a marriage that seperated/divorce was a HUGE stain on that person's reputation. Newer generations have been raised/conditioned to believe that you walk away when you want, so those issues that were always there, are just more publicly known now, because people aren't afraid to try something else.
Fully agree with this, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I firmly believe people are meant to be "serial monogamists" as I usually put it. You have to settle down eventually though, and I presume that's when a sort of love that could be described as a "deep friendship" takes over.
I will say this though to the young adult crowd 25-35... the grass is NOT greener on the other side. If you've got a good relationship, hang on to it, because it's HARD, and I mean HARD to really meet "good" people when you hit that age range. And going to bars & clubs, is sifting through the bottom of the barrel, typically.
Yeah, thanks for making me feel even worse about my recently crashed relationship, I'm smack dab in the middle of your demographic there
