Let me know exactly how much money these "ongoing propositions" are receiving for their "selling less records than GNR just did" and you'll have an answer.  When you're done with that, let me know if there would even be a possibility for a next record if the label didn't release this one and the next one as Guns N' Roses.

Buzz..i'm not sure of the relevanceof what the band's personal cut of profits is, and that information isn't easily publicly availiable.

My point is that CD outsold a number of other bands 2008 releases, bands such as Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry. Would you consider those bands dead and finished now?

Sure..compared to massive acts like U2, or like the historical GNR, then  the numbers arn't good, but my point is these numbers are plenty enough to justifty future endevours.

You are accusing me and others of being a crazed fan boy. But this has nothing to do with my personal like of the band. I told you GNR sold #15 highest on the worldwide 2008 charts and you tell me that's not enough for future interest? It could be Billy Ray Cyrus or my Grandma who sold #15 and some record companies will be interested in the future. It's a crap result if you want to be the biggest band in the world, but if you want to be a viable band in the music industry it's more than enough. How could it not be? If 15th highest isn't what is? Only the top 10 bestsellers world wide get to make another album???

I have no problem with you being realist about certain issues and fighting against the fan-boy mentality that thinks axl is god come to save us. But in all fairness businesswise....this album wasn't the monster some hoped...but it's moved enough units to easily justify future albums.

The name issue you allude to doesn't seem relevant to me, other than it's another reason record companies will show continued interest, as a certain amount of sales would come from the name alone.

I'd be ok with the idea of an accoustic version...but by someone who can keep to the original melody would be nice....the original version is so pretty and it's all lost in this version.

Slate clean and Axl's new Gnr doesn't have any proven commercial draw.

Actually I think the CD sales show the band has commerical potential. They did NOTHING that they "should" have done by industry standards yet came up with reasonable sales figures.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's charts show Chinese democracy as 15th in the top 50 worldwide sales figures for 2008.

That this band has nothing like the sales power of a giant like U2 does not mean it is not a viable entity. There are a ton of bands that sell less records than GNR just did, yet are considered as ongoing propositions in the industry.

Sorry James, hate to burst your bubble, but the only reason why we got the Shackler's Revenge multi-track is that it was on the RB2 CD. The album is download only, and its impossible to get files off the 360 harddrive onto the computer.

Really? Surely there's dudes around that can hack that kind of shit or something though? I'm not one of them - that's for sure. But surely for some of the uber-nerds...what goes on can come off....like logically...if it can interface with any device at all...which it can...surely it can be made to behave...just with a skill level well above mine.

Yeah...maybe like how contraband had that re-release with the cool bonus disk with the covers and stuff. If they re-rereleased with new art, but also maybe a like 1 extra track or something to entice for people who already got the album to double dip, I can see it working.

Glad you're opening your mind to it Coma....I think it's such a shame when fans from both "sides" let the politics of the whole situation get in the way. I'm a massive fan of both VR and also the new-GNR. They're different beasts but there's so much talent in all of these guys it's amazing.

To me Axl is by far the best singer slash has worked with, but that said, Slash has more than enough talent to make good stuff on his own, just as Axl does without slash.

I saw VR from the front row on the contraband tour and it was fucking incrediable...so much cooler than it comes over on the records. My libertad shows (in austrlaia) got cancelled cos of the scott drama...so I'm hanging for them to get it on and put out some new stuff and blow me away again.

I'd love a guns tour down under aswell...saw 93 and 07 and they were great nights!

I havn't eaten meat since I was about 4 or something. But then I also don't eat a lot of other normal foods....I have an eating disorder where a lot of normal foods gross me out in ways that's hard to explain...but it's all cool cos I have a nutrionist now that's taught me how to eat enough variety to stay alive! But yeah...most foods i've never eaten wierd as that is.

But yeah...those chips....so awesome!!
