I disagree with that assertion. Ledger has said he wasn't trying to copy Nicholson. Nicholson's Joker isn't the only nutjob performance in history, you know. Ledger was far more influenced by Alex from A Clockwork Orange (which came out 18 years before Batman '89) than anything else. He was also influenced by the Sex Pistols. I would argue that Jack's performance in The Shining was more influential on Ledger than Jack's work in Batman.
Yeah i dunno...i didn't mean he ripped off Nicholson....I feel that heath's joker was like an almagation of about 5 of 6 different film pshycos....all i ment was the delivery of the lines in places...to me it feels like part of the mix...is Jack...either in Batman or The Shining...or somewhere....

Ok...i'm going to assume you are on the level and add my thoughts:
1. You should never hit a girl...but that's already been covered. Although I will add that in these days of physically agressive women I'd feel that there are situations where it may be justified in self defence. If she only slapped you...not really cool...but if she was comming after you with a weapon or something that made her pysically able to fuck you up then self defence...
2. I doubt it was an accident. A person doesn't go into a bedroom and make out by accident. I guess she means she didn't conciously set out to hurt you in a premeditated way, and as much as a cow for cheating on you as she is, there is probably some truth to that.
3. As an old fart (31) I feel the urge to say this whole episode reaks of inpuse control problems and hormones. If you are 17 and 18 there is a lot going on in the body. Its easy for sex drive to get control without thinking at that age - which could explain why she might randomly kiss a hot guy even though she hadn't planned on it. And it can expain why an upsetting experience can fill you with enough rage to start assulting anyone around you. This isn't to say its an excuse for these things happening, but it is something to consider when looking back at it in years to come.
4. I immagine you feel like shit right now for three reasons. #1 There is the jail possibility, and that's not going to be fun. #2 You just got cheated on by your woman - and that sucks major ass and #3 I got the impression from this experience that you arn't too proud of what went down from your end either.
So i can only offer my support and say that I can relate to the emotional pain you must be in regardless of the corectness of your actions. The best thing that could come of this would be for you to take some time to review your own mind and how you respond to things. It's natural to be megga pissed at a partner's disloyality. And to an extent biologically we're programmed as men to respond in ways that arn't socially acceptable to such stimulus. And that's where the catch is - if you think it's something that could happen again - you are going to need to learn some coping skills so you don't end up hurting someone worse if something else happens one day - and of course fucking up your own life by doing hard time for other assults and stuff.
So i guess...making the best of a shit situtation....you've been pissed on by life today, and it sucked, and unfortunately your responce to the situation made it worse - although it's totally understandable how and why you felt that way, but if you can take something from today - then in the long run this could be a good event in your life - as you can learn other ways to deal with angst other than agression - and in the long run that will make you a better and happier person.
Well that's my 2c - it's only my opinion...so i'll understand if you tell me to go fuck myself!

So is this story true until the breakout into the theme from the Fresh Prince of Bel Air tv show...or are you just messing around? I'm confussed and will save further comment about the contents until I understand if you're playing around or serious!

I think heath is the best joker by far...but I also think, with all respect to him, his peformance borrowed the best bit's of Jack's 88 peformance and added to them. Heath took it a long way further, but at times his voice is so similar and elements of the way he plays it, all i'm saying is that it would have been a different TDK if the 89 film had never been made.

can someone explain the comparison of this album to the UYI disks please?
I think the idea is that AFD is an album full of rockers. Put the disk in and hit 'random' and you know you will get a 'rocker'.
UYI sees a more diverse range of songs...you have songs like YCBM that would have worked on AFD, then you have songs like Estranged or NR that are more epic in flavour or ballad baised. There is accoustic stuff like You Aint the First, or Full on guitar assaults like Don't Damn Me. Lots of great music in lots of great styles...but the point is....they arn't all the same flavour - unlike AFD.
In this regard CD is also more varied than AFD in terms of styles. There is are the long ballads again...TWAT...or Prostitute.....but there are rockers...CD...there is a slightly more industrial stuff like Riad..or Shackler....or songs that are somewhere in the middle like Better or Maddy and then something that sounds a bit like an awesome showtune in This I love...all great songs...but not all in the one style. Again....you hit random and you can't guarentee what kind of song will come out.
And that's why people consider CD to be more like UYI3 I think as they both feature diverse range of styles in the songs. If AFD was the orginal sound of the band, then UYI was an evolution into expanding generes, then CD is the continuation of that process.

yeah I get what people mean by going out on a high. And it makes sence to me in terms of like looking at their overall legacy kinda thing, i'm just saying if you consider that celbs are real people living lives with families and all that...then it's not really a nice thing.
I remember an interview with Axl many years ago where he said something about not wanting to sacrifice himself on the alter of rock and roll. And i think it holds true in his case - some would like it if he'd died back on the UYI tour - you'd have GNR at their highpoint of publicity - no breakup of the old band, no 15 year wait, no change of clothing style and all that, no reclusive behaviour. The media would have elevated him to perminant rock god status. But then you have to consider axl is a real dude...and why should he have to die so the media can play games like that, not to mention that he's made some great music since then that we would have missed.

Great post thanks...I'd never seen that. Funny the things they would ban back in the 80s considering what you can watch in a modern video clip!

I hope is ok too. Randall seems to be saying that he should die just for PR purposes or to make a great pattern for the fanbase who only get the best of his work that way, which is a little too de-humanising for me.

Great pic. I'm going to have to grab the illusions on vinyl...I don't have them yet.

I think both Jack and Heath were awesome. Jack was hindered by a much weaker script IMHO....the best thing about "The Dark Knight" is that it's clearly written by people who understand the characters - unlike all the other films. Although the production design in the 89 movie is awesome...those gothic buildings...that car....
