These protesters were more busy taking selfies than trying to harm anyone. I do support anything about what happened but for fucks sake they were let in and nobody had any guns.
Acting US Attorney Michael Sherwin said prosecutors expect to file 15 federal criminal cases related to the incident at the Capitol. One man who was arrested had a military semi-automatic rifle and 11 Molotov cocktails "that were ready to go."
— Kristine Phillips (@bykristinep) January 7, 2021
Sherwin said an additional 40 cases were filed in Washington DC Superior Court. Charges include unlawful entry, assault, firearms possession
— Kristine Phillips (@bykristinep) January 7, 2021
Regarding the 15 federal cases, charges include unauthorized entry, firearms possession, theft.
Please stop. Your interpretation of this event is awful.

That story about the ball tazing is pure insanity. We have to somehow fix this poisoned culture.
I think you almost have to go full on censorship on these sites. I just don't see another way past it. For far too long, twitter and facebook have let these people post these crackpot theories just kind of unfettered. Yeah, they might find other spots but it'll be more difficult and beyond the brain power of some of these traitors.
Arrests and stiff sentences for some of these people will deter as well. You have to treat these people as terrorists at this point.
Oh that ball hazing is one of the funniest and dumb things I've read. That and the idiot who got trampled and died while holding a Don't tread on me flag.

Some of the stuff that has come out today is truly scary and frightening. We were real close to a massacre. Some of these traitors had zipties and, molotov cocktails and rifles.

Of course Biden isn't going to say anything about this subject yet. He's not insane. He's also got other priorities at the moment.
I'm shocked Manchin said it.
Biden backs the $2000 checks, but the covid vaccine has to be priority #1. This pandemic is raging out of control. Hospitals are gonna have to stop taking patients at all if this keeps up.
We've somehow got to get more vaccines out there and actually administered. An actual federal plan, one Trump never implemented, would help. Using the defense production act, which Trump also never implemented, will also help.
There needs to be mass drive-thru vaccinations at stadiums, churches, arenas, wherever people can get in long-ass lines. Our gargantuan zoos are closed in Chicago. Use those parking lots.
My wife and son have deadly peanut, lentil, and pea allergies. Our hospitals are running about 80% full here. In a month's time, if they had an episode, I doubt they'd get the care they need.
This virus mutation is gonna burn through our lazy population, it's scary to think about.
Yeah, I was reading about some of the stuff in LA and their hospitals and it's really scary. It's gotten so bad that they have to set up temporary morgues.
There is a far greater demand (of the vaccine) than supply at this point.
And those nuts jeering Graham need to be taken out or whatever. I'm not defending Graham who is a weasel but these clowns started chanting traitor at Mitt Romney during a recent flight.

Manchin just said "Absolutely not!" on any 2k stimulus.
That means Dems would need Republicans to help pass it.
I know what's probably going to happen....they'll keep the stimulus out of the news cycle so no one focuses on it. With Trump on the way out, they don't have to harp on it.
The Dems shit show has officially begun. They've got two years until losing the house and senate.
These cycles are so predictable. Talk a big game when you're in the minority but as soon as power is handed to you, it's obvious that you didn't support it in the first place.
Can we at least wait until Biden takes office before we criticize the 2021-23 era? If Biden is the man we all hope he is...getting things done in Washington should be something he excels in.
Also, $2000 payments are a popular idea. I think the right negotiating tool is put this on the table when negotiating about corporate liability during CO-VID and State and Local federal funding.
Manchin backpedaled a little too. Claimed that his first priority was getting the vaccine out. I don't think it's dead only because there appears to be some bi-partisan support for this, like Rubio even that sycophant Hawley appears to be for it.

I think over the course of a couple years they should start phasing out the panels of talking heads. It isn't necessary. Put those people on podcasts or blogs if you have to.
More emphasis on news. I don't give a fuck if Biden took a drink of water or walked down a flight of stairs the wrong way. Tell me in one segment what he did that day and move on to the next story.
This isn't supposed to be entertainment. Maybe have shows like CNN's Crossfire to see a bit of political sparring.
Start showing some feel good stories and less serious news in between the Doom and Gloom.
No partisan hacks giving us the news. We never knew who the Brokaws and Cronkites voted for or hated and we didn't need to know. Report the news...then get off the screen.
No more fake outrage or propaganda. Just because one loon spazzes out on twitter doesn't mean it's worthy of global coverage.
The country will have to be eased into the transition.
Yes. This. I just sometimes want the news and not just news of the story of the moment but actual other stories of other states and/or countries. I don't need the anchors (the news ones) pontificating for five minutes with their personal thoughts (don't care if I agree or not). They are there to report the news. That means reading it correctly and conveying the facts and stories to the audience.
If you need one of those political analysts; use a non partisan one, or one respected by both sides like David Gergen or whatever or Jeff Greefield. Sometimes you don't need to give both sides, that cuts out a lot of bs.
And for fucks sake make sure that the stories are factually correct. And please do not give news stories that are rumors or just bullshit any light of day. One of the worst things that has happened to journalism is that fake news shit by people who don't like what's being reported. So they just say fake news and disparage the reporter who has worked hard and has several sources to back them up. Gives light of day to those crackpot theories/people like the Q'Anon stuff.
Who knew that one episode of the Simpsons in the 90s could be so prophetic?

