I find the remixes kinda fun - if the world was cool too - but they're more like "fun bonus disk content" to me than like "this is what the album should have been" - with the exception of those TIL vocals which rock!

I think that's basically what they were for, a bonus disc. Except all of the Better's , I think that was like a homework type thing he would give everybody to see what they could do with it. Explains why there is a Brain version, Ron version, Ashba version, even a Slash and Reece version.

Pretty sure there is a studio version of the Sorry remix too.

Sorry if that posts off topic btw lol.

There's more remix's than people know I think, some good some bad, I wonder what the reaction would have been had they been released though, not great i think

I dont have all of these anymore due to HD fuck up but

TIL remix- First clip leaked in December 2013 which pissed me off as I was hoping to use it to trade with, still doubt it would have worked as the remix's are worth less in a trade. Shortly after the clip leaked I found a 30 second clip sat on 4shared that had clips of Silk, OMG, TIL, & the other remixes.
Axl said this about TIL in 2008 on the forum chats.

“The main string melody in that section (meaning the bridge) I had originally written to a hip-hop loop as
well.”
( AXL CD.COM 2008 )

That sort of hints that the remix is probably closer to the actual original that you might expect. Vocals sound 2006 or 2010 to my ears but given that song dates back to the early 90's (Axl mentions it on the Robert John Doc) Those vocals could in therory be the oldest of the CD era.

The shackler's remix was done in December 2007

Brain: Axl is really interested in having everybody bring what they do into the picture. I just did a remix of
"Shackler’s,” - made it kind of more club. And I think he wants to put out a remix album of some of the other
songs we did. http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/arti … icleid=175

My friend Brain is the drummer for Guns N' Roses (he also used to be the drummer for Primus). He wrote
two of the songs on the new Guns N' Roses record 'Chinese Democracy" released late last year.
He and his musical collaborator Melissa Reese worked up a hip hop/club version of the song 'Shackler's
Revenge" with programmed beats and additional loops and cool sounds. They asked me to mix it. I've been
chipping away at it for a few weeks over the Christmas holidays and finally I think it is done. I'm quite happy
with how it turned out, it is pretty wacky though! (later, sometime in February) Brain called to say that Axl
Rose finally heard the remix and really likes it. Yay!.. (Sean Beresford Sunday,January, 2009)

The remix actually was posted on Sean's profile page for a short time before being removed.

_Shackler_Revenge_club_remix.html (broken link)

If that interview with Sean was in January 2009 and Brain called him in February then it follows that Brain
and Mellisa Reese made the remix in December 2007. Which proves that at least this remix actually predated Chinese Democracy's release

Where in the hell is this dance remix of TIL?

Now that I think about it....other than shit like that acoustic Better and that pure shit version of Silkworms with Ron on it, I don't think I ever bothered listening to any of that stuff.

Only thing I remember that might be similar to that stuff is Melissa singing that wacky version of Sorry.

Too many drugs...too many years ago.

I gotta say I like that version of Sorry, It's a shame we dont have a studio version of that yet we have 17 versions of Better.

Scraped Shacklers Sorry…look at the credits and there is some dude named Scaturro in there as well.

Bucket...Brain...Scaturro....the Giant Robot Production.

When we got the Village leaks, fans finally got a glimpse of the so called shadow lineups concept.

When listening to songs like Sorry, Dub Suplex, Prom Violence, Devious Bastard, and crap like Dummy, Realdoll, and Shackler, you're not listening to GNR....you're listening to songs, jams, and snippets brought to the table by Giant Robot.

You can probably place Zodiac 13 in this category as well. In fact...I'd wager my left nut on it.

Yeah even if the discs were not labeled you can tell that this disk is Bucket/Brain/Scaturro and this other disk is Stinson/Fink.

The only one that sounded like it could be hard to place main songwriter wise was Rebel, I remember Axl saying they tried to write songs in the "Old style" but that they didn't really work. Well Rebel has to be one of them, can see what they were going for but it sounds way to formulaic. RTB produced that one, there's a guy who must have some stories to tell

JimiRose from MYGNR mentioned he follows Creative Works London on FB, they are the company who has made the big screen video stuff for the past few years. He posted to them "Hope you have something good for the General, it warrants it!" and they reponded with a shocked emoji to his comment then commented "Who is this person the General that you speak of ?" https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=74 … &ref=notif

They have probably have made a big screen video for The General & Perhaps given there both on the setlist. I wonder if they are more careful with there security than GMatter/TV used to be. There the company that used to do the same role for the band around 10 years ago & thats where the Prostitute video, CD video, Stageplan mockups and that live 2010 gig came from. Along with other short clips.

Hopefully there security is more robust....

Hey, has anyone tried dropping the isolated Perhaps vocal onto that rehearsal clip, so we can at least hear an approximation of the full-band performance?

At Glastonbury it makes sense to play a mainstream set & leave the deep cuts out. The level of exposure from Glasto is pretty immense compared to other festivals, it's something that bleeds into mainstream culture in the UK in a way something like Download does not.

Smartest thing is play a set with all the hits, then when TV exposure ect leads to increased streams (which it will in the following days) THEN that's when they should release new stuff.

In a contract between GN'R and Graspop GN'R is the dominant player, I mean they can say "No we don't want to be on live streaming thanks" & if the other party doesn't like that then it's frankly tough tits. Graspop must have agreed to those terms.

In a contract between GN'R and Glastonbury it's the other way around, Glasto is the dominant force there, & they wouldn't be playing unless they had agreed to be proshot.

They need to nail this gig as much as possible.

I really want to hear an updated version that potentially has some Buckethead additions. He could've done something special with it.

It's quite possible when you think of how TWAT was largely extended to incorporate some bucket. And atlas of all the demos seemed like it needed something else structure wise to me to bring it to the boil. Like its a great song but it sort of didn't quite yet amount to what it might to me.

It's interesting that bumble said he played on it too I think.....which would also suggest there's a version with more guitars than what we heard from the locker.

Ron worked on it in 2008

"Atlas Shrugged, I was going to tell a little story about that song. Right now on my laptop, I actually have
the old guitar solo that I played for that song, when, two days before the album was going to be mastered, I
was like, let's see if we can squeeze it on to the album. I busted out some guitar tracks for it, I have my own
studio...
