Rolling Stone also mentions the possibility of a November release for Democracy:

*Anything* that leads to Democracy coming out this year would be perfect. Man, I am so excited by all this "just under the surface" stuff (allegedly) happening, especially because I'm hearing more and more music at the weeks roll on, which can only be a good sign.
I stand by my previous post, though - I hope Best Buy steps up so no tracks need to be "switched," a.k.a. more delays.

the events of the last week have really changed the GNR landscape when it comes to the hoarding of information and material. the more fernando attacked me, the more people i had emailing in to say that they'd received songs from him in the past. the more azoff threatened journalists, the more people i had emailing in with stories their editors were prohibiting them from writing.
i've had to sit on this story a day or two longer than i would have liked as it took quite a bit of time to double source the facts. however, after speaking to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, mistersaintlaurent.com is pleased to report the following:
the current intended release date for CHINESE DEMOCRACY is november 25, 2008. it is azoff's strong preference that the release be done through best buy and not wal-mart. i've been told his reasoning is two-fold. #1, azoff's goal is to be able to create future bidding wars between the two retail giants for his other acts and feels best buy will lose interest in these type of promotions if they always lose out to wal-mart. #2, if he goes with wal-mart, he has to convince axl to swap a couple of tracks from volume 1 with tracks from the other volumes to avoid the dreaded parental advisory warning.
i was also told that the story was leaked by azoff to put pressure on best buy to up their offer and close the deal. it's no coincidence that this story hit right before wal-mart's AC/DC deal was finally publically announced. it is azoff's hope that fear of ending up with egg on their face will force best buy to roll out the red carpet in every imaginable way for chinese democracy.

mister@mistersaintlaurent.comI think this is great news.
*Anything* that points to Democracy being released is great news...I couldn't agree more. However, the part about "if he goes with wal-mart, he has to convince Axl to swap a couple of tracks from volume 1 with tracks from the other volumes?" *That* makes me nervous. No more delays, please...

Axl and the band need to move forward and forge their own musical identity, period, and releasing Chinese Democracy is the only way to do that. For a band that appears to desperately want to escape the specter of its past (and those members from its past), releasing anything other than new material would be a serious misstep at this point.

But "Sorry" is the track Bach claims he did vocals on, correct? I imagine his voice would be a tell-tale way to I.D. the song...

I really dig the song, and am so glad to hear "live" drums on the track. Too many of the CD songs are a little too heavy on the canned drums for my taste...

Man, I love the chorus, especially at the end. Good stuff.

I haven't watched the VMAs since....well, since GN'R closed the show. I'll probably be paying attention, but I sure as hell won't watch the whole thing.

That is great news. The movie certainly deserves the success and accolades it's generating. I'd really like to see a record-breaking weekend.
I'm still amazed at how it's elevated expectations for the superhero genre in general. Such a great and challenging film with complex themes and characterizations. I was almost certain the hype would have made it a disappointment, and I was quite happy to be wrong in this case. I'm anxious to see it a second time, and soon.