Some will call me crazy but whoever shot that woman deserves a medal. Our leaders were near that area and he wasn't allowing anyone to cross that line.
It delivered a much needed wake up call to those people. If he doesn't shoot her, it might have gotten even uglier real quick.
The guy telling all those people to break through the door is a coward. He did it from a safe distance. Someone should've caved his jaw in.
If this happens again I want all of them shot on sight.
No complaints here and you're not crazy. If some cop is telling you to stand down and has a gun pointed at you and you STILL proceed to disobey the order, well if something bad happens to you, it's your own fucking fault. There was a TMZ vid that came out today that showed her just ranting in her driving, she's a fucking loon.
These people are zombies at this point and not real bright. These idiots go maskless or wear identifying info and makes it easier for them to get arrested or get fired from their jobs. Good riddance I say.
Trump threw him under the bus minutes before the storming of the Capitol began. People were yelling out for Pence to be lynched...and he was feet away from these people before being moved.
I totally forgot about this. And this is one of the more fucked up things about yesterday. You have him basically giving out an order to hunt down his own VP just because the guy wouldn't go against the Constitution and do (Trump's bidding).
The faster we get back to a "normal" governement the better. Our country can't function with this chaos. And we look like a GIGANTIC fuckup on the world stage. I know that doesn't matter as much to others but if you're supposed to the World's superpower and one that everyone looks up to, shit like this can't and shouldn't happen.

slcpunk wrote:PaSnow wrote:They need to invoke the 25h. It's time.
There is absolutely no reason to believe trump is going to behave after his "concession" last night. Who would take the word of this man? He's shown over and over again he is not fit for office and is a pathological liar.
The 25th must be invoked and he has to be removed to ensure a peaceful transition.
Apparently when Pelosi and Schumer tried calling Pence to discuss invoking the 25th, he didn't answer his phone.
I still believe something unconventional happened last night. Trump was taken out of the loop at some point. Advisers saying he sounded insane while ranting and raving to the point they couldn't get through to him.
He also refused to call in the national guard when the storming of the Capitol happened...and advisers saying he looked to be enjoying it.
He's insane and beyond defending at this point.
That's more or less what Pence and the sane people did. They just bypassed Trump and kept him out of the loop. and acted for the good of the country. They knew he (Trump) would be preoccupied with other stuff (probably still complaining about Pence). And that's how they should deal with him for the next 13 days. The 25th got invoked unofficially in a roundabout way or whatever you want to describe it as.

misterID wrote:The fact he got as many votes as he did, especially with Hispanics and Blacks, shows how out of touch progressives are.
This is what you're talking about today? How "out of touch" progressives are? This is mind numbing in it's detachment from reality. We have a party who are full throttle against democracy, failing to uphold their oath to the COTUS who are still contesting the election after our president incited seditious acts and you're talking about liberals and how out of touch they are. JFC, get a grip.
That and blaming the Capitol police. Yeah, they weren't good but it was nowhere near the main problem. I'm watching CNN and they are replaying those speeches by Giuliani, Trump Jr. and Trump prior to the storming of the capital (ie calling those dipshits to arms). But yeah go focus on the shoddy Capitol police.
Oh these lowlifes were taking stuff out of the Capitol building as well. Some idiot was taking a podium, another one stole a laptop from a Senator and another one stole mail or something off Pelolsi's desk.

I think Pence made the decision along with consultation w/Pelosi and McConnell and Schumer. That a good sign.
And Trump doesn’t have to be removed, but as is now w/mostly everyone deserting him, he has no clout or power and that’s a good thing.
As far as the Trump kids running in 2024, I bet the GOP will want someone who is normal. And I get the feeling will come out + he may get indicated in NY for financial crimes. The name will be radioactive in 2024.
