The guy at Wal-Mart is wrong. They still only stock censored CD's. At least in my area.

Speaking of which, I walked through Wal-Mart today, and there was AC/DC shit EVERYWHERE. Even now.

Greatest marketing Campaign I have ever seen for an album.  Even in the clothes section the stuff is everywhere.  Hell, I bought two older AC/DC albums because of it.  "If you want blood you got it" and "High Voltage".....  $7 each.  They had some really cool t-shirts and hats too.  GNR and thier protion = FAIL.

Absolutely. Hell, I bought an AC/DC collar and chew toy for my dog there!

Was Best Buy the let down or was Axl? It's hard to go all out for an album when the artist who recorded it doesn't show any interest.

Thats true, but you would have thought regardless, it was in Best Buy's interest to promote the hell out of this thing. I've seen lots of Best Buy ads on tv lately. Would have thought they would have thrown some out there with CD featured in it.

Yep, I mean, Wal Mart is still pushing the hell out of AC/DC right now a couple months after the album has been released. I would have loved to have seen GNR get that kind of treatment. Best Buy was a total let down.

Still doesn't mean much to me.  My interest is the number of units sold within the first couple of months, in particular the first month.

How many would it have sold had it not been a Best Buy exclusive?  Best Buy isn't exactly on the same level as say a Wal-Mart.

I still say it will do better (by a million or so) than Contraband did when the smoke clears.  To me that's successful enough.  I never thought it would be the 10 million units sold like some people dreamed of.  I guesstimate it will sale 3-3.5 million copies.

Keep in mind that the target crowd will NOT be the downloaders like most of us, it will be the guys who still buy cds at Wally-World or wherever.  I was in Wal-Mart today buying some stuff (for fuck's sake STAY AWAY from Wal-Mart until after Xmas...it's HELL!!!) and a Forty-ish looking "good 'ol boy" was looking for the album.  This isn't over.

Totally Agreed!! I think that it only being available at Best Buy could have totally hurt the sales it's first week if people don't know that it's only available there.   When they find that out, now they are going to get the album.

Agreed with both of you. I dont really get this "flop" business at all. Having it be an exclusive at a store like Best Buy really hampers its ability to sell in huge numbers. If they were looking to sell huge numbers, that was a mistake. If they wanted it to be an exclusive, Wal Mart would have been a better route. When I went to get CD on the 23rd, I had to drive an hour to get it. Sure, I wasnt going to miss it for the world, but the average Joe isnt going to drive that far. They'll just get it when its convenient for them.

Plaxico Burress.. ohh where to start.

Another G-MEN win. Even without Burress we still play like a well oiled machine. Hixon has filled in for Burress like a fucking champ.

I LOVE Domenik Hixon! Gotta thank the Broncos for waiving him last year!:P

I dont know, rules are rules I guess. I suppose that is one of those obscure rules that you dont hear much of since an offensive linemen usually doesnt catch the kick off.

Plaxico Burress is an idiot!

Yes he is. But its been the same shit all year. I think part of his problem this year has been him being reactionary, and not really a bad teammate or bad person. But this goes beyond terrible judgement. First, you have a wife and small child, and you are out at a night club? Then you break a very serious law by carrying a concealed handgun with no license. And then you shoot yourself? 18

I love Plax and all he has done for the Giants, but I just dont get it. 17

Nice win for the Giants today though! 22

Ahhh, my two favorite bands, GNR and KISS.

#669 Re: Guns N' Roses » Chinese Democracy UNDER 300,000 copies sold first week? » 911 weeks ago

Not as good as most had hoped, though those hopes were probably a little un-realistic. But it certainly doesnt seem to flop considering it was a store exclusive, and that store happens to be one that isnt in every town. Not bad at all.

Only AFD is better. Just a little bit better. Both Illusions have too much filler. CD doesn't have that, in my opinion.

I agree in that I think its the best GNR cd besides AFD. It doesnt touch it. But I love the Illusions too.
