#681 Re: The Sunset Strip » Nick Sterling out of Sebastian Bach Band? » 717 weeks ago
Remember those old PSA's, where the father catches the kid with drugs and says "Where did you learn about this stuff!?" And the kid says "I learned it from watching YOU!"
Literally every young replacement player these older acts hire on could say the same thing.

Agreed about just giving him the boot. Nick's stupid if he thinks he's irreplaceable.
On the other hand, it's got to KIND of suck to break into rock and roll, but into a band that's already been through the partying, addiction and recovery multiple times. Drinking on stage!!! Oh my, the mere thought gives me the vapors!
#683 Re: The Sunset Strip » The Monkees Discussion » 717 weeks ago
What the fucking fuck? As a Monkees fan, all I can say is AAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
I'd still love to see it, but damn Nesmith, you couldn't have done this a few years ago?

The pic is no big deal. The inane social media isn't even anymore, it's just par for the course. We all need to recalibrate our expectations- this ship is dead in the water.

That is SO country.

(There were no country fingers- not even sure what that would look like.)

I think all those guys (minus Baz) were on that Monsters of Rock tour that your video came from. I was sorely tempted, but couldn't justify it. Not a bug fan of Enuff either, but one of em (Chip?) used to be on Stern and seems like a cool guy. Probably in conjuction with Adler's Appetite though.

Dude! Have a great time! Keifer's voice has taken a beating, but he seems to be compensating pretty well. You'll hear how he trails off low instead of going for high notes, but the dude's had multiple blow-outs and surgeries on his vocal cords, so all in all, he's sounds great.
You know how I am with them, but Tom is the total package- singer/songwriter/lead guitarist. Totally underrated.
Bach and Cinderella is an awesome lineup.

Question for all you real guitarists: could you tell from listening to the final mix which are the rhythm and lead parts? I was surprised at some of the parts Izzy was playing, so just curious.

smoke wrote:Grohl IS better than Cobain. Morbid as it is, I sometimes wonder if Grohl would have ever reached his potential if Kurt hadn't died. And not just The Foos. All of his side projects guesting and producing for others, The Crooked Vultures... Would he have had his fingers in so many pies if Nirvana was an ongoing concern? Don't know.
I was going to say that Cobain wasn't even the most talented in Nirvana, but I was trying not to be too disrespectful to the Cobain lovers.
And like you, I don't mean any disrespect either. I like Cobain. It's just that literally NO ONE had any idea at the time of what a friggin juggernaut Grohl was, other than being a beast on the drums. That really only came about well after his death. Well after the first Foos album, too.

Of course, and in my opinion, that should be a given. But I also think sometimes we have to consciously try to separate our personal tastes in order to be as "objective" as is possible in matter like these.
That's why people can say, for example, Billy Joel belongs in the mix, even if they don't personally like him.
