I wonder what marc canter did wrong? All the public talking about GNR? They seem to prefer to keep everything secret for some reason. Or perhaps it was something else - who knows. But he did talk alot on My Gnr....
As for the "Something" comment....I think what can he say really? Like we know Axl has said in the past that one day he wants to release something else, and we know they have unreleased songs. It's not really his place to come out and contradict Axl and say that nothing will ever happen - as Axl decides to do things unexpectedly - like the whole reunion - so he can't for sure say it won't even if they have no plans at the moment - meanwhile he also can't be too optimistic or it will get our expectations flowing that something will happen soon...when there's every chance it's not even actively being worked on until after the tours etc. So yeah....I think this is why he just gives cryptic answers - because he doesn't really have the authority to say what they will or won't do and almost any answer will be the wrong answer.

It was already re-recorded since rio. So there's already a bumblefoot era version thats a bit different.
It changed the chorus section and although its still electronic sounding in the way of all the CD era songs its WAY more guitar based than that rio synth version.
My opinion is that although you wouldn't know it from that rio performance, the underlying guitar riff is actually quite rock based, I think if Slash re-recorded it - then it would end up sounding a lot like a Led Zep kinda song - almost like something like "Whole Lotta Love". I know that sounds worlds away from what you posted - but the way he "rocked up" the Chinese Democracy riffs could be applied very easily to the more recent versions of Silkworms.

Sorum...I just feel he makes it all lock together in a cohesive way.
Like Slash, Duff and Matt....they just operate well together in a unit....worked in VR too even though they were going for a different style there.
I enjoy the reunion band too...but like in something like these 93 shows...you just feel like the band is working together as one unit....but it doesn't feel like that with the current line up to me...even though they do some cool stuff.

It's worrying where this sort of thing can lead.
Like essentially the concept seems to be that if someone does something objectionable in real life or is accused of something improper then we should immediately hide all their other works from the public.
It's particularly awkward if the crime accused has no relationship to the actual art work.
So hypothetically if Steven Spielberg was to have some kind of breakdown and murder a relative tonight - do we delete ET and Jurassic Park and Schindler's List from existence? Where would you draw the line at what needs to go and what doesn't.
I see this type of censorship as having some logical problems. Like punish the people if they have done something bad, and possibly remove art if its related to the actual crime is one thing, but deciding to remove anything a person as done because of a disconnected incident doesn't make a lot of sense.

One thing I notice is it sounds a lot more finished performance wise than the other release. Not the mixing - the actual performance seems more crafted.
Like if you listen to the 1991 CD version (LALD CD single B side) - the B side version was faster, Axl does a bit more of his UYI style voice at the end (putting angry/evil emphasis on certain words etc) - but the general feel of the track is a lot more like a live recording. Slash's solo seems to almost start late like would live as he hoisted up his guitar or ran into position or something....and it feels more improvised.
This 2018/1986 version is a lot more polished. Perhaps it's just all the modern EQing - or maybe they spent longer on it in the 86 recording session than in the one they used for the 91 single - like did more takes.
So I can see why people feel its re-recorded - it's like it's suddenly a really high quality detailed take similar to an AFD cut - when every other version of the song in existence had a sloppy fun rushed feel.
But I think it's old just cos I don't think Axl sounds like that now. So I think if they've done any tampering - it's at least the original vocals IMO.

so who the fuck is actually buying the locked n' loaded edition? the most hardcore of hardcore fans are scoffing at that $1,000 price tag.
yeah I mean I would like it in a perfect world....but in Australia that's $1400AUD.
To put that in context....Australia is 9,429 Mi from the USA....yet for less than the locked and loaded box set.....

I absolutely want an AFD remaster so I will buy some form, but that box set, I will pay a lot for GNR stuff but at that kinda price it's like they've pushed it right out of the category of "entertainment spending" and into like "large life purchases" in my mind.

Adler just said it wasn’t him on a shadow of Your Love during an interview yesterday in Australia. Said Shadow and Reckless Life are pretty much the same song.
That's interesting. Do we know who it is then?
#718 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR.FM | Destruction Is Coming » 417 weeks ago
I believe shadow is 86.
At first i could see that the guitar parts sound like modern slash - but then its not really surprising that a guy sounds like himself - and when you consider that young slash did record all that AFD stuff - it's not like this was beyond his skill level.
As for Axl - it sounds more young Axl than modern to me. Although we've seen him smash out huge high screams recently on "Thunderstruck" and "Hells Bells" and so on - they do seem more scream based - it seems a long time since he's delivered this kinda sustained yet sung highnotes with a melody with the sort of breath control this song requires. I mean I guess he could do anything in the studio but it sounds like the kinda thing he was doing easily back in the day. Plus if you look at the live clip on youtube - this version is very similar - it's not the same take - but it IS the way he sang it back in 86 - so there's no real reason to assume it's not.
I think what we're hearing is some serious EQing - maybe a few modern protools effects and stuff in the mix - and modern mastering over it all.
But it does seem the original track is essentially an 86 performance. Maybe cleaned up a little or something, but for the most part original I suspect.
I just hope the main album sounds this good.

What I want is lossless audio and all the music...which means I guess i'm stuck with Super Deluxe.
However, I wish there was a way to buy the all CDs without all the posters and other stuff in the SD or LNL boxes.
If all you want is the music its such a brutal step up from $30AUD for 2 CDs to $270AUD for 4 - especially when the other disc is just the appetitte demos and the heartbreak hotel mixes essentially.
I think they should have had a 4 disc version stand alone. and then the collectors packs with all the added toys.
So yeah i'll probably get the 4 disc - although value for money is questionable when you look at how awesome for cheap money the 2 disc version is.

The locked it on mygnr when i suggested this - but I wonder if Axl is over weight due to medication.
If you look at when he started to get heavier, it's also around the same time he started to be able to come on stage on time, stopped over-reacting to show incidents, appeared to start taking things in good humour, then here we are a few years later and he even likes Slash again....
Could be wrong but given a lot of psychoactive medications cause weight gain it makes me wonder.
