#671 Re: Guns N' Roses » Slash & Conspirators NEW album Living the Dream » 412 weeks ago
In 1993 "Living the Dream" would have been an ironic title with the songs all about the sleazy underbelly of hollywood life - music like "Neither Can I " and "Soma City Ward" on snakepit 1.
These days in 2018 it's probably going to be an album about vegan yoga....but musically it sounded great so i'm excited!

the first part actually might be heart and not home
so my heart just a world away, then something slip away
Really got me into thinking about this.
I think it's "I slipped away" - I can hear a D sound in slipped.
I also don't think it's "a world" but "another".
And i'm not entirely sure it's "my" either.
So i'm at:
Your/my heart just another (something), I slipped away.
Am i nuts?

speaking of the cartoons, is there more? I have Axl and Buckethead at McDougals (2004-10-03 by Camp Chaos) and also I think one or two MTV Celebrity Deathmatch episodes, but that's it
This one was my favourite:
It's a parody of the 2008 reunion rumours and the crew behind it had obviously read Duff's blog about Fart Tennis on tour with loaded : http://archive.seattleweekly.com/home/9 … uffmckagan

Yeah i think Axl explicitly said Sorry isn't about Slash and also that there's no such concept to him as "The Fans".
But then what is it about, it seems very well placed as a reply to the types of things you read about axl in the media, forums and from fans.
As for prostitute I suspect there's a bit of relationship in there too but there seems to at least be some reunion analogy there or how else would Axl be asked to prostitute himself? By touring or releasing songs I guess? Who knows.
But given everyone seems to end up suing Axl - I think he could still bust it out even though his legal troubles with Slash and Duff are over.
Afterall - double talking jive seemed to be dedicated to many people over the years.

You wonder who's sweet hangover he was talking about.
yeah but if he can play sorry and prostitute in the current era he can play anything surely.

What frustrates me is how Jarmo was rewarded for that behaviour.
Like I actually have nothing personal against him, but he did spend years bashing Slash, and actively aliening the type of fans who are now the band's audience during this reunion. It's one thing if he just wanted to toe the company line but he was over the top in being rude to both Slash and the fan base. I mean how is it now that "our hero" is back in the band - Jarmo is still touring thr world on Axl's dime.
Good luck to him I guess, but I just hate to see people act like that to others and get rewarded for it.
As for Bono coming back here - he was banned a few years back.
#678 Re: Guns N' Roses » someone needs to mix the studio silkworms with the remixed version lol » 413 weeks ago
It's weird in 2001 live it's for sure "Demon" and "Broken Heart" but it does sound different here.
More like "parasitic semen" and the "broken heart" almost sounds like "inside the ass" if you say it as "arse" in axl's down on the farm voice hahahah

Matt originally picked out Robin as a good fill for the rhythm spot...that would have worked imo - he could have still done the occasional lead line or something on new songs - but he wasn't really suited for Slash duties.
It would have been interesting to have Robin on rhythm and Bucket on all leads. Although even then - I love and respect bucket's playing but his style and technique again isn't really suited to the old GNR catalogue. He has the chops to play anything but the way he plays is so avant garde that he isn't a logical choice to front a classic rock aerosmith/stones style band like GNR.
I know that's because Axl wanted to change the sound - but then that didn't really happen. Aside from Silkworms, Riad and a few other tracks (which I like) most of the time the band played AFD stuff. If that was going to be the case it would have made more sense to go with a monster classic rock player like Aldrich to try and replicate slash.
Sometimes I think CD would have been interesting as a side project. Imagine the GNR name was owned by the AFD guys. Then in the same way Slash did snakepit cos they couldn't agree, Axl could have run off and made CD as a sideproject - free to do as much synth and non-traditonal gnr sounds as he liked complete with bucket and the whole 2001 circus vibe - toured clubs for a year like snakepit - they they could have regrouped GNR and made some new projects artistically. Different universe I guess.
I actually love CD, but its weird to me that these 15 songs seem to have dominated 30 years of Axl's life or something. it's why i'd like to see them move on and do a new album. It's kinda weird this long after we're still doing remixes and still considering these songs new. It's weird that there's never anything truely new.
That said - the clip of Axl on the TIL remix is insane...makes u wonder what else is in the vault....such amazing rasp...it's killer...better than the released version IMO.

As far as OMG...I think the bucket solo in the middle was cool...but the disco beat thing and funk guitar he's added over the bridge ruins the song to me...it would be cool as its own thing in some other song but it sounds totally out of place in OMG and it doesn't even remotely fit the lyrical theme happening at the same time...
Think i'll stick to the released version.
