#751 Re: Guns N' Roses » GNR on 'Body of Lies' film soundtrack / confirmed by BP at CD.com » 920 weeks ago

I was seeing the flick anyway, as a fan of Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe. That DiCaprio fellow's proven his salt, too. Fellow paisano and all. Last time GN'R was rumored to have a "new" song appear in a Ridley Scott movie was the infamous re-worked Welcome to the Jungle/Black Hawk Down fiasco. Should be interesting to see how this plays out. This Best Buy "rumor" gains more ground every day.

It loaded right away for me.

I agree. I think the Illusions are in bad need of recertification. All those numbers are just lowball guesses though based on shipments counted by the RIAA. Most of AFD's sales were pre-SoundScan.

I like how they might even contemplate releasing an "anthology" of a band with three real albums worth of material.

The music industry backed themselves into a corner by underestimating the consumer and disrespecting traditional bricks and mortars record shops by so eagerly hopping into bed with conglomerates like Best Buy and Wal Mart. Since then, they have continued peddling what has always been an inferior physical product in the form of CDs, and have continued pricing themselves into irrelevance. The only physical product I've continued collecting these past few years is vinyl. Any new albums I picked up this year alone have been exclusively vinyl. No vinyl, no sale. I don't need CDs and I'm sure as hell not lining iTunes pockets.

I had dinner with Duff last night. He basically told me that his heart simply wasn't in this anymore and then he walked out. My point being, I have no point. This isn't about releasing an album on the tails of some magical reunion tour. It's about how do you rebuild something that got so big and replace virtually every member of the crew, every little thing?

It is this year.

There was Renny Harlin's studio financed recut, and then in limited release about a year later (and now available in the DVD box set) was Paul Schrader's original version. I'm talking about, of couse, Exorcist: The Beginning. Not a very good film by any version. I'm gonna have to agree, the sequels/prequels to this movie just didn't cut it. That is, save Exorcist III, which was really just an adaptation of Blatty's own Legion novel with heavy studio interference (making for an almost incomprehensible plot).
