Had Trump come out the gates pro-mask, the other side would've been anti-mask....or do you really believe countless millions who hate him would have all of a sudden started supporting his stance?
Our hyper-partisan culture played a big role in this nightmare.
Yes, because he would have had people like Fauci and Blix behind him as support who could explain why wearing a mask would reduce the spread. This one is on Trump and Trump alone. He chose to not wear a mask/that tact. Even Mitch McConnell said at some point in the summer "wear a mask, social distance". Wearing a mask is not a partisan issue at all. Trump chose that hill to die on, he'll own it and blame no one else.
As far as the lockdown thing goes, the USA is just full of selfish idiots. And LOL at Randall's post, so full of inaccuracies.

I see your point but....
There's only so much room at the top. If Bret never leaves and/or Michaels doesn't get injured, the 98-99 period is completely different.
Somebody drops down the card...or goes to ECW or WCW.
The same applies with Pillman.
That was a red hot feud on the horizon. If it takes off, someone gets squeezed out. They drop down to the IC title picture or lower.
The Rock only enters the stratosphere because he saw his opportunity and stepped up to the plate. I'm not doubting his ability. With Pillman in the equation, the window is smaller to jump through.
Mankind and Undertaker a great feud. He can still have that feud with Pillman around. He just wouldn't be in the world title picture during that time.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm wondering how long a Pillman-Austin feud really would've lasted. Just because both guys are playing their A game doesn't necessarily mean it's a long program. Things can go wrong. Pillman could tire of it. He could jump feds again. He could want a feud with Rock or go hardcore with Foley or Funk.
He really was a loose cannon....and loved living up to that name.
Pillman not dying is a great "What if?", that's for sure.
Triple H married the boss's daughter within a few years
I'm only talking about the late 97-99 period when Austin/WWF is a huge craze.
Pillman was not a long term player or solution to any problems. You'd get one or two red hot angles out of him and then he's probably gone....or dies at a later date than he did.
I think Triple H is the guy that gets squeezed to be honest. Back to Pillman, it would have been fascinating to see if he would have been in the Corporation stable as one of the guys who would have tried to bring down Austin. The other problem is that Pillman was falling apart physically and really couldn't do much.
Also at the point where he died, he was moved down the card, I think he was feuding with Goldust. I don't think at that point (late 97-early 98) things change much.
The big what if (from that period) that always gets me is a possible Rick Rude return to WWF and a short term feud with Austin in 99. That was the big rumor around the time of his death.

As far as Miike Videodrome goes....he could update it using social media, viral footage, and memetic engineering.
Throw it in our faces Visitor Q style.
This sounds like a modernized version of One Missed Call (Japanese version) which sounds pretty interesting to me. Speaking of in your face Miike movies, Lesson of the Evil is another one. It's like uber violent and will never be re-made probably. Because it sort hits multiple taboos that people in this country would find too shocking.
Winona....
That's the basic story. A couple mediocre films and bombs combined with the shoplifting scandal and she never recovered.
I think she probably refused to sleep with one or several big shots and she was phased out of the A list.
She was expecting to be one of the major stars. Hell...she started her own production company at 19.
I tend to lean toward this theory only because she kinda flamed out her 20s. It wasn't like she got pigeonholed into roles. You can tell which actress sleeps with the bigwigs (yeah, I know it's un PC but it's the truth) by how many movies that person had that came out in one year or so. That Danish actress Vikander had like 4 or 5 films that came out in one year.

Oh wow gateway pundit...fantastic source
This is the party/group of people that believes Hiliary Clinton had Vince Foster killed/pizzagate and other assorted hilarious bullshit. So I'm going to go with false on this given the history.

A real shame. Up until 1990, her career was skyrocketing. You can watch movies like No Way Out, The Boost, etc and see a major star in the making.
Then it was over.
Speaking of actresses headed to the stratosphere and the mission aborts, I've always wondered what really happened with Winona Ryder. I know the official story but it doesn't add up.
No Way Out was a great 80s film to me. It has almost everything I want---chase scenes, deception, pretty good plotting and characters.
What exactly was the "official story"? I just assumed she lost the helium/hollywood push when she starred in a few 90s disappointments like the Crucible. And the shoplifting thing kind of made her a pariah (kind undeserved and hypocritical as there are far worse pervs in Hollywood).
There's another thing that's always bothered me about Hollywood...remakes. Now they are re-imagining blockbusters from the 80s and the 90s which is probably even lazier.
I'd prefer they start remaking more obscure films from that era. It would also bring more attention to the originals.
But it's all about branding nowadays.
The Burning
Happy Birthday To MeDo something with those.
Speaking of Hollywood remakes and Mike...
Let him remake Videodrome.
Depends. Do you really want some hack remaking Spookies (just bringing up some really random 80s obscure horror film)? Or do these films really need to be remade? With the numerous streaming or downloading options almost all obscure films hit the "scene" at some point.
Miike and Videodrome would be really interesting. He'd have to reign in the violence a bit. But it could be done. Did you watch Chan Wook Park's Stoker. It's his only Hollywood film at this point. It's a really well made and has his usual style and energy.

He was terrible at everything...especially the pandemic.

