My friends came to visit this past weekend.  Their first time in Newfoundland!  We got them Screeched-In, fed them fish and chips and fries with dressing and gravy, and showed them how to drink Newfie style.

I usually correct people on that one.  I've heard both variations, actually (people saying could when they mean couldn't and vice versa) and people confuse them all the time.

I hate it when people say "same difference!"  What the fuck does that even mean?  Last I heard, contradictory statements didn't make sense.

And how about those people who put an s at the end of words that end in where?  "It's around here somewheres," they say.  "Wheres?"  I don't get it.  Where's makes sense as a contraction of "where is," as in "Where's Waldo?," but "wheres" isn't a frigging word.

He was needed there, that's for sure.  Kipper's not having a fantastic year and they didn't have a backup goalie.  This should take some of the pressure off.

Still waiting for the shit storm in Toronto.  Apparently, they've asked Cliff Fletcher to return as interim GM, meaning that they're getting ready to can Ferguson.  I think it's soon going to be a fire sale there.  Sundin, Tucker, McCabe, Kubina, Raycroft, and just about everyone else will be headed to other teams.  Sundin's a big possibility as a rental player, because I can see him wanting to return as a free agent in the offseason.  But Toronto needs to do something right away to shake up the team.  What are the owners waiting for?
