Thanks for posting atari...great find.... smile

Regarding the drum set up's my guess will be whomever plays the most songs will get his set up installed, and the other guy will have to "suck it up" a little and work with what's there. Although there's some posibility to add some stuff in the solo spots I doubt they'd mess around too much as it would lead to sound-check problems. Or maybe they'll go with a combination....like if one of the songs has a specific need for that drum then use that part of the kit as one players...but the rest as the other guys. I dobut it will be much of an issue...while I'm sure they have their custom set ups they prefer...i'd say guys at that level would be able to play on anything to a good standard.

As for the solos. I'm with neemo I think this video is "too early to call" - it's a rehersal, we don't know at what stage of rehersing, there's only short grabs of the solo, with some instruments missing. I just hope whoever learns the solo learns it from AFD not from the robin afd remake wink

I thought overall the verse guitar and stuff sounded pretty cool, all the little fills and stuff, and some of the lead playing had nice tone, so i'll reserve judgment till I see if they nail the melodies or not.

Pretty exciting...so there's still a month or so of rehersals planned at least then I guess we can gather from this vid.

Yeah...it's interesting that even in the face of Axl's harsh words of late they keep the same level of tact that they've pretty much always had. It's always felt to me as if they go to a lot of trouble to not say anything that would prohibit a reunion one day...which is really only common sence I guess....as let's face it...historically most bands in similar situations do eventually bury the hatchet to some extent.

It certainly seems that Axl is of a pretty firm mind it's not going to happen though. So unless he has a change of heart in latter years (which is always possible - people always grow and change as they get older). It does seem pretty unlikely.

Untill that day, I hope they find a new singer for VR that's totally awesome...there must be someone out there...imagine someone like Axl or Cornell or someone amazing like that...but brand new...would be so kickass....

I don't imply, I say.  I didn't say Axl didn't do them, I said if you want to be technical, we don't know it was really him.  How exactly do you know that Axl did the chats?  Because someone told you it was Axl?  I could type up an Axl rant at any time that would appear genuine...all I'd have to do is bash Slash mercilessly.

Well for one I thought the syntax and style of text was exact to the way he speaks in video and print interviews, but I guess that could be fake by someone very clever.

The thing is if it wasn't axl it would have to be someone operating with Axl's blessing...as the poster also managed to convince Jarmo who is in contact with GNR management that he was axl..and that hasn't been corrected. Somehow given his views on lies in the media I think Axl would tell jarmo to pull the thread if it were fake. Plus it was refrenced on the offical site. So it either has to be axl or at worst someone acting with his authority as his mouthpiece.

My point is that if you're going to grasp at straws by debating that an opinion accepted by 99.9%  of the people

What are we talking about exactly when you say that?  I don't deny there's a huge volume of people who want a reunion, or who prefer Slash to robin or anything like that. The only thing I'm denying is the concept that *everything* in GNR land is bad. Plenty of things go wrong all the time. But there are also some positive things.

By the way, my questioning of the "facts" from that website had NOTHING to do with the fact that it was posted online.  Go back and re-read what I said.

it was this phrase that confused me then:

buzzsaw wrote:

I could have a website up tomorrow with a fancy name saying whatever I wanted it to say.  I never said you made it up, I said I don't believe it.

I took that to be saying that it's fake - that you could make a fake site in 5 mins. If that's not what you ment then fair enough.  Anyway I accepted that data because it came from an offical site of a respectable organisation...if there is data from an equivilant orginisation that says the CD sold amounts so low that the band could never release a follow up (which was I think what we were discussing at the time but i could be wrong) then I would accept that as well.

I'm not one of those people who wants to make everything positive no matter what. I will call it as I see it. When the band does something fucked I'm happy to say so. But I also think that just as the crap should be told as it is, so when the band does do something positive, it should be given a bit of airtime too, and I think it was neemo who posted earlier in this thread a whole list of things that are positive. That's all i'm trying to say. There is good and bad - but so many people want to see just one or the other.

If you want to be technical, someone claiming to be Axl did the chats.  Nobody knows 100% without a doubt that it was him.  Almost everything is an opinion, but when it's an opinion shared by 99.9% of the earth's population, it becomes accepted as fact.  So by your definition, you are correct.  I just choose to accept the obvious opinion as fact, as do most people.  Usually it's the people grasping for straws that don't.

So let me get this straight...I'm grasping at straws...yet you are the one who claims that the sales data from the offical site of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry is untrustworthy simply by virture of it being published online, and now your implying that the axl chats are also falsified.

