Ahh i thought I had an interview aroune 1993 where he said it was from plugging into Slash's amp during rehersal. Doesn't matter anyway - i'd believe cymbals as those are always brutal on the ears!

The real issue with Steven is whether they should have ditched him before UYI.
I wonder with proper rehab for a period then - and maybe Slash and Duff could have done with some too. If things would have been different.
Like the guy stayed a junkie for decades after, but it wouldn't have helped watching UYI happen without you when it's your childhood mate in the band.

Normally I wouldn't make much of social media following...but I have to say them adding him the same week that this rumour comes out is pretty huge.
Like all the clues fit GNR and not really any other classic rock act to the same extent. Then they happen to add a top 5 producer. It's a bit of a coincidence otherwise.

Thanks!
I think Jeff was due to appear at these shows but had to cancel due to Tinitus from Slash's rig.

My prediction: Chinese Democracy 2 with some retrospective title that's some kind of exclusive product, produced by Caram/Axl, this year.
Broadly I agree with most of your points. I suspect it might be a bit later though.
My timeline:
1. Band records now. Probably records some new jams as well as Slash and Duff putting down stuff on existing CD2 stuff. Some songs may be altered (similar to the way Slash and Duff re-jigged better).
2. European tour happens to close off NITL shows. Basically the existing tour. New stuff is mostly things like a new cover song or perhaps unplayed (this tour) CD cuts like Street of Dreams or something else from UYI. There's a possibility they shock everyone with a new song similar to Madagascar in 2001 but I think it's more likely in this era they'd hold fire on it and just do the NITL tour show.
3. Post the tour (4th Q this year) tinkering recording session. This is a chance to polish off anything that didn't get done before the shows and to alter the new material now it has sat with them for a while. Axl could finish off any vocal parts he wants to alter here too now everything else is basically in the can.
4. Jan- Feb 2019 - Album is mixed and mastered. Delivered to label who commences to warm up the hype machine for 2 or 3 months.
5. Summer (northern hemisphere) release and new huge tour commences in support.
So that's my guessed timeline - mid 2019 - later if absolutely anything goes wrong.
However I do agree that something will happen.

I remember this quote from Axl years back:
"In regard to so-called ‘perfectionism,’ I feel that has a lot to do with your goals or requirements with whatever one’s doing or creating… Generally, when this term is used by others in regard to me or how I work, it’s said in a negative way or as an excuse for their shortcomings — and again by my detractors."
I could imagine this plan suits everyone.
For Axl it's an independent umpire who can tell Slash that he has to make an effort to play on the softer ballads and slow numbers. For Slash it's someone to tell Axl that the vocals need to be done inside of 2 years. It's someone objective to say if the riffs are too cock rock or if the ballads are too broadway. It's an independent umpire to sort out any creative tensions, it's someone to inspire the best of you, and it's someone to carry the pressure of a reunion album that isn't in the band.

I think it depends on what your expectations are.
Will they release something that like Wyld Stallyns causes the planets to move into alignment and ushers in a new age of peace? Maybe not.
However the worst Axl song to my taste still has things about it I like.
The worst Slash release to my taste still has some pretty cool riffs and stuff.
They may not cure cancer but there's a fair bet that i'll like something about it.

That doesn't sound like Axl.
I thought that at first.
But then he seems to have suffered pretty hard during the CD process being in total control.
Likewise in one of the chats or interviews about CD he mentioned how he became the producer only because of issues with the label. The impression I got was that it was somewhat reluctantly that he ended up defacto-producing himself.
Additionally in relation to Ac/Dc he spoke that he loved that angus was his boss, he seemed to enjoy the break from total responsibility.
I mean I can't see him handing over the reigns of the whole GNR ship to someone. But I could see given the torturous process the last album was - and given the need for them to co-operate in the future for more tours and the real risk recording might bring up old disputes - that the concept of appointing some type of umpire to deal with disagreement might seem tempting.

TSI sounds great.
I think it's under-loved because it's all covers at a time we wanted originals, but SG is right, the mix is fantastic, you can really hear everything going on with the band. Much more so than on the earlier albums.

When did anyone ever say they would never record an album again?? I remember tons of shit talk between axl/slash but don't recall this exact statement being made.
I don't think they did say it as an exact statement.
But when you consider Axl's historical remarks about working with the original line up again:
"I suppose Duff could play guitar on something somewhere, but there’s zero possibility of me having anything to do with Slash other than by ambush, and that wouldn’t be pretty"
You could interpret that to mean no albums as much as it meant no reunion shows.
