#61 Re: The Sunset Strip » Taylor Swift Discussion » 662 weeks ago

I have a few problems with Taylor Swift....

First of all, she's not fucking "country."  She's pop.  But yet she still gets away with branding herself as country when the song is dubstep with auto tuned vocals.  Some people are so stupid she could probably come out with a rap album and there would be some who would still call it "country."

Second, how in the fuck does this woman retain her "good girl" image?  She changes boyfriends quicker than most people change their underwear.  Do her fans really think she doesn't fuck any of the guys she dates?

Third, her songs all sound the same.  She's either happy and in love, or she's in a break up and sad or angry at the guy.  How is she seen as someone who is highly creative?  She writes the same few songs over and over.

Sorry, had to rant.  I work in a place that decides to assault us with this bullshit over the PA system every damn day.

DO NOT get me started on that stupid "love you like a love song" piece of shit.

Bones of Birds is fucking killer. This album is going to be epic. They are still progressing. One of the main things I love about SG is the fact that no album sounds like any other. When I first heard about the SG reunion/upcoming album, I was hoping for the progression that looked to be coming with what was one of their last recorded songs( Karaoke). For the couple people who may not have heard it....

That is a killer tune. Haven't heard it before. By the way awesome new name dude.

Bones of Birds sounds tasty. Haven't paid much attention to the new SG. The song on the radio is alright. I should pay a little more attention. Someone did tell me I had Chris Cornell hair over the weekend 16

I'll prolly pick it up when it is released.

BLS, I know you've always hated that grunge era but you should really give SG another chance. You're a hardcore metal fan so you should definitely check out the albums Ultramega OK and Badmotorfinger. Those two albums are as close to "real metal" as it gets in their discography.

Here's a few songs from Ultramega OK.  If you like them, download the whole album.

One of my favorite SG tunes. For the record, that is an unreleased demo. It REALLY shows the quality of their albums when they have unreleased material like that in their vaults. Here's another song that showed up as a B side that is top notch quality and one of THE best songs from the Superunknown sessions that they didn't put on the album. I was hoping an updated version of this track would be on the album but its not going to be. When the rarities box set comes out at some point, I'll be drooling for either a rerecorded version or just the demo being polished up.

Both those songs are incredible.  The quality of their unreleased songs are better than anything new bands are coming out with now.

I really hope after this album drops they decide to finally release a box set of a bunch of unreleased tracks.

Track by track reviews and Kim talking about it make it sound very promising.

After listening to both Been Away Too Long and Live to Rise a lot and fully digesting them both, I agree with James, Live to Rise is far superior.  To me it sounds more like SG should sound than BATL.  Both are good songs though, I've just found myself wanting to hear that one more often.

So open subject here. Does age matter when it comes to dating or is it just a number?  What if any is an appropriate age gap between two people or is it all fair game? I remember a few weeks ago some of us(myself included) frowned upon 50 year old Axl Rose hanging with 18,19,20 year olds. Now suddenly I find myself in similar(though not as extreme) situation. Plus Axl was likely just banging chicks 14 I'm legit interested in this girl.

the last 3 weeks I've been spending a lot of time with a young woman. She just turned 20 last week. I turn 35 in December. Now believe me this isn't anything I went looking for. I've never dated anyone more than 6 years younger than me so 15 years is a huge jump 16  Her and I just randomly met in a coffee shop(how cute hollywoodish) and had an instant connection We've hung out 13/19 days since meeting. That's a LOT and people don't do that unless they are interested in each other. At least that's what I would think. Now let me be clear we are not "dating" at the moment. Nothing physical has happend between us in terms of sexual stuff. Although all the flirty touchy stuff takes place minus holding hands(that's for couples).  There is without question huge chemistry between us and the age difference doesn't seem to exist when we're together other than inside my own head. Mostly wondering what she thinks since I've kinda decided I'm ok with it.

15 years is a big difference and in reality probably creates too many differences down the line for a serious relationship to work. But it would be crazy not to pursue something that feels like a great fit because of what might not happen. I don't know. In a normal situation I'd have made a move by now but with the age difference I'm hesitant. Also add into it I'm new to town and she is in essence the only friend I have so far I'm legitimately worried about making that move and losing a friend. Although everything in my being tells me she wants me to. Still it's such uncharted territiory for me. I've messed around with women up to 11 years younger than me but have never been genuinely interested in them so this is new.

Anyways give your thoughts on this topic. Not necessarily my situation directly but what you think of age in relationships overall.

I didn't read your post, sorry, but I will answer your question.

The answer is yes.  Short and simple.

The longer answer isn't much more complicated.  Yes age matters.  It is not just a number.  Older people are more likely to be mature, secure in their lives, have more experience, have much more solid expectations, know better how to be in a committed relationship etc.  There's also societal reasons but we will ignore those.

But should you meet someone, older or younger, that you click with, go for it.  If you have similar outlooks, dreams, wants, are able to fulfill each others needs, can communicate and love each other, why the hell not go for it?  Fuck what anyone else thinks.

Another thing I have been worrying about- Kim's guitars being put in the background again.  I'm really hoping he's better represented on this album than he was on DotU.  Been Away Too Long doesn't really let him shine through.

I'm not talking about lyrics specifically (although I don't think the lyrics in those two tracks are as dark as the rest of the album), but musically they're both upbeat rock songs, as is Been Away Too Long. You can't deny that.

Vocals aren't part of the music? 16

I can see where you are coming from, but I think that's an incomplete approach.  You can't quite separate the lyrics and the music in such a way.

My Wave and Superunknown are much darker songs.

I think Been Away Too Long is a cool thought and yes, they have been away too long, but it comes off flat based on expectations.  It's more standard rock radio fare than I would have hoped from Soundgarden.

But that's not to say the album won't be good, as singles aren't exactly representative of their albums as a whole.  It is nice to have them back though, they certainly have been away too long.

The more I listen to it the more I realize this is nothing compared to Cochise.  In comparison, it's actually a disappointing lead single.  LTR was not actually a single from the album so I won't include that.

The more I listen the harder time I have of picking between this and LTR.  At first I thought it was better, but it's not holding my attention that well.

#68 Re: The Sunset Strip » Rolling Stones Discussion (US Tour Announced!) » 664 weeks ago

Instantly went to buy this.  BLS said it right.  These guys are ancient and kicking way more ass than the current generation.  And they did it with ONE new song.

Hopefully they have one final album in them.  We honestly can't expect much more with their age.

I wish you would have been here too. Was wondering what happened to you. With Soundgarden getting active again I immediately noticed your absence. I needed some SG votes when I went upo against Buzz in round 1 of this.

I haven't been around much at all.  I lurk from time to time, mostly logged out though.

I've tried coming on more often.  I have shortcuts set for it on each device.  16

Is there any place you can download it as a traditional MP3?

Buy it from Amazon when it's released tomorrow.  This is a leak from a station in Seattle jumping the gun and playing it this morning.

No idea why they put it in this format instead of mp3.

Your other option is download, put in iTunes, and create and mp3 version.

Or download a free audio converter.