Yes there is some negative stuff with GNR, but your attempt to charactise everything as negative is just as insane as people on HTGTH who attempt to make everything positive IMO. The truth is somewhere in the middle of these polar extremes.

Just checked this out. It's worth a listen. Some interesting stuff

1. Duff said that, wittout wanting to disrespect scott, they all felt that VR has not yet recorded it's best album, like the album they have the potential to make together. (I strongly agree with this. I enjoyed the VR records...but I feel Slash and Duff and Matt have an awesome chemestry that can be pushed farther than those records).

2. That there has been some singers that he liked but that they need to all agree. They're looking for something great not just good.

3. He showed a lot of class by once again not running down either Axl or Scott when he was given an opening to discuss if they were difficult to work with.

4. He basicly said that when people tell him something is impossible is when he likes to get it done, and that people should not imply VR is all over.

It's got to be tough for adler though. Imagine being in the band that recorded appetitite and then getting thrown out - then watching them rise to the UYI level of success. I know he only has himself to blame for the drugs and whatever else. I'm just saying that's some hard shit to swallow...imagine the self loathing when you realised you fucked up that bad...Axl commented that he finds it hard to asscociate with him because in Steven's mind Axl holds the key to his happiness, and I'd say that's true....all steven wants in life is to go back to before he fucked up...and the sad thing is...i doubt he ever can. We can mock him for it. But it must be incredibily painful to live with.

^ Good post Axlino8....

I think the problem is a lot of us, on both sides of this discussion, are clamining what it really our opinion as fact.

Actually very little of our posts are fact. It is a fact that Axl did the chats. But after that is where the opinion kicks in:

One poster might enjoy that Axl has broken his silence and consider that a positive, another might dislike the talk about slash and consider it a negative.

It is a (rumoured) fact that Axl turned down $150m for the runion. The Fact ends and opinion begins:

One person sees that as a sign of his integrity that he wont change for money, another a sign of 'brat' type behaviour that he can't just move on.

We can do it all day.

The album is released. Fact. Some people see the lack of marketing as a squandered chance and feel the record did not meet their expectations from GNR. Others look at the figures and think that #14 worldwide even with no promo, and outselling other acts, is a good thing despite whatever else.

Now the point of this site is to read the opinions of people. But where we get into conflicts is when people, of both sides,  take the part of their posts that is an opinion and start saying it's a fact. Or that someone else is right or wrong about it because of the facts. Because it's not a fact they are refering to most of the time.

we all just need to chill and remember theres a lot of ways to look at any occurance.

What is being suggested is the obvious: the "negative" point of view is the reality of the situation.  Some people want to pretend otherwise, and that's fine.  More power to the monkeychows of the world.

Haha...the funny thing is I'm pretty much negative compared to places like HTGTH so it's wierd to me that you seem to think i'm a zellot or something.

For example I remember arguing with Jim Bob once when he was being pro-robin by doing what at the time I felt was anti-slash trolling, and he was saying that slash was just a hero of mine and I need to deal with him being gone, and I was asking him how he will react when Robin leaves...and sure enough...time passes and it happens.

what i'm saying is I try and be balanced...and I know it's comming across as a hardline positive dude at the moment...but that's because I honestly disagree with some of the more severe negative posts. To me the album wasn't a failure, it could have done better sure but that's not failing to me. But each to their own.

I'll admit I've got a lot more positive of late, as it cheered me up when the album came out, and i'm interested to see what it's like with DJ replacing robin as I had a lot of issues with the way robin played Slash's solos.

I don't think either side is pretending anything, but each person responds to things differently. There are some realities yeah - like I'll accept that most of the world wants a reunion or no GNR. I'll accept that GNR is always going to function strangely (people leaving, delays etc). Sure. But I disagree that the band is not going to ever make new music, is done and dead and those types of posts...as I feel they are overstating the negative side of things.

This board is about a non-existent band.

I think that's taking it a bit far smile

I mean we had a new album last year, an accouncment of a new guitarist only a few months back, and it seems rehersals are taking place with a view to a tour.

Things happen slow in GNR but they are happening...it's not like we're back to 04.

#7880 Re: Guns N' Roses » Where is the Better Video..? » 890 weeks ago

Not not saying your a bad buy rus, or buz...

Just that the negative side of things is only one side of the coin, just the way the positive side of things is.

My self I'm intetested to hear what DJ brings to the band, looking forward to a tour, and maybe one day in te future....another album.....

But I'm also expecting a lot pf problems, delays, changes... and other dramas.