He IS white entitlement.
I’ll add to this...do you remember how his campaign began? Questioning Obama’s birth certificate.
It really tells you everything you’ll ever need to know about Trump and his supporters.
Racist to the core.
Nobody really knows where he was born. It’s not like he would know and his mom and is dead and his birth certificate is a reissued copy. That said I assume he was born in the US and even if he was not his mom is a US citizen and he won the election so who cares. Ted Cruz wasn’t born in the US yet ran for president.
Holy shit, are you REALLY this dumb? The state of Hawaii released his fucking birth certificate like a decade ago. Yeah, but go ahead and trust your conspiracy theories.

Seriously, quit deflecting. You were the one bragging about how they filed this lawsuit to the Supreme Court. Now they got bitchslapped hard.
All 9 justices DENIED this motion. The 2 conservatives wanted it to be filed but said they would not grant any other relief. You are the one always complaining about this election being "rigged".
anyway since someone mentioned him McConnell is almost as big a threat and jackass as Trump. He is the one holding up coronavirus relief. Even Trump (for his own reasons) wants to pass a relief bill. McConnell been the one screwing up this the entire time.

.are you saying the media should’ve paid him no attention and then be accused of censorship?
There's a difference between censoring someone and obsessing over them 24/7.
No attempt was ever made at a middle ground.
If you believe it would be censoring him, that means every president before Trump was censored.
Trump is who he is. It does not change.
I didn't mean he would've changed personalities with a different approach. He's always been abrasive...even in the happy go lucky days of the 80s.
Had he been treated as a normal president day one, he could've adapted to the environment and morphed into a more presidential role.
He was never given this opportunity. It was full blown faux outrage from jump street and his WWF heel type character lashed out adding fuel to the arson underway and this set in motion the feedback loop that engulfed the entire nation.
A shit show? Sure....but there's varying degrees of shit.
The media went all in on chaos day one pushing outrage for clicks and entertainment.
I'm not excusing his handling of the presidency. I'm just not letting the media off the hook. Without them, none of this ever happens.
All presidents deal with similar amounts of media coverage.
That's not true.
Modern presidential coverage....
5 minutes on the evening news....10 if there's a major scandal(Lewinsky)
Couple segments on the hour news shows on CNN, MSNBC, FOX, etc. then they move on to other topics
Newspaper headlines
Online coverage restricted to news sites, political forums, news youtube channels
It started spreading out to other areas during the 2nd term of Obama's presidency. Once the Trump era got underway, everything became Trump world. News programs talking about nothing but Trump, social media drowning in Trump discussion, and any website no matter what the topic, Trump discussion.
Trump world even took over people's lives. Trump derangement syndrome is real. His lovers and haters. Friendships and families torn apart over this madness. If anyone so much as farts, everyone has to know if they're a Trumper so they know how to react.
Trump coverage can't be compared to anything that came before it. There is the pre-Trump world....and then there's Trump world. You can easily draw a line between the two. The contrast is that noticeable.
The coming months are going to be very interesting. Millions of Trump addicts worldwide are about to be deprived of their drug. I can't wait to see how the media changes focus...and how they do it.
Barr did what others would not, that is commendable
How is it a travesty for the media to cover it up but it's commendable for the one guy who could do something about it to cover it up?
Pretzel logic.
This is why our country is broken... likely beyond repair....and we drown in corruption.
There has to be a partisan slant on everything....and various levels of hypocrisy throughout.
Neither side truly wants it investigated. No offense but you're a great example why. You were out for blood until finding out Barr buried it.
This socially engineered, hyper-partisan trench warfare the general public fights in the name of politicians who care nothing for them is the ruination of this country.
Which leads to....
gotta get that revenge right? i hope they block every single Biden appointee...it'll work out well for them
Good idea! And then in 2024 when the red team gets the presidency back, let's block those too!
Great things will be achieved.
No one cares anymore about actually doing anything productive.
It's all a game now....and the elites laugh at our stupidity behind closed doors.
Good to see Susan Rice being nominated
Ugh. This is why I had to hold my nose tightly when voting for Biden. I had a feeling the blue team crowd of corrupt dipshits would be moving in.
It's musical chairs at this point.
I still don't think he had/has in it him to be a more presidential and adaptable really. His tactics have never really changed through time. OK the changing media coverage is far more interesting to me. Trump didn't help with his constant barrage of tweets, but it just speaks to the modern "coverage" of just going over everything at the point of overkill. So I kinda agree after reading what you said. I mean Trump didn't help but I put the blame less on him than other things. Also, as previously mentioned some of his supporters are insane.
What does Hunter Biden have to do with anything. He is not going to be president of the US now.
Oh that laughable lawsuit by the Texas AG got slapped down by the Supreme Court 9-0.

Yeah, calling someone else a liar and supporting Trump, who LIES ALL THE TIME, is just mind boggling.
At least he will have a fvcking press conference. Biden only takes softball questions.
I have no idea what that has to do with the topic at all.
All 50 states have now certified their election results. Biden will finally be certified as the President.

That sucks...RIP
I know he was the bad guy in the "No Holds Barred" movie...but did his wrestling career ever go anywhere?
I think after he had the 1989 WWF feud with Hogan. He returned in WCW as Z Gangster or whatever and had another feud with Hogan. I forgot whether or not this was pre-NWO.
