Unless Axl's material that has been recorded, is the ownership of UMG as a GN'R production, I don't see why Axl couldn't reunite, and still release the CD sessions as solo albums, even as the reunion went on. Then when GN'R take a break from touring, like every other musician in the world, Axl could do some club shows to promote his albums, no different than Slash, Duff & Izzy would be doing elsewhere.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Then when they get comfortable enough, maybe they could collaborate on future albums as Guns N' Roses.

There's really no pressure involved artistically in a reunion. They all have solo outlets (with fans), and are marketable. Anything Axl wants to try, that isn't clicking with the rest of the band, he could always take full-throttle on his solo work. All of them have solo outlets, so nobody is going to sit back and judge either other, saying "you're not dedicated enough to GN'R". It's a new day. Axl's obviously not going to be an asshole (in 2008) to anyone in the band, who does solo projects. He's not that much of a nazi. Unlike James Hetfield, that for some reason decided to throw a perfectly fine bass player out of his band, just because he decided to do something in the down time.

Amen to that!  At least I'm not the only one that isn't hiding my head in the sand.

VR isn't a side project.

It is when you take it from the Joe Public's side.  And that's simple.  When people see Slash, Duff and Asshole oups Matt Sorum play with Weiland and some other guitarist, all Joe and Jill public is saying is that this is really close to being GNR so why can't they go get Izzy and Axl?  And the way VR is right now I'd say it was a side project.  tongue

And madagas.  I know Axl don't care¸what everybody thinks.  That's always been more than obvious.  But he needs to realise that the GNR name is of no value to him without those other guys.  As a matter of fact I think it would've done better if he had released CD under Axl Rose.  Sad but true.

People!  Chinese Democracy is not a failure!  It did just fine.  But I can tell you why it hasn't reached number 1 though and I predict that nobody will like the reasons.

The 1st reason that CD didn't reach no1 is simple.  People know that this is NOT a Guns N' Roses record.  It may say Guns N' Roses on the album but everybody knows that this is in reality an Axl Rose solo album.  So to those who say that the GNR name lost some value I'm not so sure about that.  Slash, Duff, Izzy and Axl's names have MAY have lost some value when they are solo but not necesarilly the GNR name.  And before I get accused of hating the album.  Just because CD is an Axl Rose solo album doesn't take anything away from it.  It's a very good record but people are tired of solo projects from those guys and side projects such as VR.

2nd reason it hasn't reached number 1 is the lack of promo and all the false starts from Axl.  This doesn't need further explanation as we've all said all that is to be said about this.

Now what does it take to bring GNR back on top.  It takes what even I do not want and that is a reunion.  GNR wether we like it or not is Axl, Izzy, Slash and Duff (the drummer can be either Popcorn or Asshole Sorum err Matt Sorum).  The new album other than Axl's voice does NOT sound like a GNR record, theres no need to lie to ourselves.  And the reason it doesn't sound like Guns N' Roses is simple.  When the Guns N' Roses songs were written on past albums one of the main music writers was Izzy and Slash and Duff contributed as well.  And when you had songs that were written by Axl well Izzy, Slash and Duff would play thoses songs like a Guns N' Roses song cause they were the ones that created their sound.  I'm not saying that the musicians on CD are not good.  They were all good and Bucket is perhaps an even better guitarist than Slash.  But Bucket has his style and fortunately it is different.  I know that I'll get flames for this post, but unfortunately I am right on this one.  Ask Nikki Sixx.  He's learned it the hard way.

Depends on how it will be handled.  Only time will tell who's right.  wink

I hope this is sorted out amicably, but that lawyers letter will definently ruffle a few feathers.

I don't get it.  This makes Axl Rose look good in my opinion.  He is sticking up to his fans.  I seriously fail to see how this can ruffle any feathers and make him look good.  And we all know I don't shy away of criticizing one Axl Rose.

Axl will give away the money, won't he? This case is motivated by attention seeking and anger. Nothing more, nothing less. BTW if Axl had time to battle with Dr. Pepper, he could have released a press release about his album. Instead.

I agree that he should've made a press release about his album.  But that's not the point.  The point here is that this can make him look good in the eyes of the general public.

No but I just think it could have been handled differently, especially at such an early stage. The chances of this ending amicably now, look like wishful thinking on my part.

I'm just completely sick of the BS surrounding this band, and this looks another chapter.

Oh I'm sick of the BS too, don't get me wrong.  But if Axl wins this it can give him a nice opportunity to redeem his image if handled well.  This will settle out of court.  I'd rather have an interview with Axl updating us on who is in the band and who's not but what can we do?

Also I don't think Axl has ever been afraid to ruffle anybody's feathers and you can respect that.

No no, ruffle a few feathers over at Dr Pepper.

Accusing them of "reckless indifference or complete stupidity", there will be people over there who will take umbridge at such remarks.

Well maybe they were.  It's clear now that they wanted to make a joke at the expense of Axl.  And now Axl has the laust laugh and Dr.Pepper don't like it.  Don't promise something you have no intention on delivering.  Saying that the free sodas would only be available for 24 hours was a lack of judgement and respect from Dr.Pepper.  Just my opinion.  Plus it sucked we couldn't get that offer in Canada so screw Dr.Pepper.  tongue

I suggest you check out Rush.  Neil Peart is anything but just an ordinary drummer.
