dave-gnfnr2k (welcome aboard by the way) you're comment about GNR being the biggest band in the world during grunge's peak is spot on. I'm so sick of everyone blaming grunge on the death of metal, hard rock (whatever you want to call it). Sure grunge was a new and relevant flavor but it was the bands of the time that killed themselves. They were either so fucked up on drugs that they became lazy and released crap or they just simply didn't release anything at all for years at a time. THIS is what killed these bands and left some very good grunge acts like Mother Love Bone, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Nirvana in total control. It was a one-two punch, not a sole knockout.
Yes & no. A case can be made for GnR killing themselves, they basically did. But bands like Crue, Cindarella, Poison, Warrant, Skid Row had no shot, again NO SHOT of surviving the grunge era. The few that did were GnR & The Black Crowes. That's about it, some other like Metallica & Megadeth etc, but they weren't really "mainstream" prior to grunge. Also, before grunge hit there were some severely shitty bands (Mr Big anyone?? Extreme...) Tesla was ok, I liked them. They somewhat survived, but never topped their success of Love Song or Signs. There might have been s small few others I'm not thinking of.
As for the OP, yeah it's a good writeup, aside from the "surviving" snafu.. DTJ's right, "remaining" is a much better word but whatever.. Russtcb yeah there's ttwo sides to every coin though. On one hand in the general publics eye it's an 'anticipated comeback', but on the other, he's in an article of comebacks with Vanilla Ice, Spice Girls, and Mike. Not exactly elite company either.

Yeah I can't beleive it. When I first heard it I thought it may have been a domestic thing, and that he was wounded, but ok. Didn't expect him to die. It seems the bullet hit his femur artery & he must have bled a ton.
RIP Sean.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough still having to play Dallas & Giants again. In addition Seattle NO & Buff. Could go anywhere from 4-1 to 2-3 or something. But yeah, they played a heck of a game last night, and have talent. I'm just not ready to annoint them as 10-6 like some people here are thinking that they'll win out.

Minn & Arizona both have pretty easy schedules the rest of the way. Wouldn't surprise me if one of them got the final wildcard spot.

hell i told you guys they should got Quinn in last years draft, but whatever
The funny thing is, they could still get him. The Browns organization was stupid and drafted Quinn without even analyzing the talent they already had. They are playoff bound, and Quinn hasn't taken one snap. If I was the Browns, I would trade the guy and try and move up in the draft.
Actually that would be a pretty wise move for both the Browns & whoever goes for him. Sure the Browns gave up this years 1st rounder & probably another pick or two in last years draft, but they wanted a good QB. They got him. Only it's not the QB they were thinking it was going to be. Still, Derek Anderson looks like the real deal, & sometimes the best QB's do come out of nowhere (Warner, Romo) as opposed to 1st rounders who are busts about 50% of the time. For the team getting Quinn, you get a young QB for the future with pro potential, with 1 year experience of learning in practice & on the bench, who can start if not opening day, maybe by week 8. Worth trading a mid-late first round pick for. We'll see. Remember the Chargers had Drew Brees & Philip Rivers. Rivers is ok, but I don't think he's mind-blowingly better than Brees is, so it wouldn't have been a terrible move to trade Rivers without him ever playing and keep Brees.

as for the eagles...they should get rid of McNabb IMO while he has any value left
Yeah, he's got a few years left in him, and would be better fitted with a more running style offense (Minn), but with many recent injuries and and high salary the next few years his value probably isn't going to all that high (probably not a 1st or 2nd rounder). Regardless I think he's done here after this year.

I wouldn't call the NFC wildcard wrapped up, I think it's totally up in the air actually. And since Philly beat Detroit, we are only 1/2 game behind them, so if both have the same record, we win the tiebreaker & get in. Minn could make a run as well, it really depends on teams schedules and I think I hear Detroit has a really hard ending to their schedule. Arizona really could have taken the lead by beating SF, but they blew that opportunity.
As for my NE post, I guess I didn't mean we shut down NE offense, but we did for Moss & pretty much Stallworth. I guess that's how you play them, pick 2 guys make the 3rd guy beat you. The next team should shut down Moss & Welker & try & see if Stallworth can do it. I still don't understand NE running game, I though Mulroney was pretty good!? Why didn't he play, is he hurt or just bad.

Who would have believed this would be a game!?
I did, read my post from earlier today
NE is good, but not unbeatable. Eagles are playing with a 3rd string safety. I'm not making excuses but their game plan TOTALLY shut down Moss & NE. Welker ended up beating us but a 3 point loss to a 5-6 team isn't worth knighting them as the "greatest team ever"?! Did anyone else notice NE had no running game whatsoever? Wonder what that was about but if Belicheck gives up on Mulroney & the running game before December that's a mistake. They were too one-dimensional tonight & that played into the Eagles hands by not even having to worry about the run. Why they chose to do that was moronic, if they keep that up among Balt, Pitt & NYG, they will lose at least once.

Its too bad that game is going to be on NFL Network. I would really like to see it, but we dont get that channel. It pisses me off that the NFL does that. You would think that they would want it to get the most ratings possible, but instead they use it to prop up their fucking channel.
Yeah the NFL Network is annoying, they cause these problems themselves. They're asking for fee's from the cable companies higher than channels like MTV & CNN??! Something like over $1.00 per household whereas MTV & CNN etc charge only like $.80 or so (They make their money off ad sales). The Big Ten football is trying this too, what's worse is they want it across the whole country, NOT just the Big Ten states. So an SEC fan in Tennessee is really going to want to see Ohio St play Perdue??

I am really not looking forward to Sunday night.
I am. Any given Sunday. Plus I hope TKO's gonna go ballistic on Brady. I hope the Eagles do some damage & put up a good fight. The spread doesn't mean shit. Only means gamblers have always been betting NE that the spread is always sliding, so this week they opened it with something ridiculous hoping gamblers actually bet AGAINST NE. It's not indicative of the two teams. People think McNabb being out is a problem, but AJ Feeley is something like 9-1 with the Eagles. Add in Garcia our backups are like 14-2 under Andy Reid. With almost all games having playoff implications. Also we tend to run the ball more with backups, so Westbrook & Buck with be in the gameplan bigtime. We'll see if NE's old ass linebackers can keep up. I hope somebody gets knocked the fuck out tonight!!!
It's on tonight!!
