Communist China wrote:I really don't get why people assume Ron could just take all of Robin's parts and everything would be fine. Robin deserves more respect than he's given, just because he doesn't care if Sweet Child sounds the way Slash played it doesn't mean anyone could just play all his solos on CD material without difficulty.
I feel that if if GNR can do the AFD heavy tours they have done with Robin playing Slash's parts, and I might add - playing them substantially different (better or worse than slash is down to prefrence) then I don't see why they couldn't do a CD heavy tour with someone else playing Robins parts. In theory.
I'm not bagging robin...but he isn't irreplacable. He plays a few nice solos on CD and has some stage presence...but those are things that could be replaced. As much as he doesnt seem to get a good rep around these parts - I feel Bumble has brought a lot more distinctive parts to the record - the "feel" of the CD rhythm parts, the solos on Shacklers and Riad...in terms of being able to reproduce the CD exactly...i'd notice bumble gone more than robin at this point.
Bucket back with Bumble would be incrediable just for the pure fire power...and i'd feel the same if any 'known' player like that joined like John 5 or Satch or someone too - just as I respect that much talent in one band...but I still feel that a tour with Axl, Bumble and whoever else isn't any less marketable than what they've been doing since bucket left.
I know they've done three tours already....but it would be different with the album out I think.
They wouldn't sell more tix even with CD out. The arena's would still be half empty. The only way that CD tour would be more successful is if Axl would have a hit song from the album or Azoff would have to pull a magic trick. And even Azoff can't pull this out without a reunion. Now if another album would be released and would be well received and would have a hit on it, then it's a different ball game. The album was poorly promoted and because of that another CD world tour would fail. Cause let's face it. People have seen that tour more than once.

I have no idea why anyone would buy this considering how many problems have been reported. I love vinyl and I'm staying a light year away from this. If you cant release a proper vinyl then don't release one at all.
I'm sorry to be out of the loop James. But what were the many problems reported for the vinyl?

Because you've heard a grand total of 5 new songs played live? Unless you got to hear Riad, Silkworms, or TWAT, which I highly doubt. So they could play 9 "new" songs, but that's not good enough? You've
been there, done that?
Trust me. If they do yet another CD world tour, they won't play more than 5 new old songs anyways. The rest will be from AFD and UYI. So yeah I'll stick to my been there don that. Silkworms they won't play cause it's NOT even on CD. Riad live I can live without. So the only song you named that would be worth it is TWAT which is not worth the tix prices, the 6 hours drive, gas, hotels, food for just one new song. Meh! But if they would release a new album full of new material by summer. Then it could be worth it.
Edit: Plus this time I'd have to count the huge money it would cost me to get a babysitter for my daughter.

without Robin or Bucket, at least one, I would have very little interest.
Actually without Robin would be nice. Nicer with Bucket though.

I knew when I read it, it had to be Del or a friend of his.
No Del piece is complete without a stab at the former band and the fans.
If I ever see Del write a piece or do an interview without taking a stab at Slash or any former GNR band members I will gladly kneel down and kiss his feet.

I rarely play my cds however. Like James mentioned he does, I myself make the mixes I want and then the cd goes back to its slot. In fact many of my cds are played only once or twice.
I wanted to place them in alphabetical order, but over 2000 it's kind of a drag. Like for example when I bought ACDC's latest, well it would've made a lot of cd's to move. So I numbered them and I made a list on Windows Access. And that list is in alphabetical order as well as numeral.
.Yeah, I had the same problem with the 1400 or so when I got a new cd and wanted to add one. What I did is took all my cds and arranged them in alphabetical order leaving a few spaces in certain areas I anticipated future purchases. I got REALLY tired of moving a bunch of cds to add a new one. Leaving room made it easy. At certain intervals (say every 50) I left four or five slots for cds I may not have anticipated, that way you aren't moving that many when you buy a new one.
Leaving 5 or 6 empty slots would work now, but a couple of years ago. Man those empty slots would've filled within a week and maybe more. And I'd never know what I would buy unless there was a big release.

I wanna buy some The Roots cd. I also wanna buy the old William Shatner album. That album sucks so bad that it's a must have. *lol*

And Neemo I kinda envy you. 250. Man it would be easy and clear a lot of space.
I had to take a separate insurance for my cd's. So it's not all good to have a large collection.

I've catalogued all my cd's cause I still buy them. I never download songs aside from the GNR leaks cause well let's just say I thought that was the only way I'd ever get to hear them. Anyways I just finished updating my catalogue and I've got 2116 cd's. And I've got all kinds of music. I wish I had more records though. I think I'm gonna start buying them since they're making a comeback.
